While I agree SaskTel Centre is a nice facility, it's not really new at all. The original structure is over 30 years old and while the renovations/upgrades for the 2010 WJHC helped a fair amount, I have to think it's nearing the end of its life as a venue. IIRC, the City of Saskatoon discussed a potential replacement nearer to downtown a couple years ago.

We must never mess with the 'Rouge' - it may serve no real purpose but most importantly it is not American and it confuses the **** out of Americans... therefore it is critically important to the Canadian game.

Today on Regina radio 620 the question was asked, "Which CFL non-playoff team will make the playoffs in 2020 AND which team that did make the playoffs will not make them?"
Luc Mullinder answered:
"B.C. will make the playoffs...(and...wait for it)...Winnipeg will NOT make the playoffs!"
(I nearly choked on my sandwich upon hearing that...however Mullinder is a Bomber hater.)

I was really looking forward to the season. But now that Sask is finishing first and taking the GC I dont want to watch it anymore.

I can’t see Josh Johnson making less than 100k. Despite him not being known to us as a familiar name guy, he’s a big ticket player ... veteran who’s spent time in the NFL and played well in the CFL. I think most of us would be uncomfortable with what he’s getting paid.
Harris being a value for what he provides still doesn’t discount that he’s making over 200k.
We have two of the five most expensive defensive players in the league, including the most expensive.
Our OL has to be the highest paid in the league.
I do agree we have money, but we’ve spent in a lot of places people forget about.

I feel like Jefferson had his mind made up a while ago. He just wanted to get a raptors game in.

Honestly I think we are fine with the receivers we've got so long as Zach can stay healthy... Id rather stick with the Grey Cup receiving core at this point and spend whatever we've got on defense.

I can only imagine how frosty the dressing room will be if a kicker squibs one at the end of the game and costs everyone 2k.

I'd like to think he has a couple of really good years left in him...so my uneducated guess is he retires after 2021 season.

Except that it isn't - after taxes it's half that (15-20k) and given the higher likelyhood of playoffs games for last years grey cup winner the difference could be even less still.
Nevermind that - sign for a long contract in Winnipeg and because it's a real football market you could reasonably expect the possbility of local sponsorship deals to cover the rest. Even moreso your rent is probably going to be minimum 5-10K a year more in TO than Winnipeg....

Wore #22 with Boston College and with the New Jersey Generals in the USFL. Then went to the NFL where QBs must wear a jersey number between 1 and 19, so he wore #2 with Chicago and New England.
Then came to the CFL and resurrected #22 with BC. When he went to Calgary, #22 was retired (Tom Forzani) so he wore #20 there. Once in Toronto he wore #2. Back to the NFL with Buffalo where he wore #7 (kicker Steve Christie wore #2 at that time I believe), and kept #7 when he went to San Diego. Finally, he ended up in New England where he once again wore #2.
And now you know...…… the rest of the story.

MBT is not going to be happy being Nichol's short-yardage QB. Nichols has CFL experience, and little else, on MBT.
Nichols doesn't have Andrew Harris and/or our O-line any more. He can't run the ball himself, isn't fast enough or nimble enough to evade pressure, and doesn't have the arm to put the ball into tight spots consistently.
Pinball isn't going to be happy paying Nichol's 350K/yr for 3 years to throw the ball away and/or turtle.

blueingreenland reacted to TBURGESS in 2019 GREY CUP CHAMPIONS!!!
Game to game comparison the Superbowl was a significantly better game than the Grey Cup this year. Back and forth. Lead changes. Big plays. Big mistakes. The half time show was way better as were the ads. If you're anything other than a Bomber fan this years Grey Cup was an absolute bust.

I think a lot depends on how long Streveler stays in the NFL. If he's released early, pretty much guaranteed he'll be back with the Bombers. If he hangs around a season on an NFL practice roster, not so sure he'd come back. A lot changes in pro sports in a season. McGuire may have cemented the job as number 2 QB, or number 1 in waiting. The Bombers will be looking for a number 3 QB and may have found one they're happy with by then. Plus the new CFL season will bring a new Nick Arbuckle or Cody Fajardo that many CFL teams will be after. Not saying Streveler wouldn't be sought after, but, if he's gone the entire CFL season or close to it, no team is holding a place for him.

I remember 2016 very well... the team was 1-4 (or about to be)... we were sitting in IGF and I said to my lifelong friend/fellow season ticket holder " I might be done, if this season continues like this, I don't think I'm coming back next year"... this was our 13th season has season ticket holders....
The next game in Edmonton, Matt Nichols was named as the starter over Drew Willy... a couple other changes were made too... Loffler started at S, Bond was moved to G and Hardrick at RT... and that started something different... that was the first day that the team became competitive and we finally saw the results of that last November...
Long story short... without Matt Nichols I am confident that Mike O'Shea and Kyle Walters would no longer be employed by the Bombers and we would not have seen the drought end in November... for that, all Bombers fans owe Nichols a huge amount of gratitude... some people did not love Matt's play over the past 12-18 months... which is fair... but you can't deny that he was one of the major reasons this team is where it is today.
Thank you Matt Nichols... all the best in the future...

blueingreenland got a reaction from the watcher in Collaros signs 2 year deal
I like the Collaros signing. He may have been the best option we had. And remember that a lot could happen within the 2 years of his contract: he could stay healthy and we could win another Grey Cup or he could miss significant time paving the way for someone else (like McGuire).

Matt Nicholls has been released. I want to thank him for his play the past 4 seasons & elevating the Bombers from an also ran to Grey Cup contender. I want to wish him all the best wherever in the CFL he ends up playing. I agree that while he didn't get us over the finish line he got us in position to do it. Another reminder that a player's career in football can be over in the snap of two fingers because of injury or the path one was on significantly altered.

Winning the cup made collaros untouchable here.
Gotta hope Nichols lands on his feet though. The work he did to help turn this team around means a lot and always will.
