  1. If he gets suspended, won't he just appeal and have it overturned, like what always happens?  Or has something changed?

How about the time a guy abused an official and got himself suspended for the Grey Cup:

Yep, all he had to do was appeal it, play in the Grey Cup, and let the league screw the pooch over the offseason and all he gets is a half-game check fine. LOL.  I love the CFL, but in things like this, it really is a joke.

How about they just call those empty corner sections the Rum Hut and Jim Beam section that comes with a free drink?

Seems like adding congestion to the most congested part of the stadium

It says they'll be available on a game-by-game basis, so I'm assuming they'll release them for games that aren't going to sell out anyways.  Because correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that area already packed most games? Or just when it's a near-sellout?

I'm sure there are. There's also a ton of them in the GTA, too. But we all know what happened with the Bills Toronto Series.

True, but I'm guessing the earlier Bills game in Toronto sold out before they turned it into a series, no?

Winnipeg seems to have a pretty good track record supporting one-time big sporting events too. If you can call an NFL preseason game a big event, I guess.

  4. If they're talking about week 3 of the preseason, isn't that when teams usually play their starters the most?

I think some of you are underestimating the amount of NFL fans in Manitoba. Anecdotally, I probably know more people who follow the NFL than really care about the CFL much at all.  When the Bombers are bad they make fun of the whole league, and when the Bombers are good, they might get into it a tiny bit and go to a couple games.  But every week they're devoting their Sunday to the NFL.  I like the NFL too, but I think they're ridiculous. But there are a lot of them.

How many people would come watch from Grand Forks if the Vikings or Packers were involved? That is, if people in Grand Forks would even know how to find Winnipeg.

  5. Some good arguments here about why the OP is overreacting.  On the other hand, you look at the last bunch of Grey Cup winners and there's a lot of Bo Levis, Mike Reillys, and Ricky Rays on there. Who is the last QB at Nichols' level to win it all? Darian Durant?

I don't think anyone is counting on Nichols being good enough to match what those guys have done.  Are we counting on having a better defense than any other CFL team in recent memory just to get out of the West?

  6. Even though it's not surprising, and literally no one was expecting it, is anyone kind of disappointed that there was no talk of the Bombers being in on any of the big 3 quarterbacks available? If we had Reilly or Bo Levi the last few years is there any way that the Bombers wouldn't have AT LEAST been to a Grey Cup or two??

Is it really a case of the Bombers finally finding a decent QB in Nichols (who I actually like), so they can't try to upgrade him when the opportunity is there, because if they fail then Nichols is pissed or what?

Kind of sucks that we suffer seemingly forever in between good quarterbacks, and when Edmonton loses they Reilly they replace him with someone almost as good within an hour.  And BC finally sucks for one measly season and then signs Reilly and everyone else in the league.  And we're sitting here in Winnipeg with Nichols, who is fine, but now clearly the 4th best QB in the West, assuming Mitchell ends up in Calgary (or God forbid, Sask).

    Whiny rant over.

  7. I would argue that his loyalty to Richie Hall paid off this year.

I guess we could fire Oshea and Walters, hire promising new people who have never been head coach or GM before, let them learn on the job for a few years and once they have made some mistakes, had some success and probably accumulated enough experience to really be able to keep the team contenders year after year then fire them and start all over again.

  8. LOL. If the Dems win they'll have all these investigations and of course find Trump guilty, and he'll be impeached. I just don't know why they would bother with investigations when apparently everyone is so sure.

And if they lose it's obviously because the whole election is rigged by the republicans. And the Russians, because of reasons.  You lefties are insane.

  9. Andrew Scheer is the politician that everyone on here thinks Maxime Bernier should be.  Above all he seems to try not to give the left a reason to lose their mind and call him racist, sexist, etc.

Eventually he'll have to say something, and he'll find out that's impossible. Just look at Stephen Harper, Mitt Romney, etc.  The most polished and careful conservatives are all eventually called racists, sexists, evil etc.  That's the real reason Trump is president.  Believe it or not, half the USA are not actually racists(!!!). But, flawed as he may be and partly because of his flaws, they finally found a guy immune to insane character attacks of the left.

This is the response? Thank you for completely proving what I'm saying.

No one forces anyone to play in the CFL so how is it oppression?

How about if you disagree with the protests you give me some legit reasons why it's bad that people are exercising their right to free speech.

Just because I am a white Canadian doesn't mean I don't have eyes and ears to see what's going on. Some players are using the platform they have to bring attention to the differential treatment of people of different races, and if you don't think different groups get treated differently then you really aren't paying attention.

Just because you're old doesn't mean it's OK to be racist.

     But her emails tho amirite?

How about if you agree with the protests you give me some legit reasons why it's racist to disagree with them?

    But Russian collusion tho amirite?

  11. Wasn't it a live mic game on Friday?  I'm guessing that might have something to do with it. Would be kind of pointless to have the live mics just being drowned out by the fans.

And am I the only one who gets absolutely nothing from the live mics?  I couldn't really care less to hear about 95% of what they pick up.

  12. Even if there isn't much of a weather difference between the beginning of November and the current Grey Cup day, I'd still be way more likely to go to more games in June than in October.

I know, I'm a bad fan.  But I go to the games with my wife or kids. And the weather makes a big difference to how much they enjoy it. OK, and I admit it makes a difference for me.  Sitting outside for an evening in June is just so much more enjoyable than pretty much any day we get in October.  Even if it starts off nice, it gets dark sooner and colder, and then I'm disappointed that I wore shorts because I get chilly, and God forbid it starts to rain... we're all a lot softer than the old die-hards.
