And I guess you forget  Harper running deficits  every year out of the recession when he had a majority?

The guy was a terrible  financial  manager.  Only  budget  he balanced  was due to selling gm shares to try and put  some window dressing on a history  of terrible  financial  management.

So how do you feel about Trudeau as a financial manager then?  Serious question - I apologize if you've already commented on that here.

No I haven't forgotten but what doesn't that have to with spending during a recession.

Maybe you did forget then - the whole coalition fiasco was supposed to be have been because they were horrified that the Conservatives weren't doing nearly enough "stimulus spending" during the recession.  Eventually the Conservatives did increase their spending as a result of that, but not NEARLY to the level that all the other parties were demanding.

Which is why it's been so ridiculous listening to people rip them for their deficits for the past couple years. If those same people had their way, the deficits would have been way bigger.

I mean, just look at the first Liberal budget. Yikes.

Of course, we all know the real reason for the coalition was because they removed the per-vote subsidy.  The only thing that could actually unite the left against the conservatives was, of course, a threat to the parties' free taxpayer money.

Im not sure your point.  I think we are all smart enough to know the difference between a gun collector, hunter and the like.  Unless collectors are amassing large quantities of assault rifles, in which case it aint for collecting.

The gun lobby has done a good job of freaking people out about big brother coming into their home and taking their only protection.  Its all nonsense of course.  No one needs an assault rifle for anything.

Who needs marijuana for anything? Other than sick people who can already get it legally.

Just my personal opinion, not a slight at all - but this is some scary rhetoric for 2006...let alone 2016.

"not a fan of legalizing pot" - meaning you support the proven-unsuccessful crime & punishment approach? What's scary about legalization? Increase in use amongst youth? Worries around distribution? Government involvement?  Legit questions...very curious.

"what would be scary about being "pro gun"?  I mean, in a word: America. That's what's scary about the "pro gun" crowd.  The sheer numbers that Americans are killing EACHOTHER.  I'll FULLY admit I don't know all the nuances and specific issues at hand here - I just don't understand why a phrase like "gun reform" scares so many.  I can respect that as a law abiding US citizen you have a right to own a gun. Fine, fair. But do you need 13 of them? Do you need semi-auto rifles? Is is socially responsible to issue guns so freely, with lack background checks?  How about the gun tradeshow loopholes Michael Moore exposed a decade ago?

I'm not going to touch that last comment.

I find these conversations very interesting and engaging. We, as Canadians, should be caring and paying attention in my opinion - if for no other reason that being thankful for where we live.

Much debate about the second amendment actually.  It's scary to see the ease at which people get guns and have someone not believe it's a problem.

I think the biggest issue with gun reform is that no one on the right trusts the left with any further restrictions on gun ownership, because they ultimately want to take it as far as they can and ban gun ownership altogether. And that has historically been disastrous. The US was founded on and has far greater roots with total liberty, so there are more people concerned and protective about that.

It's actually similar to the abortion issue, just reversed. The left fights any restrictions at all on abortion, even to the point of allowing obviously heinous things like "partial-birth abortion" because they think the right will take that inch and then try to go all the way to a total abortion ban. (and of course they're right, abortion should be totally illegal)

Also, I'm pretty sure the gun show loophole is a myth. Maybe it was true a decade ago (although I doubt it, if Michael Moore supposedly exposed it), but it sure isn't now.

As for legalizing pot - I just can't figure out why we are making it more and more difficult to smoke cigarettes legally and simultaneously trying to legalize pot.

He's pro gun.  He's against same sex marriage and civil unions (which should disqualify him really).

Some things that are more opinion based but would "scare" some is he's very pro life.  Pro death penalty.

He doesnt believe in the climate change craziness.

He's an interesting cat.  Its hard to find someone that aligns with all views, I think for most people.  I'd actually like most of Cruz' views but the same sex stuff just drives me insane.  Not to mention pro guns.  He's tough on crime but support legalizing pot, which is interesting (and I agree with).

To me that all sounds great. Not a fan of legalizing pot.

What would be scary about being "pro gun".  That means he just supports the already-existing 2nd amendment. It's not like he's trying to flood the streets with more guns in criminals hands.

I guess if I made my living killing unborn babies I would be scared of someone like him. But those people should be scared, they're evil.

The first Starship Troopers was awesome.  I remember seeing in the theater on a first date with a gorgeous girl named Vanessa.  I didnt get the satirical nature and thought it was goofy.  She did too.  Years later I saw it again and LOVED it.  Hilarious.

I always wondered what happened to Vanessa.  Weird that someone falls off the earth with no Facebook or anything.  Oh well.

I hate to break it to you but she obviously changed her name after that date.

  7. I've been using a Roku (1 i think?) for a couple months.  Seems to work great for me. It's quicker and easier to navigate than the painfully laggy apps you get with the smart blu-ray player I have.  Picture quality seems good to me too.

It's connected by wifi, and doesn't even have a way to put put a cord in it, but haven't had any problems on Netflix. Use it for NHL Gamecentre too, and it will buffer sometimes when you turn a game on at the beginning, but then is fine.

Nobody is a bigger Chick fan than me. He is a warrior. He is going to get 175-180 and that's it. He has one maybe two years left. He is a fool to leave here where he was set up for life after football

We hear comments like this so often, I'm wondering how exactly the Riders are going to find room in their front office for the hundreds of retired players they've apparently promised a lifetime gig to.

Or maybe you mean he'll be able to live off a lifetime supply of paninis from Regina Tim Hortons?

  9. Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but some Republicans are trying to change the law so people on the no-fly list can still purchase guns. They feel a person with a suspected link to terrorism should still be able to buy a gun. Let that soak in for a moment...

Well no, people on the no-fly list already can buy a gun. Many don't support changing that because the no-fly list they have now is chock full of names put on there by mistake. And I mean chock full.  Plus it's a secret list that the government can just add you to for any reason they feel like.  So you're not exactly getting due process before the government goes ahead and denies you the right to bear arms.

It's interesting how people lost their mind when Trump suggested keeping out Muslim immigrants, yet think it's a great idea to deny thousands of Muslim American citizens (because the list I'm sure is mostly Muslims) their constitutionally protected rights with no due process whatsoever.

  10. Just look at it scientifically.  Who are the people that are the most concerned about climate change?  The left.  And what's their track record? So far they've been wrong about nearly everything.  Not to mention they have a tendency to try using any "crisis" to expand government size and control over people's lives.  What are the chances that in this one case they are not wrong and doing what they always do? Not very good.

  11. All new developments also already get the boxes.

I'd actually be more mad if he reversed it after all the money they paid to roll-out the new delivery plans and installation of the mail boxes.

So you were unhappy with his promise to "save home mail delivery" during the election?

Speaking for myself, yes, I thought it was an idiotic promise.

Most of his promises were idiotic in my opinion. You won't see me complaining if he breaks every promise he made.

  12. Didn't he promise to reverse this?

PM won't commit to fully restore mail home delivery, but vows no new community boxes. Will consult with Cda Post on next steps. #cdnpoli

THANK GOODNESS. Finally someone doing something about an important issues that matters to Canadians!!!

Just kidding.  I'm pretty sure we've had community boxes out here in Steinbach/rural Manitoba for decades. Seems like not many old people have died getting their mail yet.

  13. There's another key difference: a "Christian" killing a bunch of people is exactly opposite of what a Christian is called to do, despite what people who don't read, care about, or understand the Bible like to say. While Muslims killing infidels are actually following what their Koran tells them to do, and indeed emulating what their prophet, Muhammed, did.

  14. CNN only tells you what the government wants you to believe

What this and other shootings show.... white black brown yellow... Christian Muslim... irrelevant. Ppl are crazy

How is it irrelevant when the vast majority of the killing is being done by just one of the types of people you listed there?

That's like saying "Muslim, Jewish, Christian... irrelevant. People love eating bacon."

Why such a strong desire to keep your head in the sand?

  15. For those that think there's a difference between islam, and christianity, as far as promoting violence goes, do I need to post some "pro war" paragraphs from the old testament?

    comeon man.....

people take what they want from religious works.

You could do that, and then I could post some paragraphs about how you have a terrible misunderstanding of Christianity (and the Bible).

But what would be the point?  It's still just Muslim terrorists killing everyone. Can't you see that?
