  1. A win this week will go a long way toward a play off spot. Not too sure I agree with some Rider fans who profess the misguided assumption that wins down the home stretch are so much better.6-1 with 11 games left sounds pretty good to me. I guess the injury reports should come out tomorrow.
  2. How lucky we are Hamilton and Ottawa stole our first and second choice at QB. Teams who are in the position we have been for the last years are doing no better than we were. Our HC has been able to turn the "keep on going" switch on the whole team. While discouraging individual plays at the expense of team work we are leading the sack attack.(I think) That Regina fans like us even less. Life is good in the Peg.
  3. One thing I believe will help us is O'Shea's apparent ability to keep the guys on an even keel and not feeling they have won the game before it's even played à la Swaggerville and their belief they can come back should that be needed.
  4. And to run a safety blitz as well up by the same score. That was classless. He's an arrogant & cocky coach when he's winning. Add in throwing deep to the endzone a few times. Totally unnecessary. On CFL Horsemen, I made the same comment about the safety blitz being classless. Especially the hit the qb took from the backside. Totally unnecessary by Brackenridge to try to break the guy in half. What was the point of blitzing like that?? Just to rub it in the Argos faces to make them look bad. The Rider fan said this isn't croquet, it's football & if the Argos want to gamble on third down they deserve to get the crap beaten out of them. I hate the Riders & their jerk off fanbase so much. Just waiting for the time when it comes that they have a crappy team & we as well as all the teams in the CFL kick the **** out of them. I agree, their fans were a much friendlier bunch when they were lovable losers. Well let's see what happens when they play western teams. Toronto really made them look like gang busters. They got two wins but act like they're 5-0. I'm anxious to see the game in two weeks if we're on the ball and have some of our guys back.
  5. Why would they? How many current players/coaches/management knew or played for the man (Suber, Watson, Pierce)? I sure don't mean to belittle his memory, but I would think we, the fans, remember him more fondly than most current members of the organization...and that's a damn shame. We really don't know what happens behind closed doors. As an organization they probably remember him but they must move on with what they have. The memory of the man is quite visible in the organization so I think they made a real effort to remember him.
  6. There are many things the CFL could do but that would require both the league executive and the CFLPA take the problem seriously which is not going to happen until there is an incident where the concussion causes serious damages that can't be denied and both get sued and lose. How many times have we heard Brown when he was the rep and even now express the opinion players, who have no regard to the way they hit another, should be lightly punished. How can you justify the position of one who represents his co-workers refuse to take steps to protect them? Again, why don't the players themselves require their reps to include that protection in the CBA. If Cornish were to file a suit against both the CFL and CFLPA, he would be fighting the world be himself.
  7. Hey guys, **** happens but it tends to happen more often if you stick with what does not work. On one side of the ball I thought we were trying to body check the guy off the puck and on the other it sure looked like Burke's offence. The good thing is we still have our three wins and we seem to have come out of it in reasonably good health. C'est la vie!
  8. I don't know the first thing about concussions so I won't go there but I would like to suggest that if the CFLPA is banking on this case I doubt they have the best player to support its arguments. In 2012 while in BC he declared himself fit to play after an apparent concussion. So if he wasn't ready and he suffered further damage who's to blame?
  9. Just ask yourself this: "How many other CFL cities would still be getting close to 30,000 fans after the last years we have endured?" A lot of them would be run by the league by now. Sorry but that comment is just plain not true. The fans have put up with a hell of a lot with all the organization forced down their gizzard starting with Kelly. Those guys took a great institution that most have forgotten about and turned it into a land fill. The fans couldn't read the paper because of all the depressing articles. Regina is in great shape right now but it's not all that long ago it was selling bingo tickets and accepting grain as donation. I think Winnipeg has the best fans in the country by far.
  10. From what I hear there is PI on most pass plays. So we pay huge amount of money for very talented receivers than we will restrict their ability to do their job? Both calls in Friday were interference. Denmark was held for way too long and our guy did not even turn around to see where the ball was before the push on the chest. And what happens if you restrict the number of calls they can make. After the they have used their one chance they just open the flood gates. The refs and the review people will have to redefine what a PI should be and go from there. The teams waste a lot more time on penalties than they do on PI's The number of total challenges has not changed, just what is challenged. Doug Brown makes it sound as if a team can just sit on the 55 and throw all night in the end zone and get a break every time getting the PI review. How many times have we seen guys crying blue murder in previous year when uncalled PI's had changed the outcome of a game? Remember that?
  11. Two things: Field possession from special teams Penalties taken. The rest will look after itself.
  12. Well you had your chance. Yesterday was Bastille Day also known as chop-chop day.
  13. If declining an interview with Irvin or hugging an official are the only things we can find to assess his character we are lacking somewhat. Not like ho told Bob to FO. He probably did not know who Bob was and probably didn't care. Judged by a somewhat interesting reputation that preceded him.
  14. Maybe the question should be: Should the coaches be penalized for failing to discipline their players? Holding and illegal blocks are starting to hurt us again. I don't like penalties but if they are not called the game will become a gladiator sport. In the first game Toronto would have been a lot closer if they had played disciplined football. That PI on the Denmark play Friday might have cost Montreal the game. If the teams are willing to let their guys do as they please than don't blame the refs if it causes a loss. Sooner or later the message might get through. My feeling is even the notion of a cap is a non starter. Like everyone else I hate the time that is wasted every time a penalty is called.
  15. Remember during the training camp when people were hoping we would be 2-2 after four games? Willy and the team played like champions tonight. Looks like Willy is a pretty tough cookie. Just watching the Ottawa-Edmonton game and wondering what they feed Bowman.
  16. a suspension though takes all his money out of his pocket tho. I don't think Brown ever lost his attachment to the CFLPA. He says the maximum fine is the best way to send a message. A one game suspension is a better way. Who makes less than $750 a game?
  17. If things remain as it is there should be a change in the attitude of free agents in the future. Who doesn't like to act like a pro because it's the right thing instead of being forced to do it by rules. And things can only get better. The press that carries a big stick will fall in line as the readers will no longer appreciate articles that only focus on the negatives. The management in the last few years were a magnet for bad press. I have always been of the opinion you get the press on your side and you will get some slack in hard times. It is truly refreshing to see our team walking tall in the sunshine.
  18. Way too early to say. Benevides is probably safe as Wally would become the puppeteer if things get rough. Glenn has had some serious problems running that offence. I would wait until after the Labour day Classics to consider where things are shaky.
  19. HC Bud Grant AC Joe Zaleski AC Johnny Micheal Yeah! Things are different
  20. With Micheal Boublé you are guarranteed a great night, The other choice...not so much.
  21. Not the best idea they have come with How about making them less visible by offering better training.
  22. Like acid reflux he just keeps coming back.
