I'm not sure how I feel about Owens, I think he would make a better returner than Demski but it sounds like AJ Jefferson may be returning punts. The return of Dressler makes me a little nervous, he's usually good for a couple majors against us... any idea who he would be replacing? Denmark?

He's replacing Thorpe. So Denmark, Dressler, Adams, Lankford, Feoli-Gudino (and Harris/Flanders)

  2. The CFL doesn't have authority to "ok" coaching hires, only players. So despite the "discussions" that the Ticats alluded to, the league and commissioner couldn't actually tell them not to hire him. Today, the commissioner drove to Hamilton and compelled the Ticats not to. So this wasn't a matter of flip-flopping. It is definitely worth commending the league for doing the right thing, especially when, at the end of the day, Hamilton could have still hired him.

I don't think it was for self preservation.  He lost the room.  He knows it.  He did want any other GM would do. The fact he wears both hats gives it the optics of self preservation.  Not my  favorite coach, but i do respect him as one. The move is a good one for the team so good on him for doing what's right.

I've seen a few folks referring to Austin as the GM. Isn't Eric Tillman the GM? Austin's sole title is now VP of football operations if I'm not mistaken.

  4. Anyone else catch the mic'd up from our game on TSN? Brandon Banks is not pleased with his team/coaching. When we stopped them on the first two point convert attempt, he kept yelling "why are we going for two? Why are we going for two?" Then followed that up with a sarcastic "we have a field goal kicker, don't we?" Then later in the game on the quick Medlock punt, when Austin tries to talk to him while he's walking off he starts jawing back at Austin. We all know there's issues there, but for this to be all caught on camera shows us just how bad it is. Imagine what's happening when the cameras aren't rolling.

Also, chill out on the typo thing with Ripper. I just went through my post and found four autocorrects that happened from me typing quickly on my phone. Hate to imagine how I'd have been treated if I hit the submit button. His phone obviously auto-corrected the same word consistently. Who cares? What does a typo have to do with football?

Defense is the problem but I keep on hearing an offense that keeps on scoring 40 points without turning the ball over get the blunt of the blame..

Nailed it. It's like people think if we don't score a TD on every drive our O sucks. 41 points with our top receiver out for most of the game.

Maybe when fans see other offenses moving at will against us they think our offence should be able to do the same thing against actual defenses. Our D line is the only reason why we were even in this game thanks to their sacks, and I say "in the game" when we give up 40 points.

  6. I loved how he told Washington that a big play was coming his way and just to be ready when it does, then boom, touchdown.

His support of and belief in his teammates was great, and not just with the O. Seeing Loffler giving him props, or Dressler cheering Legget on after the BS no-fumble call, or even Medlock thanking him for reigning in the snap on a field goal. Just such a solid teammate.

Also, two TDs in 25 seconds, and then he's running back to be the holder for both! Talk about a blue collar kind of guy!

  7. Apologies if this is buried in another thread somewhere, but I thought everyone should check this out. I enjoyed watching this so much. It really felt like I was on the sideline with the team during the game (once you get past the intro/travel). I hope that the Bombers plan on doing this every week, one of the best pieces of football content I've seen in forever!

Also, so happy we have Dressler!!

  8. Just spoke with a friend in Minneapolis that follows the Gophers religiously. Here's what he had to say:

"Super solid receiver. Not a freak athlete, he's not going to make jaw-dropping catches, but really reliable and puts up good numbers."

Honestly, that's exactly what I want. A possession receiver, first down, Ben Cahoon kinda guy. Denmark, Adams, Dressler, and possibly Washington can all stretch the field fine, but a possession receiver (especially one with the right passport), would really round out our corps. Hope he sticks!

To be fair, both those throws were high and hard. Very catchable, but it's not as if he 'set' the ball up for the defence.

I believe the Ottawa one was actually low, Kohlert was going to his knees, ball went off the inside of his right arm and popped up.
