  1. We all knew he could bounce back from having a bad year..and he has. You're taking it too personal. Never once did I have the suspicion that Haj had it in for us. He had an off year. You're talking like you never had one. If you really want to drop, then drop it. It was only a video...
  2. You have to remember that when Miller took over the role of CEO, he wanted to change the culture of the Winnipeg Football Club. It is why he hired Kyle Walters and Mike O'Shea. He saw in them the direction the Club could go to achieve success through patience, and good football people. It is also why you never heard that MOS was in danger of losing his job. To fans on the outside, we only saw the wins versus the losses. We didn't get to see the change IN the locker room. We are getting that glimpse now. It was never going to be a 1 or 2 year fix. It's good not to have known that before. It's better now that we're winning, not for that sake alone, but also for the fact that more can be done while these guys are in charge. It was easy to take potshots, especially at O'Shea, but he believed in what he and Kyle and Miller were doing, and it shows. Players with character and integrity. Not always easy to see through the outer layers, and we're not there yet, but from what we're seeing now, they deserve more time. We can give them that. We deserve that too.
  3. Geez, can't you have a little fun while you're plying your trade?
  4. There is no doubt in my mind that the H.H.H. award (Hilarious Happy Honker) goes to the offensive line for the marvellous I.G.F. leap after Nichol's sneak TD. https://twitter.com/tsn_sports/status/777251109693976576
  5. It just : "Smells Like Team Spirit" https://twitter.com/wpg_bluebombers/status/777252202075291648
  6. LeFevour just couldn't win it for the Argos..although he certainly tried. The Argos had a pretty good game plan for LeFevour. Bombers 2-1 in sacks (Hope Sheppard is OK.) Ho hum, Flanders does it right! 19-102 yards! Nichols started slow, but gradually realized we'd kill him if he continued playing shoddy football. Hello, Justin Medlock. Welcome back to perfect FG kicking country. Make no mistake about it, it was a total team effort. 27 unanswered points! The only thing the Bombers didn't do right...was throw a pass to Richards. The boys are having fun. Special teams provides the backbone to this team, and that totally makes sense. 46 POINTS!!
  7. Quite agree. Flanders should be running wild (not that wild) and Denmark...maybe he can can have another 195 yard game? Ok, I'll settle for 150+.
  8. Is there any chance that Kilgore gets to start? Just a happy wish. Even though Milanovich exonerated Kilgore for 4 of 5 interceptions he threw, Kevin Fogg, and Leggett wre caught sending a text message (anonymously) to Milanovich, requesting same. Bombers have to keep their eye on Diontae Spencer, and keep containment on LeFevour. Cfl Game Notes Winnipeg has held 4 of their last 5 opponents to 18 points or less; have not given up 100 rushing yards in the last 9 games. - Over the last 4 games, Winnipeg has had a lower Time of Poss. And won them all; they have won the TOP battle only 3 times. - Availability of several key Winnipeg players who did not finish last week’s game may be a factor (Ian Wild, Andrew Harris). - Weston Dressler now #31 all-time among receivers (48 yards back of Fred Stamps); 212 yards last two games on 14 catches. Kahlil Bass has 22 tackles, a fumble recovery and an interception in his last 3 games. Toronto - They have a CFL-high 5 road games left in 2016. (This week marks the first of three straight on the road for Toronto) - Toronto averaged just 22.3 points over the first 9 games; they have scored 69 points over the last two games. - Toronto has scored either a TD or field goal on 13 of 28 offensive drives over the last two games. - Toronto leads the CFL in Time of Possession at 31:38 but also have the poorest average starting field position (own 35). - The Argos have only 3 points in the 4th Quarter in the last 3 games; their 4th Quarter scoring margin is -26 in 2016. - Argos kick returns trail the CFL as they rank #8 on kickoffs at 21.0 per return and #7 at just 9.3 yards on punt returns. - Lirim Hajrullahu has now made his last 15 FG attempts, the longest streak of his career. He is 3 short of the all-time club record set by Swayze Waters in 2014 at 18 in a row (Aug 1/14 to Oct 4/14). His 89.7% mark is 2nd-highest in club history. - Dan Lefevour coming off first win July 2014 and second career 300-yard game; ran for 39 yards on 10 carries vs Hamilton.
  9. -I wonder if Chris jones has heartburn every time John chick makes a play.. -Don't know how the fresh prince missed blocking that punt -Usually I detest in-game interviews. Today's, with James West and Doug Brown were somehow, easier to take. -a n o t h e r blocked punt? Reinbold can Harley speak... -not bad, a newbee enters the game, and gets an interception... -defences want this game.. -great 3rd down nation gamble by Hamilton -4th interception for Davis. I wonder if we're gonna trade for him... -29 min and 10 seconds into the game - 1st penalty? Wow! -#Als have now played six quarters against @Ticats and have yet to score an offensive TD. -Hamilton 4 sacks Montreal 2 -Maher 4-4 FGs -10 tackles for Bear Woods The biggest question?.?? Would Kevin Glenn have beaten the Ticats on this particular night?
  10. Cut ties with Rod Pedersen. That makes sense. Cut ties with a sharpie like Justin Dunk is short-sighted and illogical. He's a good writer who puts himself in position to get the scoop and report it quickly. At least he'll still be with 3downnation.
  11. So, indirectly, this 5th round draft pick somehow allows us to pick up another so called backup QB, a highly regarded DB in TJ Heath and a 1st round pick in '17, a 3rd pick in2018, with a side cost of a 4th round pick in 2017. Oh, and Jade Etienne. That's quite the remarkable inventory upgrade.
  12. Maybe or maybe not related, but smelling salts were seen being delivered to Drew Willy's new stall..
  13. I was remiss in calling to attention a particular play(s) involving Weston Dressler and Justin Cox. As you all remember, near the end of the Labour Day game Justin Cox was penalized for interference when he prevented Dressler from getting to the ball by using his left arm to hold, then hook Dressler, all the while looking back for the ball. Move on to the Banjo Bowl game, early in the 2nd quarter, on our 1st possession, Nichols and Dressler cleverly hooked up for 31 yard gain. Dressler virtually ran the same route, but when Cox made his move - arm out and looking back at the QB, Dressler pressed in, then cut out quickly before Nichols hit him with a perfect pass. In my mind, a nicely designed play with this exact scenario in mind. LaPolice, Nichols and Dressler - well done.. If you get a chance..check it out to see what I mean.
  14. I think the colour green is the real problem here.
  15. THE INSIDERS SAY (Kirk Penton) CFL coaches and managers give their anonymous thoughts on what they’re talking about behind closed doors: -Dave Dickenson looks like a 10 year coaching veteran in his first year. He learned under Huf (John Hufnagel) and Wally (Buono), and it shows ... -As coaches, it’s frustrating for us trying to teach and improve our men with this new CBA. It’s hard to coach and develop young players in shorts and sweats. Practice wasn’t that way when I played or when I was a younger coach. But, without calling out a team, I see one over there in the East that needs to teach fundamentals and tackling. When you miss tackles, you get beat. Young coaches think it’s all about scheme. It isn’t. Keep it simple, and get your players better by working on fundamentals ... -Winnipeg won the Drew Willy trade. Dump that big salary, gain two picks, a starting DB (that they really need). It’s a no-brainer if Matty Ice (Matt Nichols) is the man moving forward ... -It pisses me off to say it since they’re in our division, but Kyle Walters made two great trades last weekend ... -The best officials in the league right now are Tom Vallesi and Al Bradbury. The worst is Kim Murphy ... -Rakeem Cato’s performance was about what I thought. He ran around and tried to make plays outside the framework of the offence — sometimes with success, most of the time without. He’s just not a consistent enough passer to win consistently. They have to limit his opportunities to throw down field by leaning on the run game and screens/quicks ... -Vaughn Martin is telling people he doesn’t plan to play in the CFL again ... -The Argos seem to see some aspects of Willy’s game that Winnipeg maybe already judged or overlooked. It’s a fresh start for him with Ricky Ray waiting in the wings ... It was bad for us, because we might need the crossover to get in the playoffs, but that Toronto team impressed me. In football, we teach our guys that to be winners you have to learn how to overcome adversity. They lost Ray, but the Argos went out, smacked the Ticats in the mouth and won a game they had to have ... -I wouldn’t trade a second-rounder for Duron Carter. He’s not a guy to add in season to a locker-room, especially if you are a playoff contender ... -I told my brother: Don’t be surprised if Calgary plays Edmonton in the Grey Cup ... -Hope No. 33 (Shakir Bell) doesn’t play this week. He makes the Eskimos even tougher to defend ... -T.J. Heath is very good, young, athletic and has great ball skills. He reminds me of a young Jovon Johnson ... -I’ve never coached (Dan) LeFevour, but he impressed the (bleep) out of me last week. His mobility makes the Argos a different team. He takes a lot of pressure off of their offensive line. When Ray’s out there playing, he’s easy to blitz. You know Ray is going to be in the pocket. With LeFevour they can change his launching points and when he needs to he can escape the pocket and make plays and first downs with his legs ... -Look at the film. (Matt) O’Donnell holds 30 times a game. But (the officials) let him get away with it ... -I thought they would get more than a fourth rounder, but Montreal did what they needed to. (Jim) Popp has won a lot more games than you media guys. Trading (Kevin) Glenn and giving the ball to Cato is good for his team. A young quarterback has to play if he’s going to develop. And getting rid of Glenn’s salary helps them with the cap ... -How many punts has Hamilton gotten blocked this year? ... Mental errors are why the Ticats are always getting punts blocked. Against Calgary they were incorrect in the count to the kick side and left a man unblocked. The last two were mental errors by the personal protector. They saw the scheme the week before and blocked it ... -Ricky Ray should be Toronto’s next QB coach, and let the “QB whisperer” develop another young guy. I think Willy will be better under Scott (Milanovich). Willy might lack the charisma to be an upper-echelon quarterback in this league. There’s no question about his skills ... -Toronto gave up too much. Is there that much of a difference between Kevin Glenn and Drew Willy other than age? Good on (Kyle) Walters ... The Argos got fleeced. http://slam.canoe.com/Slam/Football/CFL/Montreal/2016/09/13/22666454.html
  16. Whoa, take it back some. There are a lot of people, myself included, that have seen, and heard a hell of a lot of "stuff" that comes out from an incident, which when investigated does not resemble the actual facts. Nobody is saying a version of this incident didn't happen, but man, there are a few red flags that causes a pause, and a re-think. So don't be belittling those of us who "believe only half of what we see, and nothing of what we hear." It's called experience. It may take you while to get some.
  17. 'Round and 'round the player's bench Kato chased Duron Carter Stafford thought 'twas all in fun Popp should punt the weasel.
  18. Then, pardon me for the misunderstanding. It would be nice to sell out to only Bomber fans, but alas, it's not to be. As long as we sell out, then welcome to everyone!
  19. That sort of sounds like some posters on the Rider site. I don't agree with them, and I don't agree with your statement. Any teams' fans should be welcome here. And mostly, they are. I want to hear different outlooks, and we should welcome input regarding our own team. Its all in fun or jest, unless, of course, fools come on the forum. But that's rare, and they are readily handled anyways. Not to worry.
  20. StatsStuff Bombers -offensively 5th in scoring 7th in passing yards 8th in passing TDs 6th in possession time 5th in rushing yards 4th in rushing TDs 3rd in sacks allowed - yes, you read that right 2nd in turnovers WPG — 276 (25.1) Bombers - defensively 2nd in total points allowed 6th in sacks 1st in interceptions T2nd in forced fumbles 6th in pass knockdowns WPG — 239 (21.7) 9th in punting average BUT 2nd in NET punting average 5th in second down conversions 5th for most penalties 2nd best in two-and-outs Matt Nichols and Kevin Glenn have the same completion average 70.7 tied for fourth Kevin Glenn has more attempts and more yardage, but Nichols has a better QB efficiency 104% to 94% Nichols 7 TDs thrown to 1 interception Glenn 13 - 11 ratio Andrew Harris 2nd in rushing yards Bombers don't have a receiver in the top 20. Weston Dressler comes in at 21. 7 games played 561 yards. Tough to break in the top ten with those injuries... Ian Wild 6th in tackles 69, and Kevin Fogg is 9th with 56. Medlock and Paredes have each tried 42 FGs. Paredes has made 2 more. Medlock has not missed a convert. Paredes has missed 7 They are presently tied for the scoring lead at 127 points. Bombers now have the top 2 defenders at 5 interceptions. Leggett and now Heath.
  21. The factors involved indicate different. This trade was no spur of the moment, flip of the coin decision. There were circumstances and implications. Two weeks ago...no way trade is made. Then Ray goes down, Toronto gets a little more anxious. The demotion of Glenn sealed it. Better off with Willy? - if he played? We just don't know. There were questions. So that leaves Willy as a backup. Better off with Willy as a backup? Again, question marks. And kind of a big salary for question marks. Leaving the situation was risky and would not have gone any better as time moved on. As we've talked about it here, for a long time, if we could pick an ideal backup for your team...Kevin Glenn would be it. And voila, it's done. We all hope the best for Willy...it just wasn't a fit here, at this time, for whatever reason. This trade re-aligns the roster and upgrades the future, and avoids those nagging questions.
  22. Roughriders release controversial defensive lineman Khalif Mitchell ow.ly/gm4l3048B2s #CFL #Riders via @leaderpost Jones immediately added, he thought he was signing Kim Mitchell, singer-songwriter.
  23. A little perspective... Terry jones Edmonton sun Mike Reilly, leading the league in passing yards with 3,747 — 178 yards more than Calgary’s Bo Levi Mitchell — has five wins this season. - Nichols has six.
