  1. After Week 16 Bye - Hamilton Scott Cullen TSN -Trevor Harris, Ottawa – It came in a losing effort, but Harris had a monster game at B.C., throwing for 485 yards and a pair of touchdowns in 40-33 loss. He leads CFL quarterbacks with a 119.5 rating in 10 games. Note- This performance was followed up by the Sask. game where he was 12/21 for 120 yards...and he was pulled. -Jonathan Jennings, B.C. – On the winning side, Jennings spread the ball around, completing 20 of 25 passes for 348 yards and three touchdowns. He’s third in the CFL with 3,656 passing yards and third with 18 passing touchdowns. -Mike Reilly, Edmonton – Passed for 355 yards and two touchdowns, completing 32 of 38 passes, in a 40-26 victory at Winnipeg. He leads the league with 4,708 passing yards this season. CFL History In 1958, Ottawa & Hamilton played a regular season #CFL game in Philadelphia. It is also the last time Philly would see a good QB. #NFL -(The Aug 1958, Hamilton 13-7 win over Ottawa, was the only regular season #CFL game ever played on US soil featuring 2 Canadian teams) CFL Communications No #CFL team has ever had 2 players reach 100+ tackles in the same season; but @BCLions' @Bighill44 & @SolomonE56 are both on pace in 2016. Bill Lankhof - Toronto Sun A year ago, Hazelton and Gurley were both told they would not play in games following conduct detrimental to the team. “When it becomes habitual, it’s a problem, and there was a little more of that lately,” said Milanovich, without getting into specifics. Anytime we make a move like this there’s more than one reason. The biggest reason ... we still haven’t gotten the production,” said Milanovich. Kirk Penton - National Post The Red and White have the dreaded bye in the final week of the season this year, which means they are going to end up getting two weeks off before hosting the West final at McMahon Stadium on Nov. 20. Their final regular season game is on Oct. 30, which means they will go a whopping 20 days without hitting anyone in anger. BomberBuzz.com Gurley, who might just be the least problematic of the Big-Three, is someone the Bombers need to sign if they’re serious about giving QB Matt Nichols the weapons to make a Grey Cup run. It’s playoff time, and Matt Nichols needs weapons if the Bombers want to knock off the Lions and Stampeders. Nichols desperately needs that big-bodied, red-zone threat in particular, and that’s Tori Gurley. CFL In eight games with the Argos this year, Hazelton caught 27 passes for 361 yards and three touchdowns. ?‍?Derek Walker to the NFL?- out. Vidal Hazelton in? Should we be offended or honoured? ?☠⛔️ Hamilton is second worst in the league in giveaways with 37 – 15 of which came from fumbles while 16 of them from interceptions and six on downs. The only team with more giveaways on the season is the Toronto Argonauts with 38. The Tiger-Cats opponents have scored 109 points on those giveaways as well, the second most of any team in the CFL. the Ticats have 71 two-and-outs on the year, that’s the second most in the league (Saskatchewan has the most with 73). Hamilton is also third last in the league in time of possession (average of 29:11 per game). Davis Sanchez Hope these 3 Uber talented ex Argo WR's take advantage of these 2nd chances . Time to take this blessing of pro football seriously. Wpg.BlueBombers "Big body, yards, red zone production & touchdowns... that kind of experience is a good piece to add this time of year." - O'Shea on Gurley Herb Zurkowsky -Gazette 6 sacks - the Als’ offensive line surrendered, increasing their Canadian Football League total to 45 through 13 games. No team has relinquished more than 37. ?‍?That is until Drew Willy and the Argos allowed 6 on Thanksgiving Monday CFL.ca - Last week (week15) in the CFL, teams compiled a combined 241 points, an average of 60.3 points per game. That’s the highest average since Week 2 in 2015 where there was an average of 60.8 points per game. There were 24 touchdowns scored last week, or an average of six touchdowns per game – the highest for any week this season. Week 15 averaged 802 yards per game. Edmonton QB Mike Reilly is currently on pace to pass for 6,053 yards this season. He needs to average 323 yards per game to reach the elusive 6,000-yard mark. Mike Reilly and Bo Levi Mitchell each have 11 games with 300+ passing yards this season. Justin Medlock retook the lead with 172 points, four ahead of Rene Paredes’ 168. Each of them threaten the CFL field-goal record of 59 in one season. Medlock has 45 field goals and Paredes has 46 – the record is 59, set by David Ridgway in 1990. Ed Tait This from CFL stats guru Steve Daniel: the Lions lead the CFL in best average starting point for their offensive possessions, beginning at their own 40-yard line. The league average is the 36.3-yard line. Translating that over the Lions 180 possessions so far this season, that is an additional 681 yards of net field position or the equivalent of over 6 CFL field lengths. On a per start basis, here are the QBs that have been sacked the most and least along with an analysis of TD drive results. Of note, Trevor Harris has been a sacked a league-high 72 times for an average of 2.88 per game, Bo Levi Mitchell’s sack frequency is at the other end of the scale at just 1.26 times per game and he has led a CFL-best 83 TD drives. Zach Collaros leads all QBs in getting his club into the end zone at 22.5% of the time (54 TDs in 240 drives he has led) Jonathan Jennings is next at 19.9% and 2.11 sacks per game BL Mitchell is 19.3% and 1.26 sacks per game Matt Nichols is #9 out of 12 at 15% and 6th out of 12 with 2.35 sacks per game (include games with Edmonton) ?‍?Interesting to note, Drew Willy is #12 in TD% and 4th highest in sacks per game at 2.77 Rakeem Cato has 3.07 sacks/game, Ricky Ray 3/game and Trevor Harris has 2.88 sacks/game Montréal appointed Jacques Chapdelaine as interim head coach and his first game he led the Alouettes to a 38-11 win over Toronto. That marked the 59th in-season head coaching change in the CFL since 1950 and these new head coaches have now gone 28-31 (.475) in their initial games for their club. There are three players on pace for 200-point seasons in 2016 led by leading scorer Justin Medlock with 172, Rene Paredes with 168 and Ottawa’s Chris Milo at 150. Milo is on pace for 208 points which would be a new Ottawa club record (set by Terry Baker in 1991 with 202). The last time that three players hit the 200-point mark in the same year was 1995 when four player had 200+ points. All three players have a chance to reach the all-time single-season record for field goals made of 59 set by Dave Ridgway in 1990 (FGs to Week #15: Paredes 46, Medlock 45, Milo 41). These players are scheduled to serve Thanksgiving dinner at the Welcome Hall Mission following Monday afternoon’s game against the Edmonton Eskimos at Molson Stadium. That's right, after the game. They'll be sore, but it's all good in their eyes. Drew Edwards The Edmonton Eskimos have become the first CFL team to refuse to participate in TSN’s Live Mic gimmick. Chris Edwards -TSN I said criticism when warranted is fair, and what Maas pulled was ridiculous, dishonest and unacceptable. Blatant disregard for an agreement The league has also responded. “We are aware that Eskimos’ head coach Jason Maas and quarterback Mike Reilly did not wear live microphones,” said CFL director of communications Paulo Senra in a statement. “Any decision on discipline will be made later this week when we review all potential football related discipline.” Kirk Penton Nothing like giving the finger to the broadcaster that is pumping tens of millions dollars into the league coffers. #Eskimos Randy Turner Breaking: The Eskimos decision to decline using hot mics today has been endorsed by Donald Trump. Terry Jones Eskimos also declined to join other teams in opening dressing room to media at practice one day a week. John Hodge 3downnation -a victory over Ottawa on October 29 would give Winnipeg its first-ever single-season winning record at Investors Group Field. -Good things tend to happen when Richie Hall dials up blitzes — here’s hoping we see more pressure on opposing pivots as the season progresses. -Speaking of turnovers, the Bombers won that battle over B.C. by a 3-0 margin on Saturday. Winnipeg is now plus-27 on the season with 21 giveaways and a jaw-dropping 48 takeaways. -After a sack-free performance against B.C., the Bombers are now tied with Edmonton for second league-wide in sacks allowed with just 28. - Just playing Devil's Advocate here, but perhaps there were two reasons why Winnipeg running back Andrew Harris was called down on a game-deciding review by the Command Centre in Saturday's game against B.C.: 1) The ground can't cause a fumble and it appeared as though the ball came out as Harris hit the ground (it did to me at least) and, 2) Was his forward progress stopped? When was the whistle blown? The CFL Command Centre was getting roasted on Twitter by media, fans and CFL players alike Saturday afternoon but I wondered how much of the noise was warranted versus how many jumped on the negativity train because it was the thing to do at the moment? The League issued a statement to 3DownNation.com Saturday night and it read similar to what I wrote above. I'm not sure the criticism of them in the Andrew Harris case was warranted. ?‍?Those Argos are just...bad. Willy, the sack magnet, was downed 6 more times. 1st, he plays behind our sievy O-Line, now he plays behind Toronto's. Combine that with his...propensity to turtle, one of these times, when he gets sacked, it'll be from a team. 2. Is this a photo of Gurley getting his head screwed on right?
  3. Can they at least make Maas wear earphones...big earphones?
  4. Nah, that tweet was already in my ICYMI review. When I saw your post, I remembered seeing that exact thought...from Randy Turner. So, I thought, what a coincidence eh?
  5. The rule and ruling are separate issues. Take the emotion out of the call. Its quite simple. There was a ruling on the field. There was insufficient evidence to overturn the ruling. The call on the field stands. If it was ruled a fumble..the same command decision would have been handed down. Insufficient evidence to overturn. S**t happens.
  6. The question is, regarding Jones, is how long will he commit to the Riders? If he smells other opportunities, is he gone? But for now, he gets credit..for the wins. How he built this team, and its components, was handled pretty shabbily, if you ask me. AND, how will he handle Darian Durant and his new contract going forward? He should go all out in keeping Durant, but will he be influenced by Franklin's availability? This is a really big question for Jones the GM. And the contracts of his new signings in next year's roster? And how about the draft next year and the picks he's traded? Still, lots of questions for the stability of that team.
  7. I'm curious as to which 3 plays you're talking about. I know there was the Kohlert close call, but remind me of the other two?
  8. The 2-3 (or more) games we didn't win last year, because of kicking, we are now winning because of Medlock, and the difference is huge.
  9. Boy, the Bombers sure don't know how to win easy lately.. Great effort...another 0 sack performance by the O-Line. But 12 more penalties..gotta stop. Special teams is rickety right now, 'cept for Fogg But what a nice performance, and play calling with the offence. All things considered, we poked, we prodded, got burnt (hamed,) answered back, and scored points when we had to. I saw some magnificent catches by that BC team, and they were well covered. Good job Big Blue!
  10. Two very good CFL games this weekend..going right down to the wire. Very entertaining.
  11. Pretty good for a Nichol and dimer eh? But seriously, you're right. Nichols is giving us everything we need to win and more. Some of his throws today were spot on. He's not going to get you 422 yards like Jennings did, but, what did that get Jennings?
  12. I cannot describe how big a play Moe Leggett had in that tres exciting game. Play of the game, week, and month. Never mind his stellar play in the game itself. Big int. And to come back into the game after being injured. What a player.
  13. Hoping hard to see McDuffie back in the lineup. He makes a HUGE difference. No offence to Heath, but he was no-name compared to brand name.
  14. For your perusal...in case you missed it. THE INSIDERS SAY (Kirk Penton) CFL coaches and managers give their anonymous thoughts on what they’re talking about behind closed doors: (Mike) Reilly might get 6,000 (passing) yards and still not be the MOP nominee in our division ... I wish we had gotten our games with the Riders early in the season. They're going to be tough to beat now ... The release of all those Argos receivers isn't totally surprising. Let's just say the streets are tempting. Big city. Big lights. Self control needed. Otherwise football will suffer ... I'm biased when it comes to defence because I played on that side of the ball, but did you see Calgary's defence kick the (bleep) out of (Kent) Austin's offence? ... Want to beat the Stamps? You have to get them off their game by controlling the ball, winning the field position battle and getting (Bo Levi) Mitchell off his spot. Not sure George Hopkins has had to wash 19's jersey yet this season ... The MOP is Bo Levi Mitchell. Enough said ... The Eskimos are having success because they're running the football now. (Mike) Reilly and Co. can pass the ball with the best of them. Their defensive line is so tough to block for four quarters. They make an average secondary better ... How did Toronto end up where it is? First, you need to settle on one quarterback. If it's (Drew) Willy then trade (Ricky) Ray, or the room will always be divided. Next, if you're going to pay a mostly Canadian offensive line that much, they have to produce better. Also, top paid guys on defence can't be part time play makers. So many teams play a variation of coach (Rich) Stubler's style of D that without big plays it becomes easier to attack than years ago ... The Bombers are a team that feeds off turnovers and big specials teams plays. They are playing extremely fast, but the offensive personnel isn't dominant yet. They were/are playing above their skill set. Coming back to the median now. They're definitely a playoff team in 2016, but it will be interesting to see if they can regain that momentum ... Edmonton has a shot to pull it off and get back to the Grey Cup ... The most outstanding special teams player right now? (Chris) Rainey is probably the most dangerous guy out there. For whatever reason (Brandon) Banks has slowed down in the punt return game. They've had challenges special teams-wise. But what about (Sean) Whyte? He's had an outstanding year. I'd have to put him right up there. There have been return touchdowns, but it hasn't been very explosive this year ... So now it's OK to contact an official, intended or not. Just go coach from the booth. That's (bleep) ... The Argos need to find out who wanted Drew Willy and authorized giving up two high draft picks for him. Trump has a better chance of winning the Mexican vote than they do of winning that trade ... I've coached in a lot of games in an empty dome in Toronto, but I like their new stadium. That place should work with a winning team, but the Argos are a (bleep) sandwich and nobody call sell that. (Jim) Barker and (Scott) Milanovich shouldn't be sleeping good at night. It's almost firing season ... The Argos cuts were a little surprising. They plan on playing two first year Canadians in those spots. For a team that's still in a playoff hunt, that's extremely surprising. They even said it's going to take them a while to get used to it. You'd think with hosting a Grey Cup they'd want to keep trying ... The Tiger-Cats are no more banged up than some other teams, just at different spots. But with their Canadian content and quarterback they haven't played as well as people expected ... Darian Durant should and will stay in Regina. I think they have the deal done already. Everything I've heard is he wants to be there and they're going to do it. It's hard for them to move on without him. He's played well. If they go in with an unknown guy like (James) Franklin, it's a pretty big risk. BY THE NUMBERS 221 – Man games lost for the Roughriders going into Week 15, the most in the CFL 70 – Man games lost for the Lions going into Week 15, the fewest in the CFL 18 – Players who are on pace to be 1,000-yard receivers this season 3 – Players who were 1,000-yard receivers in 2014
  15. ?‍?This game might be the last time Bomber fans get to see Richie Leone up close. “He is an exceptional punter,” Zalud (BC PR punter) said of Leone. “He most definitely can punt better than anyone I’ve ever seen. Field goals, kickoffs, he’s right up there with everybody else as well. He’s what we call a great combo guy.” Justin Medlock of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers would not only second that motion, he’s the leading proponent and endorser of Leone as the next Jon Ryan, the former Bomber punter who holds the Canadian Football League single-season average record — 50.6 yards — a feat which launched him toward an NFL career with the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks. ?‍?Leone currently has a 50.1 punting average. 1st in net punting avg. 38.6 - In comparison, Medlock has a 43 yard avg. and net - 35.9. good enough for fourth on the net list
  16. It's not Darvin Adams who will look at this with the shakes, but rather the opposing team's secondaries, who, instead of going meh, will now go wah, or words to that effect. Darvin, and the rest of the receivers can look upon this as a re-awakening of an offence. Yes, it can be that good. All that it would take is a little imagination and excitement from LaPo. Now, is that asking too much?
  17. So, he reached out to the Bombers last night? Would that have been around supper time? My, my, we just showed we're serious, and I bet the team is pumped.
  18. Gurley would be an upgrade to our receiving corps and add another dimension to our offence. This can't even be argued. Do we really need him? - Well, do we really want to get better? This addition would make our team better. No question. Adams isn't here yet. So what? When he's back, then we'll have even more options. If I were Walters, I'd give up my next meal and go sign this Hurdy-Gurley guy right now. Let's get serious...and show it.
  19. Harris is moving up in the rankings and will have his chance to overtake Nichols with good performances here on in. But there are some who consider that Nichols played one of his better games last week in a losing effort. From the site: The CFL.ca Quarterback Index is a weekly power ranking of quarterbacks across the CFL. The ranking reflects recent performance, historical value, statistical indicators, team success and overall on-field play.
  20. CFL.ca Staff who belongs where heading into Week 16: BO LEVI MITCHELL CGY THIS WEEK: 1 | LAST WEEK: 1 Against an aggressive defence in a tough place to play, Bo Levi Mitchell made facing the Ticats look easy, guiding his team to a 36-17 win in the Hammer. Leading the league in touchdown passes (26) and ranking second in passing yards (4,590) to go with a career .851 winning percentage (40-7-1), the Katy, Texas native is on track to add ‘Most Outstanding Player’ to his list of achievements. MIKE REILLY EDM THIS WEEK: 2 | LAST WEEK: 2 Mike Reilly pumped his fists hard after connecting with Derel Walker on an out route and watching him sprint for a 61-yard game-clinching touchdown, and for good reason — it led the Esks to their second straight victory against a West Division team ahead of them in the standings. Edmonton is a key player in the West again and Reilly is a critical part of that. JONATHON JENNINGS BC THIS WEEK: 3 | LAST WEEK: 3 It’s hard to imagine that Jonathon Jennings’ 348-yard, three-touchdown outing against Ottawa over the weekend was only his second best statistical performance of the season. The 24-year-old sophomore continues to thrive and has the Lions in a position to clinch a playoff spot for the 20th consecutive season — this time well ahead of schedule. MATT NICHOLS WPG THIS WEEK: 4 | LAST WEEK: 4 Matt Nichols was inconsistent for the second straight game, but still gave the Bombers a chance in a high-scoring affair against the Eskimos. Trailing 29-13 heading into the fourth, Nichols led Winnipeg to within six points, but in the end it was too little too late. A seven-game winning streak feels like ancient history as Nichols and the Bombers are in a dog fight in the West right now. TREVOR HARRIS OTT THIS WEEK: 5 | LAST WEEK: 6 Trevor Harris put on a clinic against the BC Lions in Vancouver, throwing for a career-high 485 yards — although it wasn’t enough to avoid Ottawa’s sixth loss in nine games. Harris’ quarterback rating of 119.5 continues to lead the league while his 74.7 completion percentage is second only to Ricky Ray. There’s a good chance he’ll be quarterbacking the REDBLACKS in the Grey Cup this year. ZACH COLLAROS HAM THIS WEEK: 6 | LAST WEEK: 5 After Zach Collaros left the game with what the team described as an upper body injury, the Ticats fell to 3-5 on the season with their starting quarterback under centre. The 28-year-old has thrown at least one interception in five straight games, including six interceptions against just three touchdowns in his last four starts — three of which were losses. DARIAN DURANT SSK THIS WEEK: 7 | LAST WEEK: 7 Just as Darian Durant was playing some of his best football and the Riders had won two games in a row, the bye week arrived for Chris Jones and the Green and White. The Riders will hope the week off doesn’t disrupt any of their momentum as they cling to their playoff hopes in Week 16. RAKEEM CATO MTL THIS WEEK: 8 | LAST WEEK: 8 Vernon Adams Jr. will have to wait. Rakeem Cato sliced and diced the Argos’ defence last weekend to the tune of a 78 per cent efficiency rating and four touchdown passes with no interceptions. Cato has completed 74.5 per cent of his passes this season and thrown six touchdown passes against one interception, and looked like a changed man altogether under Jacques Chapdelaine. A repeat performance will see him rise. DREW WILLY TOR THIS WEEK: 9 | LAST WEEK: 9 The Argos’ newly-added pivot didn’t get much help in his first start in double blue, but the numbers certainly don’t flatter Drew Willy. The 29-year-old threw for 226 yards on 24-of-35 passing (a meager 6.5 yards per attempt) in his team’s 38-11 loss to Montreal. He’ll get a chance to silence his critics in his first home game as the Stampeders pay a visit to BMO on Thanksgiving. HENRY BURRIS OTT THIS WEEK: 10 | LAST WEEK: 11 Any thought that a quarterback change might be coming in Ottawa was put to rest with Trevor Harris’ monstrous Week 15 performance. Still, last year’s Most Outstanding Player winner in Henry Burris provides plenty of value to a REDBLACKS team that leads the East Division and could play for another Grey Cup this season. DAN LEFEVOUR TOR THIS WEEK: 11 | LAST WEEK: 10 http://www.cfl.ca/2016/10/03/quarterback-index-harris-spot-despite-hard-luck-loss/
  21. To get the Hurdy-Gurley man would truly be a "get" for this football club. A much needed piece. Walters has invested in a couple of nice moves over the summer, and a move like this would rank right up there. Do it..

It then simulates 10,000 replications of the remaining regular season schedule. The first place team in each division is the one with the most regular season wins. For each replication, the model keeps track of which team finished first. For instance, if Winnipeg finished first in the Western Division in 1,990 of the 10,000 replications, then its first place probability is 1,990 / 10,000 = 19.90%. The model is updated weekly based on the results of games played that week. CFL News Austin on explanation given to him about @Filer64 procedure penalty, "I'd rather not comment for the league.. Rod Pedersen The rumour I'm getting out of Montreal is that Anthony Calvillo will be the Als' head coach next season even if he's not entirely ready. There apparently are two reasons for this: 1) Calvillo's the popular choice as a fan favourite in Montreal and 2) Defensive Coordinator Noel Thorpe would've been in line for the job but he fell out of favour after trying to bolt for Edmonton in the off-season.
