Good gravy, it doesn't matter to me one way or the other about AC and his career, but to deny anybody or any team for that matter its due, because they have played against weaker teams, in weaker divisions, would put asterisks on all kinds of performances of individuals and teams.
No, you take the whole picture together, weak teams, strong teams.

Good performances over a period of years and years should be one criteria in determining how well one has performed.
AC has done that and much more.
He deserves the credit he gets.

Reilly had absolutely nothing to gain by waiting for free agency. Everyone in the CFL knew that Mack wasn't going to outbid any team for an unproven player or release Buck to accommodate a new starter.  No other team was even going to pay Reilly starters money.  Reilly got everything he wanted from Edmonton so it was a good business decision for him.

    Here's a non-playing side to AC's story:

What are you even talking about? From 2010 thru 2012 the guy won a Grey Cup, while putting up typical AC numbers: 5000 yds a season and a 3:1 TD/int ratio. He had a sweet thing going with Trestman and wasn't showing any signs of slowing down ... not until last year.
Ideally he would have quit after 2012 and spared himself that awful concussion but I can't blame a guy for hanging onto the only job he's ever held in his adult life.

C'mon you guys, it's not AC's fault the Bombers have been such a shitty team.

Guy is one of the best ever, it's been a privilege to watch him.

My original point was that Buck wasn't known as a tactician on the field.
Absolutely everything he displayed as a player would not indicate that he would be a great qb coach.

He isn't ruining the thread at all. Free agency hasn't happened, neither has the draft, and our coaching staff isn't complete, nevermind potential trades that may or may not happen not only between us but other teams as well. It's a valid point.

Why would we want buck as a qb coach???? Only because he has roots here that's a horrible reason to hire a guy.
Is it because of his stellar play with the Blue.....????
Is it his style which only worked when he would scramble and make a play on the fly with his legs???
Is it because he looked focus on the sidelines when he played and that he never appeared to be dazed or spaced out???
I see zero reason for him to be qb coach.
I'd rather they bring in a guy who with a good reputation for game planning and good with his x and o's and someone who could mentor.

Lots of players liked Burke too ... just saying. Not really a super endorsement in light of that IMO, but it remains to be seen. Gotta give this new regime a chance ...

Exactly Blitz.  I've seen teams go from losers to championship winners in 1 year with barely any change in the team lineup.  I've seen it happen in the NFL, NCAA, CFL, etc....  The right coach that can inspire you to win and do your best is 10X better then having the best players on your team and having a **** coach that does nothing but bring you down and point out everyone's faults.  A good coach can inspire you and make you lose your jitteriness before a game.  He can make players make plays that normally they'd hesitate to make.  These 2 things can make a HUGE difference in a game.  Take away Hall's jitteriness and all of a sudden he's a QB that has composure and keeps his foot planted.  Sure he can't launch the ball down the field, but even with a weak arm, can makes 10-15 yard plays, and doesn't hesitate when he sees an open man.  On the other hand, a **** coach neither inspires nor does he build confidence in his players.  He makes his players feel inadequate, and that if they make mistakes they're going to lose their job.  So they become jittery, they not only make mistakes, but they make big ones.  They drop passes, throw in-completions, etc... because no one believes in them.  In turns Hall, Goltz, Elliott, etc... into QB that look like they're crap.

Coach's make ALL the difference on a team.  I'm not saying you don't need some good players on your team, but any team, no matter how bad they are, can be a lot better with the right coach.

Ever the apologist. what did Burke do that made him look even the least bit qualified to be a head coach? Lapo had the same qbs and his teams never looked so out of it as Burke did.

Nothing wrong with a person making a sound career decision. Make the wrong choice and it can follow you around. Scott Arniel goes to a bad team in Columbus and bingo. Way back when Mike Riley went to the Chargers as HC and that was a nightmare. It's like people who criticized some people who didn't care to interview for th a bomber HC job. Ultimately you have to do what you think is a sound move and not just jump on something that may not be in your or your family's best interest. It is disappointing when "fans"can't respect that.
