Montreals D has only given up 3 TD's against in 3 games, they are probably the best D in the league so gotta keep that in mind. It's not like the O didn't move the ball against them, they just couldn't get it in the endzone... some games your O will put up 40, some games they will kick a bunch of fg's... I think special teams and Defense plays a huge role, to say the win was lucky would be like saying D and Special teams don't matter.

Yes I would have to agree with this.  The Bombers won because they made plays... not because the Als were shooting themselves in the foot or anything.  I would add that the Randle INT was a bad decision by Cato but he had a ton of pressure in his face from the Bombers D so that's a credit to them as well.

Yup, no tail tucking from my point of view.Just a real hard fought game, with give and take on both sides. In the end we did what we had to do. Yes gave up big plays but got down right stingy when we had to. All in all a good win.

I will keep battling this idea that the Bombers were bad. Ya, this one wasn't nearly as pretty or efficient as the W against the Riders. Still I thought both teams played well tonight.

Bombers' offense couldn't finish their drives but they still moved the ball. Willy makes all the difference. The passing game was so much more effective. They had the right idea with hot routes tonight but still have to sharpen them. Couple of knockdowns by the DL hurt them too. I think the offense after two games with Willy overall has a positive outlook. Montreal was extremely aggressive tonight but the Bombers didn't fold like they did last week.

The D has 3-5 breakdowns a game. Today we survived despite those, but they still need to be cut down. I thought they looked like they were sorting things out more. Leggett was much more like the safety we saw last year, and like Willy, has a huge impact on his side of the ball. The weak spot still is the DL. We can't get pressure and that's why QBs are putting up big numbers. The new guys on the line helped a bit, so I'm hoping that they continue to tinker to find the right combo. People in the chat complained about the run D but I thought that wasn't an issue tonight.

Lots to work on, but growth in the right direction. I'm pretty pleased with the outing.

For those of us too challenged to use the chat room ... For those of us ... who don't know a gif from a pdf ... For those of us ... who value our own opinion and just can't type fast enough to remember what everyone is discussing and don't want to scroll up all the time in case we can't find our place again

Lazy and and a sense of entitlement.....have had better and more incisive reporting....from some posters on this site.

Good reporters do not need to be spoon fed stuff from the coach, or wait until something thrown up...finally sticks to the wall.  Or worry about being just another lame Twitter clown...

They follow the team closely,  they observe, they analyze, and with any luck..... communicate actual, relevant information, to the fans, with a modicum of wit or style.

Of course, that is simply.....asking the moon, from this crew.

I agree.  Lawless manages to provide informational tweets, talk for two hours on H&L with more discussion, insight and info and still writes column's.  You can even catch him on H&L when he's getting hyped up about a topic that he wrote about for the next day and he's trying not to just recite his column.  I've heard him say "well, I wrote about this for tomorrow, but..." and he goes off on the topic.  because he actually seems to enjoy covering sports.  These clowns cant even do ONE of those things well.

Exactly.  If they tweeted something like "Willy looking terrific and had lots to say.  Read tomorrow's paper for full coverage", then maybe I could see that.  Tweeting and newspaper coverage are two different things.  Lawless tweets stuff all the time AND talks about it on H&L and still his column on the topic usually adds even more.  These clowns could learn to do that.  or dont tweet at all.  To tweet and say you're barely watching, why on earth would anyone read a column written by someone who barely watched?

Am I the only one irritated by this garbage? It's one thing for them to do an awful job of covering the practices that they're assigned to, but when they get to the point where they're openly mocking it ... it just annoys me.

For once I agree with the Power Rankings they look fairly accurate; though I don't feel Calgary is as much a power house as it was.  Hamilton definitely has to be second if they aren't first since Calgary barely won that game  with a last second fg that could have went either way.  I'm not entirely sure if I would put Toronto ahead of Winnipeg but I guess we will determine that when Winnipeg and Toronto match up against each other.

I left after the first session... here's a few of my thoughts from skelly/scrimmage.... take them for what they're worth (not much)

    - Willy is clearly the best QB we have (not that that's really in question)... Brohm is no lock for the #2 spot, I thought Marve was the second best QB today.... Portis is impressively mobile but was inaccurate in his throwing
    - Anderson and Scott both had a couple nice runs
    - D-line looks intense and very vocal, like what I see from them
    - JFG continues to make impressive catches and appears to have no fear running across the middle... he could certainly be the "next Watson"
    - Hurl took most first team reps at MLB... would like to see Denicos Allen there a bit
    - I thought Stoudemire looked a little over-matched at field HB
    - Gordon has impressive wheels, could be a nice deep threat
    - really impressed by Hijrullahu's leadership on teams
    - Darvin Adams made a few nice catches
    - Goossen and Collins (I think, I didn't actually see the DL's #) got into a bit of a scuffle.... was broken up quickly by teammates... good to see some aggression from the young man... Wylie was giving him **** for something earlier in practice, didn't really seem like a big deal but they were going back and forth for a bit
    - Picard is a very vocal leader... seems guys really respect him
    - Overall seemed like a good, intense practice... chatted with a few other Bomber fans that were there... possibly other people from this site??

    Non-football thoughts from the morning
    - Dom Picard seems to hate running sprints (can't really blame him)
    - Paul Wicek appeared to be wearing women's Toms shoes
    - I nailed the timing since it started to rain about a minute after I got in my car.

Hope you guys enjoyed my input...

"Did you know his mom is a conceptual artist?  Such a rich environment.  And he plays football!!!  After growing up in a house with a mom who's a conceptual artist!!!  Truly he's a renaissance man.  Bombers recover a fumble for a touchdown.  So how do you think family meals went?  Mom wants to talk about art, and the son wants to talk about football!!!  Boy, I sure wouldn't want to be the dad, getting in the middle of that!!!  Seven players from each team ejected.  And what a classic CFL name!  Corduroy Jones!  That's got to be up there in the pantheon of great CFL names.  There's been so many names over the years.  Appears to be a sniper in the press box firing at the referees.  Theodore Wallaby.  Glassface McButternuts.  Idaho Youdaho.  Great names.  And the tattoos those guys have!!!  Farhan Lalji has a report from the sidelines for us.  Hopefully about tattoos.  Farhan..."

I expect a Grey Cup win in 2015. I expect a Grey Cup every year. I will settle for 2 things. Making the playoffs and eliminating the Riders from the playoffs in the process. The season won't live up to my lofty expectations but I will still be happy.

As much as people get excited about how far we have come as a society, and how far we still have to go (and I for one am so happy that we've come so far, I think it's fantastic!), the fact is that there are still many countries that would execute Michael Sam for who he is.  And that's just wrong.  But no one seems to give a crap about that for some reason.

I don't know how many of the anti-socer people watched the last Olympics but the Canadian women were phenomenal. They play a very tough, physical brand and did this country proud . It's training camp , and the up to 3000 people will have to give way to a packed, world event taking place in our city.Socer is the most popular sport in the world and in Canada. Set aside your aversions to a sport you just don't understand or is not your cup of tea and support the fact that Winnipeg scooped this major event.

ya I got your point and I understand.I agree more advanced notice would be good.Do you get my point? Just because an event isn't your thing, why drag it down? This is a huge event for Winnipeg . I'm not comparing sports.I prefer hockey, CFL, NFL, and then soccer.
