Agreed.  I was in Brandon for the Wheat Kings playoff game on Saturday and was stunned to hear the True North shout out during the anthem.  I get it during Jets games (although the circle jerk the fans give themselves afterwards is a different matter) but it's weird to hear it at other events completely unrelated to TNSE.

Did he? Or did Obi Wan take a dive?  Obi Wan basically stopped fighting once he saw Luke was watching, and turned off his light saber as Vader took his final swing.  Vader didn't seem to know what was going on either as he kicks Obi Wan's cloak around almost to see where the hell he went.  It was a stalemate up until that point.

Two things... Whenever I hear the name Maroon first thing I think of is Bugs Bunny saying "what a maroon" or "ultra-maroon".
Second, when Getzlaf is on the ice should there be an occasional Riders suck chant?

They won't make a lot of trades, but Chiarelli in for MacT is the quickest and surest way to respectability for that team...

Sad to see him go. He was one of my favourites when I first started following the Bombers. Seems like a great guy too.

Arjei Franklin paid tribute to him on his Facebook page:

I wanted to take a moment to share a little bit about a great teammate and better friend Romby Bryant. I was blessed to be teammates with Romby for 5 straight years across two teams. I can tell you this. Romby is one of the hardest working athletes I have ever met. He is also one of the most talented players I have come across. But what is most important is that he is as real as they come. A straight shooter and loyal friend.

Ill never forget the time Romby decided on his own that he was going volunteer at a soup kitchen. He didn't ask for a jersey to wear. There were no cameras our interviews. All he wanted to do was volunteer his time as any other person would. I know that Romby would never share these types of things as he is too humble. But I felt it was important that people know that this guy has a genuine heart to help others.

If you look through this guys Facebook page you won't see one football pic. Only pics of his family. What is most important to him is not the glamour of being a football star but simply the relationships in his life.

So as a former teammate and life long friend I want to say congratulations on an unbelievable career.
    Salute!

I'll also add that yes the FAA creates the regulations but they do not investigate crashes.  The NTSB has that job and they want cameras in the cockpit (and have for 15 years).

Yes, because that is exactly what is being suggested.  Tons of cameras & we want them installed yesterday.

Oh by the way, the FAA recommended cameras 10 years ago as a post crash tool for investigators.  Some pilots objected due to privacy concerns.

By that logic though, why do we have voice and data recorders?  They dont stop anyone from crashing a plane if they really want to.  But they do help tell us what happened and why.  A camera wouldnt just be valuable in cases of pilot action.  In cases of malfunction it can still show what the pilots were doing, how they reacted non-verbally to the situation and each other, body language, facial expressions.  This isnt a matter of "we never needed it before", its that technology didnt catch up.  Now there is no excuse.

I'm sick and tired of the Twitter feed inundating us with Rider fans showing off their god awful green wardrobe while on vacation.  Do you ******* own any other clothes?

A  couple of years ago while vacationing in Punta Cana my wife and I were walking along the beach and came across a group of Neanderthals all decked out in Rider green.  They had Rider blankets, shirts, jerseys, gnomes and flags.  I so wanted to walk up to them and yell out RIDERS SUCK but they were pissed to the gills and I was out manned 12 to 1. Not an even battle.

So Rider fans, leave your green at home and let the rest of us enjoy our vacation.  And please can we somehow block those tweets of Rider fans wearing green on vacation.

I have been converting over to using Kodi and outside of wanting to watch live sports at decent quality ... you could almost cut cable completely in the near future and simply stick with a good internet plan.   Most episodes of any show are uploaded within a few hours and at HD quality.

Good lord.  Quite a bit of racism flying around here.

I love a good debate.  A few points:

    - "Indian" is a loaded term.  Its also the correct term legally and one used by the majority of aboriginal people I know (and am related to) but when non-Aboriginals use it, it's almost always with disdain.  Dont use it.  There are other terms that dont immediately come with racist connotations.

    - We should be proud to have a society of many cultures and the goal should not be assimilation in the sense that some people are talking here.  The goal should not be to make every person that comes here into a white Christian.  Every single one of us, Aboriginals included, are not that far removed from being immigrants to this country.  Saying that, however, I also believe that if people want to come here, they should want to embrace North American culture (which is not to say "white").

    - The Reserve system is broken and can never be repaired.  To fix the "problem" requires courage that no politician will ever have because it will likely mean short-term career suicide for the greater good.  Aboriginal leaders do not want to fix the problem.  They do not want an end to the reserve system which is broken and does not work.  The culture of most aboriginals is not the ceremonies and culture of their ancestors.  Those aboriginal people I have known who have had success fought hard and struggled to leave the reserve and in many cases were treated as out casts by their own people.

The protests that happen are almost always BS.  There was a protest a few weeks ago where aboriginals shut down Portage and yelled racist slurs at passing motorists.  What point did this have?  These protests against the Anti-Terror bill, what point do they have?  How many of those protestors know what they are protesting and how many are simply told by their leaders that big bad Harper is out to ruin the poor "Indian"?

A friend of mine is a very intelligent, successful aboriginal woman and even she gets caught up in the "us vs them" mentality.  She once linked to some protest on FB (cant remember what it was) and was adament that the police were abusing the innocent protestors and to look at the video for evidence.  The video she posted so a calm, quiet, professional police force and a mob of aboriginals screaming, yelling, throwing objects, striking the police and many had their young children with them.  I realised then that this wasnt a matter of opinion....you can't win a debate when both sides are seeing completely different things.

    - The residential schools were horrible.  They were horrible in idea and practice.  No question.  Im white and my family has fostered many aboriginal kids.  The agency really doesnt care what we do as white foster families (though publicly they dislike it) but we have always tried to respect the culture and taken part in pow-wows, smudgings etc.  On the flip side, we've paid for private school in some cases to provide a better education.  It's not about being a good aboriginal or being a good white person, its about being a good, educated person.

    - Anyone who is against gays on religious grounds in 2015 needs to seek help.  Period.  On the flip side, people crapping on religion and the bible dont get it.
