  1. Sad to hear about The Dream.  I was never a huge fan of his, at least initially, growing up.  My 1st real exposure to him was at the end of his career when Vince saddled him with the polka dot gimmick.  Once the internet era came along though, I was able to see video of him in his prime and I had a new respect for him and his abilities.

  2. for those who have or do, im about 3 episodes into better call saul if you havent watched it but did breaking bad its must watch

Just getting into Better Call Saul.  I watched the 1st episode when it came out and wasn't overly impressed so I didn't watch anymore.  I started running out of shows to watch without the wife so I decided to give it another shot and I'm glad I did.

Tim Brown is stil available ;)

Good call. I think if we signed him now his contract would be guaranteed for the season. So maybe the Bombers give him a look once the season starts, if Stoudermire's injury lingers and if none of the in house guys look good...
    What?
Players on the roster to start the season get some type of guarantee. That's why teams often sign guys right after the season has started. I believe Romby Bryant was an example of this last year.
Some guys have roster bonuses, but nobody's contract is guaranteed until after the 9th game. They get paid per game if on active, reserve or injured list, so teams might time signing guys in a way to avoid paying them a game cheque in-season.
Why did the Bombers wait until after the season officially started last season to sign Romby Bryant? It was contract related.
Yeah it was contract related as in he was under contract to the Argos. Bryant was one of the last cuts from the Argos TC and then signed with the Bombers less than a week later.
No that wasn't it at all. Argos cut Bryant. We then brought him in for a tryout/look, but I recall Oshea saying we wouldn't officially sign him until after the season begun.
    Link?

So the Coles notes version is that the Argo's cut him on June 22, the Bombers confirmed they were bringing him in for a look on June 24th and the season started on June 26th.

Add this quote from O'Shea, and I'd say it had more to do with timing than contract issues.  There just simply wasn't enough time to work him out and figure out if he's still good enough to play before the season started.

“He’s an extremely professional football player,” O’Shea said. “He will work extremely hard. And people will possibly question his age. If he shows he’s just as fast and can get off the jams like he’s been doing, and all reports say he still can, then we’ll have to consider where he fits. But he’s certainly somebody we’re going to be interested in.”

  4. Again... I ask if Veltung is even on the team? I never see his name either good or bad. He ran a 4.39 at WSU Cougars Football day and ran a 4.46 at U of I... 4 years later! This man has talent and lots of it! What's happened to him? Did he hit on the coaches wife or what?

He's missed the last two days of camp due to an injury so there's not much to report on.

  5. A good friend of mine is a diehard penguins fan and he says lemieux and burkle have been butting heads for a while. He said it goes back to at least last May when they fired Ray shero. Mario wanted to keep him but burkle flexed his muscle as majority owner.

Whether or not thats the reason, who knows but it could play a part in this.

As far as I'm concerned, a Bob Irving call of the game is better in pre-season, anyhow, because he's gonna know a hell of a lot more about the players by that point, then the jerkoffs on TSN...

Actually it sounds like the games will be on TSN1290, not CJOB... So....

    Source?

From the link in the OP:

Fans can tune in to TSN radio stations across the country for live coverage of the CFL pre-season, including both games featuring the Alouettes on TSN Radio 690 in Montréal, Both Blue Bombers games on TSN Radio 1290 in Winnipeg, both games featuring the Redblacks on TSN Radio 1200 in Ottawa, both games featuring the Lions on TSN Radio 1040 in Vancouver, and the Argos first pre-season game on Tuesday, June 9 on TSN Radio 1050 in Toronto.

  7. Semi-related, has anyone renewed or gotten a mortgage lately? I just renewed with BMO for five years at 2.15% (variable). That's bananas! They were also offering 2.64% fixed, but I'm not so sure rates will be in a hurry to go back up. Plus I can switch to fixed at any time. Best of both worlds!

We're with First National and our term is almost up.  We've been doing the variable mortgage & they've offered us a very similar deal to renew.  We will probably renew with them but we're still going to shop around a little bit and see if someone can beat that.

  8. todays fp article by ed tait says nick moore, who works out with waggoner in florida, was already in his ear.  Article says Winnipeg and Bombers, but i wonder how long ago this was exactly and if BC, moore's previous team, was in fact the name being thrown around. would explain also why BC had him on neg list

Just out of curiosity whether or not BCs scouts found this diamond or if he was previously mentioned by a fellow lion player (at the time) to take a flyer out on him. Not discrediting that teams didnt go after him yesterday, but if his initial appeal was based on his own talents turning heads or that heads were turned to his direction.

In any case the article said Moore was already telling him hed be a bomber, he gonna come to winnipeg prior to the supp. draft.  odd.

  9. I'm simply stating that Phoenix used to have UFC at good quality every time and that the TSN feeds were razor sharp.    Those two parts are gone and the rest of the selection I can mostly get using 1channel.    Phoenix used to be something else (forget the name) which was canned in January...  these add ons come and go frequently.

Navi X I don't use often because I hate the interface,  but it definitely has the best selection of american channels for live tv.   It will be the go to app once the Evil Dead series commences!  I don't think any other add ons has the Starz channel.

    Phoenix replaced Mash Up.

Kodi is (and always has been in my experience with it) a mixed bag as far as longevity goes .  Add ons for TV shows & movies (like 1Channel, Genesis, etc) never seem to go away but the ones streaming live content are much more likely to go down.  How long each one of those streaming add ons last varies quite a bit too.  I just enjoy them while I can & look for a new one when I need to (unless I hear about one from someone in the meantime).

  10. The TSN feeds weren't working for me on any of the add-ons I tried (Phoenix itself was working for other feeds though).  I looked around a little bit and it seems TSN changed their encryption about a month ago so that's why the feeds aren't working at the moment.  I'm sure it's just a matter of time before someone cracks it though.

I'm trying to find the ESPN schedule for this year so I can find an alternate feed if the TSN ones aren't working.  The CFL website is pretty dated (they only have the 2013 US TV schedule posted) so hopefully something pops up soon.

  11.

Mad Max looks like it might be good

Mad Max looks amazing....  they did reshoots because the studio thought the movie was looking so good that they pumped in tens of millions of more dollars to make it even more awesome!

I went to Mad Max last night and it was great, I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10 (mainly for the visuals).  It sure isn't the low budget indy film that the original was and they put every dime to pretty good use.  I'd recommend seeing it in theatres rather than waiting to watch at home.  I thought it was interesting that the same actor was the main villain in this one (as Immortan Joe) & the original ( as Toecutter).  He's completely unrecognizable in this one though so if you didn't know beforehand, you probably would never imagine it was the same guy.

  12. I'm satisfied for now, time will tell in the end though as it does with all drafts.  Like most, I was disappointed in the lack of name recognition in some of the picks but after reading more, I'm a little more optimistic.

Duane Forde says Morgan is a smart player & one of the best athletes available in the draft. His lack of name recognition may be due to the fact that he only played 2 games last year after being ruled academically ineligible.  His old DC from Queens (Pat Tracey) is now our ST coach so there is some familiarity there &  he seems pretty versatile (he also played RB at Queens for a bit).

  13. Well I think most of the followers were simply Asian people wanting to fit in. A whole bunch of non sports asian people that I worked with suddenly became interested in boxing and then had no clue what was going on during the fight.

    Hence the lame hugging excuses.

It was very easy to tell during the fight who actually follows boxing (and had seen Mayweather fight before) and who hadn't.  Floyd didn't do anything in that fight that he hadn't done many times before.

  14. The lawsuits will go nowhere.  They'll make lawyers richer and that's about it.  There's a good blog from a lawyer in BC about combat sports law you can read about it.

    http://combatsportslaw.com/2015/05/05/proving-fraud-in-nevada-following-mayweather-pacquiao-record-ppv-bout/

In short, based on his legal opinion, they will have a tough time winning based on the fact the plaintiffs will have to prove that they would have changed their plans if they had known about the injury (how do you prove something that didn't happen?) and that there is no law that states the fighters have to make their injuries known to anyone other than the commission.  I don't know the Nevada medical privacy laws but the NSAC may not have been able to release that info with out Pacquiao's consent, even if they were aware of it.

That being said, the lawsuits referenced in the article are in Nevada, every state has different laws so maybe they've got better luck elsewhere.
