I'm really worried that we'll lose out on Burris and his .250 winning percentage against the teams that we'll play the majority of our games against.

    Fold the franchise.

The Bombers and this new regime need to build for sustainable success.  Even with Burris, we're miles behind Saskatchewan, Calgary and BC.  Burris went 2-6 against the West last season with a better team than we'll have, 1 win each over BC and Edmonton.  There's almost no chance we get a home playoff game.  While Burris is leading our team, we gain nothing in terms of developing a QB who could possibly be our franchise QB.  QB's develop by playing in games and getting meaningful practice reps.  They don't get that when they are 2-3-4 on a depth chart, especially behind a guy like Burris.  Burris has made it pretty clear in his last two stops that he is not interested in mentoring young QB's, he's interested in being an undisputed starting QB.  So we waste a year on Burris, win 6 games (assuming things go reasonably well) and we're right back where we started at this time in 2015.  No answers at the QB position.

This is the time to toss the legitimate prospects out there and find a QB.  Our team is going to be bad anyways, and there are no expectations for this upcoming season, we should be building towards being a playoff team in the West in 2015, and a Grey Cup contender in 2016.

Must be why two teams have been so eager to replace him within the last three seasons.

That will be an adventure on gameday, and they only have 2 other defensive coaches.  Defense is coached when offence is on the field, when the head coach needs to be locked in to make decisions on short-yardage and special teams.  Hard to see how that's going to work without some part of the game being neglected.

Hamilton was a good team despite having Burris at QB.  This crap going around that Burris is still even a good starting QB because he throws for a bunch of yards (although he stats look a lot better relatively because the 3 best QB's in the league were all injured for long stretches) and took Hamilton to the Grey Cup is garbage.  Look at how much he turned the ball over, look at how the confidence in him from the coaching staff in Hamilton waned as the season went on to the point that they aren't even interested in having him back.  Yes he had a very good East Final, but a season is 18 games long.  It's as crazy as saying Buck Pierce is a great QB because he led the Bombers to the Grey Cup.  All signing Burris as a starter would do is stall QB development in Winnipeg and kill our chances of contending when we host a Grey Cup in 2015 or 2016, similar to what our dance with Buck the 4 seasons has done for us.  Signing Burris would be a massive disappointment for anyone who wants to put a team that has a chance to win a Grey Cup on the field anytime soon.

Feoli-Gudino isn't a stud special teamer.  He can catch punts, but I highly doubt he was brought here because of his special teams ability.  He's a top receiver prospect who slipped due to a bad injury and has a couple years of practicing with pros (plus his years at Laval  ).

Funny that SkyDome was built as a reaction to the terrible weather that would hit that site in the former stadium there on the lakefront, and now the Argos are possibly moving back there.

How long before that becomes an issue and problem related to attendance?

If the guys they drafted with bum knees and concussion issues return to the peak of their careers, you could have a discussion on that point.  In reality, no chance.

If this was the 2010-11 offseason we'd be complaining about having to hire a guy who is the head coach of the Grey Cup champions in 2013.  Chamblin wasn't a DC until 2011.

I'm happy to have some younger blood in our coaching ranks, and Barron Miles is a guy on the way up.

Only if you're in some kind of bizzaro world.  They have one starting quality NI in Shologan.  Almost all of their OL are damaged goods or failed prospects, a couple are still prospects.

My thought through this whole "process" as well.  If they don't take free agents, they'll have a roster full of crap.  Even if they can't get some guys signed, they can cause a whole lot of chaos and end up with some extra draft picks or neg listers by drafting pending free agents.  Also doesn't make sense to proclaim the lack of interest in free agents if true, because you just skewed everyone's protection list against you.

Personally, I feel that Stubler has been done for awhile, back to his last couple years in Toronto (07-08).  I'm not a huge fan of the avoid the deep ball but give up most of the rest of the field (including the run) approach, that's how we ended up killing Stubler's defence on route to the 07 Grey Cup game.  CFL offences have evolved (call it the Trestman Revolution), and the deep ball is the lowest percentage throw, the shorter the pass the higher the completion rate.  Offences are all about high percentage plays.  Top OC's will run the ball when they are getting 8-9 YPC.  Defences need to challenge QB's and hold gaps.  The best approach for a defence is more of a hybrid and showing a million different looks so the offence can't safely decide where the ball is going before the snap.  Nobody is having success because of this style of defence in recent CFL history, basically since Stubler and Marshall were the top DC's in the mid-00's.  The only way this defence works is if you have an offence that is going to stay on the field for long stretches.  You could see it's downfall when BC lost Lulay.  It isn't going to create turnovers or 2 and outs.  Toss in Stubler's rumoured health concerns and I'm not that enthused about this rumoured hire, unless Stubler is going to be a consultant or something.

Secondary really needs to start turning over.  The only guys I'd keep are Washington and Sears, maybe Jovon at a discount to play safety/dime.  Washington and Sears can really play anywhere, but I'd put them out at weak half and weak corner, bring in some young guys to play the wide-side of the field.

Who did Friesen want?  The available people with head coaching experience are terrible and as much as Trestman wanted to leave Chicago for Winnipeg, they are in the middle of a season.
