Why is everybody so horny for a fullback early on all of a sudden? First of all, when’s the last time a top pick was used to draft a fullback and it actually panned out? Fullbacks in the CFL don’t need to test well or be elite athletically. They need be smart. Our fullback last year was a 30 year old rookie, not a pop-off-the-charts young athlete.
Second of all, we have a perfectly capable fullback for the packages we roll out. His name is Chris Streveler.

Go figure. A terrible mock from Hodge as usual. I’d be pretty annoyed if we used 2 of our first 4 picks on special teamers. The whole thing seems real unlikely, to be honest. First round seems like a total mess.

Not seeing a person play has never stopped anyone from judging them before.
I like Gabe Wallace because he plays for Buffalo and wears 69

Need to look at the stats before making comments,, Hallet led team in st tackles. ly, clements had 6 ,and only 4 the previous yr. Ford In his rookie season had 10 st tackles.
Exume is good but was also cut by mtrl midseason
Oh so you’re one of those guys who thinks the only thing that matters on special teams is who makes the tackle. You know not every position on a cover team is “guy whose primary job is make every tackle”, right? You know there are no tackles to be made on plays where our guys are helping block for OUR returner, right?

The idea of BOLO (big, US college credentials) was much greater than the reality - 25 receptions in two seasons. I watched Jeremy Murphy a lot in RSEQ as my son plays there, and he is definitely a CFL rotational receiver. I predict he will put up better numbers, run better routes, and make tougher catches than BOLO. Not saying he'll be a star, but Murphy will be better than BOLO.
I wasn’t really talking about BOLO as a receiver. I was talking about his ST abilities, which were significantly different than the areas Murphy is going to be able to contribute.

Yup and those kick chasers haven't even looked that great at chasing kicks.
And we lost all of the key ones who did. Who is our Briggs? Or Miller? Or Exume?
We’ve got a few good ones like Cadwallader and I think Jake Kelly and both Halletts offer a lot too but our ST depth is super thin too right now as far as being proven

below are the
Projected Cdns as of this date
Starters: Olivera Demski Neufeld Kolankowski Eli Wolitarski Lawton
primary backups: Kramdl Hallet Augustine Dobson Thomas Ford Gautier Murphy Bennet
special teams Caldwader. Benson, Kelly
above account for 19 of 21 starters, 2 of which Jones and Kramdl may also become starters if needed
on the bubble: Smeckle, Beeksma, Charboneau Hallet, Macdougall
Of the 19 starters I would say we could use upgrades on Bennet, and Thomas, With 10 draft picks we are in decent shape
I guess … except if we get an injury at pretty much any position other than the defensive secondary.
Augustine is not a full time running back (although we’d go American there), Jeremy Murphy is nowhere near as proven as BOLO nor does he bring the same toolset, our DL depth is nowhere near as good as some of these other teams, our OL depth has been thinner than it’s ever been. We’ve got 7-8 starting calibre players and a bunch of kick chasers. That’s about it and that’s not good enough for a team with championship aspirations. The draft will be huge for us.

Joel Dublanko apparently getting added to the draft, he’ll go top 3 and probably not 3rd

I think year #2 is going to show last years draft class was not all that bad, eager to see what Max Charbonneau, Bret MacDougall, Jeremy Murphy and Jake Kelly bring to TC. I'll predict that 2 of those 4 eventually become impact players.
Honestly just a ridiculous expectation

I agree. We could use a couple good drafts that's for sure.
We really could. Three picks in the top 20, we need to take a big swing with one of them if you ask me. Ten picks in total. We need to come away with a good mix of everything.
Lots of good prospects with varying purposes at the top of the board. Would like to see them look WR (Mital), OL (Wallace) or even wonder if they’d take a look at a unique player like TE Tanner McLachlan to fill that blocking role or take a long term look at someone like DT Kail Dava (will drop, out long term with an injury)
TONS of options

Curious, who does everyone feel we should have selected instead of Bennett at 8th and Kelly at 15th? I'm wondering who the 'big get' that we passed on twice was this year. For the life of me I can't figure it out. Uguak seems like the early hit of 2023 and he was gone at 7. Bemiy taken at 9 might round into a better player by the time he's Bennet's age but til then he's currently statistically trailing Bennett and I don't recall him standing out in any big way. Just curious 🤔
Honestly I don’t even hate the Bennett pick because the draft class was so bad, as I said right from the start of the lead up last year.
Just the player deployment is an issue.

it's a fan blog and nothing more. Dunk has a little bit of insight, but everyone else on there is just a messageboard poster posing as "media". We absolutely have better insight (and likely better writers) on MBB...
3DN is super credible as far as reporting news. Dunk and Hodge are both very well connected throughout the league, just look at how many signings they leaked prior to official announcements. They don’t miss on that front at all and it’s unfair to say they do.
The problem with them is the exact opposite of what you’re suggesting it is. When they get into actual analysis, it’s worse than your typical tan forum commentary. Hodge, JC Abbott, that guy who was on Big Brother from Calgary … they’re all lost when it actually comes to discussing football.
if they just stick to the news they’d be fine and that’s coming from someone who really doesn’t like any of them on any level. They all suck. But they’re definitely well connected within the league - although I’ll definitely suggest it’s because SOMEBODY has to be and they do it by default for all the team executives and player agents

I'm not talking experienced depth. I'm talking anything to show from the past two drafts. It's a total departure from how they've steadily built the OL during this entire regime going on a decade having depth ready to play when they've needed it.
In fairness the last two drafts have been abysmal for OL

Is this an actual story or an analogy?
That’s THE story that GCn20 is using to refer to Chad Kelly as a sexual predator.
He got charged with trespassing (the house was unlocked) and wandered drunkenly into someone’s home, was comfortable enough to sit next to them on the couch and start mumbling to them while dressed as Woody from Toy Story (aka he was probably so smashed he thought he was at the right house and thought he was talking to someone he knew) and then got confrontational with the husband when he chased him off with either a bat or a pipe, I forget (because he’s a moron and he probably couldn’t understand why anyone had a problem with the mixup)
Idiot? Absolutely. Sexual predator? Based off that story? Reach.

That's your opinion. Committing a felony trespass, then cozying up next to a sleeping woman and child, then uttering threats at her and her room mate on the way out....yea,,,,that doesn't scream weirdo at all. Ms. South Carolina would probably fill you in on a thing or two about him as well.
Except that’s not really what happened.
Let’s just take the names and legal terms out of the story.
”Man wearing Toy Story costume drunkenly wanders into unlocked home, sits down on couch, mumbles at woman nursing her young child, gets confronted by father and is chased off the property”
What part of that screams sex pest to you?
Not to mention the part where they sued him and none of what they were asking for was due to any psychological trauma of any kind. Even the victims of this crime aren’t accusing him of what you are. Is he a complete idiot? Hell yeah. Was this a sexual crime in any way whatsoever? Absolutely not.

What's the point being made here?
Mostly just that everyone is already proclaiming this guy is guilty because he’s got a reputation and if it were a Bomber, there would be cries of “let the process play out”
I wonder if anyone ever stopped to wonder if the reason this became public is because he has this reputation and the woman knew this would be effective.
Disclaimer: if he’s guilty of the claims, he’s a total piece of crap
I just see the double standard here for what it is and someone’s right to due process shouldn't depend on what team colours they wear

Muamba always chased a paycheque rather than a championship. He'd rather play for a winless team as long as they paid the most. He could have gone down as one of the greats. Money rather than championships was his priority.

Sure, I’ll put together a mock when it makes sense. Since I know I’m who you’re asking about.
Remember the mock drafts I shot down last year? And how I told you it was a bad draft year? I do. But in case you don’t …
https://3downnation.com/2023/03/09/john-hodges-2023-cfl-mock-draft-1-0/
First overall pick went 16, nailed it. Our first pick at 8 went 20th, nailed it. 10 and 11 (as OL, nonetheless) went 48th and 57th and their situations didn’t change at all. I’m not criticizing his mock draft because he’s a bit off. I criticize it because it’s never even close, because he has no clue.
