Down the stretch, the DL just wore out - starters without rotation players or backups.  We saw the same nonsense in the Ottawa game.  Some of these roster decisions are puzzling........ 
Other than Castillo, the special teams are just a hot mess...... no kick return or coverage game........simply bleeding field position on virtually every exchange.  That adds up over the course of a game.
On offense, things look somewhat out of whack....... we have almost abandoned the intermediate passing game...... now its Oliveria running or just slinging it long downfield.  Play calling is also at times, somewhat erratic. 
ZC?  Well, he had 5 completions in the first 3 quarters.  Really?
Put this stuff together.....and you get a winnable game blown.     Yeah we are 9-3, but the expectation, these days, is a lot higher.....than in the good ole days.    Which is fine with me.

O'Shea just nailed his flawed mentality in his post game interview....when asked question about why slow starts...replied didn't know...but the kicker was this "only start to worry about something if you lose"
That right there explains so many things and poor decisions...and it will get to points where it really snowballs or really bites you.
His mindset it seems that wins gloss over deficiency...not a good thing

We'd have lost that challenge as the ball hit the ground before Schoen secured it. I saw a facemask on Oliveira late in the game that was missed & O'Shea never challenged it as it looked blatant. Oliveira turned his head as he was running when the Rider player grabbed his mask.

I'm surprised that they don't have more people working in the booth with the camera angles in which they can call down for flags to be thrown.   I know time is extremely short to make decisions but I do notice several times a game where this could of helped make a big impact on the outcome. 

It's the same refs.  That's where the CFL refs come from.
In the past two seasons they've fast tracked a bunch of refs.  I see guys/women who were working WHSFL games I was coaching last year working the lines in the CFL.  Many of these people haven't even officiated football for 5 years at any level.
They weren't good amateur refs.  One particular rookie official I see in the CFL this year could never understand that we had 7 guys on the line if the guy covering the tackle on his side of the field wasn't a wideout, if we used a tight end or had a bunch formation he'd constantly **** it up and call us for No End....even when the guy on the line CHECKED IN WITH HIM!  I see a lot of missed offsides, early movement in the CFL this year.  That's where they have stationed the rookie refs, side judge, line judge.  They've kept the vet officials at back judge, head linesman, umpire.
There's a massive shortage of officials.
One thing they really need to do is clarify the role of the replay official.  If they want to review every play and buzz down if necessary, do that.  But why are there some plays where they are buzzing down with a flag to throw and then nothing on other plays with obvious offsides for example?

Anyone have an ideas on how to improve reffing?
it is approaching dreadful.
I have watched a few Canadian college games, reffing seemed better than what the CFL has right now.
It has been getting worse, yet no indication that I have seen that the league can or will do something. or even thinks there is a problem.
when players have to take a chance on making a remark, things are bad.
the review booth seems to be wonky. 
and Do these  refs ever face some consequence for messing things up?  do they ever have to explain or sdmit an error?
I also think the idea that refs cant be publicly criticised is absurd. every other person in every job, in this world can be criticized. but not refs. stupid.

Through 1 quarter and not a word from Dustin and Suitor about the beat down on BC. After the bomb by Kelly would have been the ideal time to toss in, "If you like long bombs you would have loved the Bombers/BC game last night"...but, nope.
If BC had laid the hurt on us they wouldn't have shut up about it tonight

I don't care for the mandatory bye-week for all teams. The CFL can't afford to lose momentum and taking a week off in the middle of the season would do just that. 

May long is when we would open our pool and plant our garden.  Significantly warmer then November.     
 

Not if you are used to wearing a bikini in Winnipeg's February heat waves... but seriously the 3rd and 4th week of May in no way compares to November cold; some people start planting their gardens on the May long weekend
