Yeah the narrative has changed in the last 2 yrs tho...people and organizations are overly sensitive now...I think he is done...the backlash may be too much in this day

  3. Riders barely won with the LOLks in their usual form. MBT was a hot mess which was fun to watch. The crowing and strutting coming from The Gap over the next couple weeks will be hilarious... Evergreen post that could be from 2019 or today ...

  5. lol. Streaming is the future. It’s pre season. The bombers only draw like half their normal sell out also. We will have less than 20k at our pre season game. Guaranteed. Announced more but in the stadium will be way less. It’s just pre season.

  6. I'd just go with clock stops after each whistle...restarts at the snap....but 20 second clock stays in effect

Wow, thanks for these reminders. Good grief. Every time he touched the puck, nervousness set in.

  11. They would still be quarters. Each one is still 25% (one quarter) of the overall time, regardless if that's an hour or 40 minutes.

  12. I think they could also change time keeping like Booch is saying to accomplish a better pre season. If instead of 2-3 quarters they play the second half with only injury stops of the time and a few other tweaks you could half the time the second half takes. And that’s always the worst quality football. It’d be a bit on the wild side, but they could play a half of regular football then do an ot shoot out, or you could play a quarter then an ot then a quarter. 2 fast games and a full pad / contact half game scrimmage would be good imo.

  13. Also Calgary is an embarrassment to the league. Both the city and the team itself. It's no wonder they can't draw flies with that medieval dungeon they call a stadium...

  15. So...status quo on the deep shots...how we lost to that turd I can't comprehend See the Elks have continued that knack to just handing a team chances to win over and over...

  16. Go 6 10 minute I suppose it wouldn’t be quarters anymore tho in pre season. 6 10 minute periods? couldn’t be called quarters since 15 minutes is a quarter of an hour so yeah that’s no good English. intersquad would be cool maybe for the first week. Maybe riders practice here also for a week right cuz logistics wouldn’t work for intersquad games. Toronto Hamilton could pull it off tho. Montreal Ottawa could. The rest of us gotta fly. perhaps have a team of fans play. Or the bisons. But then there’s other issues there.

  17. what year was that? In 1992-93 the Jets had 4 rookies that scored 20 goals - Davydov, Tkachuk, Selanne and Zhamnov. They had two vets who also scored more than 20 - Steen and Darrin Shannon. At that time Winnipeg set the record for having 4 rookies hit 20 goals or more in the same season. 22. Stokes was on grants level in terms of explosive gains, but no where near his consistent ability to gain yards, especially the tough hard yards. Stokes was a much better offensive player though. 2500 rec yards 10 TDS.

  23. Both...their projected online was very Swiss cheese as usual too

  24. Yeah i'd say Stokes was Grant level, but we havent had many other great ones over the years.

  26. Don't think it's an issue. There's been over 50 cuts and replacements across the league since they started camps. They are paying costs to bring guys here, send them home, bring in next guy. Bring them all in for a week ahead of main camp.

  27. I think Derek is a great guy and a huge CFL fan, and is probably going to be on TSN doing national games before long..... but I'm not sure he's really even a Bombers fan, per se. He calls a good game and is a huge CFL fan.... By far the least "homer" of all regional PBP guys. Doug is the perfect regional colour guy. He's clearly a HUGE Bombers fan and passionate alumnus.... But he's not a moron on the air like Mullinder.

  28. This is why I miss 4 pre season games. Vets & rooks would see more reps in practice & games.

  30. I think Barriere is in the mushy middle with like 100 other QB's who come out every year or so. Yeah he has some highlights. He played for a school that is a powerhouse. But they had some pretty bad playoff losses when they played actual competition in his time. They run a spread with a lot of RPO stuff...so he's reading off a playaction and then it's one read BOOM pass out to a screen or a flat or a slant. Not a whole lot of hit this window from the pocket or throw through zones. Doesn't look like he has the arm to play at this level IMO. Could you build an offense around him? Probably not, he's gotta be able to beat people by making tough throws in that 10-20 yard area. That's how you win in this league. NFL now too. So we see these guys who run the spread stuff or some gunslinger types with big arms (Dolegala is a recent example) come in and really struggle to be consistent because they can't make those throws accurately and on time.

  32. I have the Jets book "Coming up Short" by Curtis Walker and he seems to intimate (unless my memory is failing me) that Smith deliberately talked Fergie into trading Babych to the Whalers for Ray Neufeld to sewer Fergie and take his job. Also, among other things Smith did to destroy the Jets: Smith was largely responsible for forcing Dale Hawerchuk, the Jets franchise player, out of Winnipeg. Years later, Hawerchuk would state "In my era there were two Winnipegs. There was the John Ferguson era, which was positive, upbeat, a really community-driven team. And then the Mike Smith era, which was negative and pessimistic. That ran through the media. I thought I'd be a Winnipeg Jet forever, but at the end Mike pretty much made it impossible for me to really push forward with my career there."[11] Smith made some questionable trades that would come back to haunt the Jets. During the Summer of 1993, Smith would send future Olympian, and Frank J. Selke Trophy winner Kris Draper to the Detroit Red Wings for $1.00.[12] Smith would also trade NHL All-Star Phil Housley to the St. Louis Blues for Nelson Emerson and Stephane Quintal. On November 25, 1993, Smith would trade star forward Stu Barnes along with a sixth round selection (previously acquired from the St. Louis Blues; Chris Kibermanis) in 1994 to the Florida Panthers for Randy Gilhen. Mike Smith was mainly responsible for dismantling a young, and promising Winnipeg Jets team. By the time Smith was relieved of his Managing duties in January 1994, the Jets were last in the Western Conference.[13] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Smith_(ice_hockey,_born_1945)

  33. I think they should expand the rookie camp to 7-10 days and expand the roster size by 20 for that. Have a significant cut down when vets report and then have a cut down between the two exhibition games.
