So long as Collaros is drawing breath, O'Shea will start him. Should the Bombers win, it will be in spite of the coaching, not because of it. So far as Dru Brown is concerned, his previous starts were with a terrible center and left tackle, a patchwork of mostly crappy receivers and the aforementioned clueless offensive coordinator. I am not saying Bombers have much of a chance on Saturday, but I think with Brown there is a chance, albeit small.

O'Shea will put Brown in.... mid way through the 4th quarter after the game is already settled. That's my prediction.

Did Brown even get a game with a Center who can snap the ball right on the money to allow him to easily see what's in front of him consistenalty?

ZC 2 games with Eli and what is now our full complement of WR who for most part can make a bit of a difference....tho we still starting Neild...who should be backing up were his better passing performances of the yr, and he looked halfway like vintage ZC...tho last game he was horrible....But Brown looked like an all-star with this group and a real center, and under big pressure to win too....or we were done

Any smart coach will set his BS personal opinions/beliefs aside and roll Brown out until T.O solves him, or stymies him...if they do at all.

A also have rewatched most the last 3 games and Eli has been more than fine...His pass blocking has not been an issue...communication between him and the guards have been wayyyy better and the snaps all been money...For the most part the leakage has been from the edge or due to a team overloading things....And yeah sure some people will cherry pick this play...or that play...that's a given...and also that happens...no lineman wins every battle...but thje over all body of work has been best center play here since Couture got hurt.

the last 3 games we have averaged 31.3 points a game, have actually for most part save for the typical TC effect have looked like a legit offence, But that also is because we realized our best receiver was on PR all yr, so that helped as well...Its not a fluke that those 2 changes made a world of difference.

Honestly? I can’t even see him doing that…. Unless it’s because of injury.

Wasn't going to happen if Zach didn't get hurt. TBH, if Dru didn't come out playing like his hair was on fire, I think Zach would've gone back in.

Mos does have a tipping point, though. We've seen it with Kola and Elsbury. Most notably, we saw it back in the day with Nichols passing Willy. It came then, when we created a better chance to win games with the change. It is possible that Mos is at that point with Brown. He gave Brown and the offence more rope than you'd normally see previously this year. Dru Brown single-handedly propelled us into the playoffs. I don't think that is lost on Mos. Everything that would be going on right now would be unsightly if Dru had not come up with the heroic effort.

That said I think Dru has been better off the bench for us this year, aside from 1 decent game plan outing. If we put together a great install for Dru, we will be in a really good position. If we don't, it'll be a struggle.

I detailed Dru's splits previously on getting sacked 2 times or less vs. 3 or more. It was extreme. Not just here, either. If we play around protecting Dru, establishing the run, and getting the ball out of his hands quickly, we have a very good chance. The chances of that happening concern me, though.

Personally, I'd roster Vanterpool and use him in a heavy set a lot. I would keep Brady in the backfield the whole game as well, and let him be the leak-out pressure release. Work a lot of timing routes, rubs, and play action. If pressure starts getting through, have a roll-out package ready. Maybe use the old streveler package with Perkins too.

One of the big factors will be the Canadians on O. We have some real talent and size mismatches. But we haven't used them worth a damn. If we are going to win, we will have to put the Canadian back in CFL when it comes to our Offence.

Tommy Nield didn't have a single target last week. Hasn't had 50 or more yards since week 13, and only passed 50 yards twice since the 3rd week of the year.

Clercius hasn't had a target in 4 weeks.

Mci has had 2-3 decent plays called back by penalty; otherwise, hasn't recorded a touch on offence since week 8. Same guy who busted a 63-yarder last year. He's been excellent on teams too. Two surprisingly good returns on short kicks, great on cover teams, tremendous blocking.

10 times this year, Brady has carried the ball 14 times or more. 8 of those games, he put up over 100 yards. We won 6 of those games, and utterly pissed wins away in 2 more. He hasn't carried the ball 20 times in a game all year. He hit 19, 18, and 17 once each.

yeah its all about how we use our assets...or more specifically how we haven't been. Like you said MCI has been a demon on teams, and when he has had some touches he has been good....We really need to learn how to utilize him....Why we dont run sets with both him and BO starting out in the backfield and pull Neild of is baffling...And same with why do we not utilize Clercius in situations where a big bodied physical receiver would benefit...He has shown since he has been here he catches the ball...And doesnt go down by just coughing at him...another talent we just been stagnating.

If we actually draw up a game plan for Dru with a good mix of in the pocket and roll out/sprints to move him around he seems to excell...always has...construct based on talent and skill set....we seem to lack that aspect in our coaching..we go in with ideas and wont...or just cant deviate

Another thing I forgot to mention earlier in regards to players...and their work/ability....That kick coverage of ours after the Singer TD....Shay...the way he was able to stretch out the returner across the field and keep him in his sights the whole while not allowing him to get any yards and basically boxed him to thesidelines while the calvary showed up...Thing of beauty and how as a coach you would draw that up, or use a filmwork example to relay what you should do...Dude obviously has sideline to sideline playmaking ability....athleticism and has size....dude needs opportunities, but isnt given any and thats a shame

Yeah, that Shay contain was insane. The wheels to cut in and cross the field, maintaining the angle like that, just doesn't happen in the CFL. Imagine if we sent him off the edge instead of a DB into an OL.

There are several on this forum, of which I am not one, who know their football Xs and Os. (See a couple of posts just above.) It's unfortunate that none of the Bombers' tall foreheads read these posts. They could use the advice......seriously.

Yup..just seeing that play alone..and how he maintained perfect position at speed told me a lot. Dude needs to get reps

In all honesty he would prob be more productive coming in for Kelly's role than what kelly offers

Yeah, we got so many guys who float around zones and wait for the play to come to them, or watch it pass them by. We need those guys with a relentless motor and the athleticism to rally to the ball. We used to build around that, but we've gotten away from it.

Reese too. We drop him on the blitz packs more and more, and he is not out of place at all picking up backs and such in the flats. He might be better at Mack/Jack than DE.

Fletcher too; he's had some real brain cramp moments, especially early, but he's been our only consistent pass-rushing in the back half of the season. He really needs more reps on the edge, twisting, and as a 3t next to a 0. Usually, rookies hit the wall at the half to 2/3s mark; his motor has only gotten better.

Aside from 1 game from WJ, our DL struggled a lot vs. the Argos OL. Chad Kelly loves to take risks and toss picks, so pressure is always great on him. Plus he reacts poorly to being hit.

That said, in the past 5 games (since Randolph has been back starting at RT), they have given up a lot less sacks and pressures. That's despite starting 3 different qbs in that time.

Yeah was gonna mention reese dropping off in some blitz packages.. he read and closed in to finish that one screen play for no gain perfectly. Id love to see us use him in that jack role..dude is also athletic as heck and has a motor

I always been high on fletcher since camp..and yeah he had some first yr guy issues but he has also made plays and has been solid and getting better..we fit him in a role to best use him he gonna be pretty damned good ..he also quietly got 6 sacks and lotsa pressures..issue with us is we dont use guys effectively..or know how too...heck I dont think we even know what guys should be used at times

A view through opposition goggles:

Part of what has made switching to Dru from Zach either mid game or from one week to the next is how they are polar opposites in playing vertical or not. Their Average Depth of Target sit at inverse ends of the QB spectrum with Collaros being an aggressive deep-ball gunslinger who works off of play action, whereas Dru Brown is short to intermediate and higher tempo. If you imagine you are the Argos and you're getting ready for Collaros' style and trying to take away his deep game only to end up facing Brown, you can see why Brown would have a production bump against that defence.

We got switched up on by the Bombers both times we played them (in Bomber Home games, I might add). In week 5 Elgersma filled in for Zach (who got 6 gamed). So when you went out and obtained Brown, we didn't have much to go on in setting up against him. His timing and tempo were precisely what the Argos weren't set up for and Brown took what we were giving him for free and laughed his way to a big win. Imagine you're a defensive back who was preparing to spend the day dropping deep only to have hitches, slants and everything else happen 5 yards in front of you. Or you're a D-Lineman expecting to turn up the heat on Zach only to find that Brown has made a completion by the time you've taken your third stride.

Then after Collaros got subbed by Brown in week 15, you had a bye so we didn't know who or what we were getting in week 17. We clearly prepared for Collaros as evidenced by the early surge of the Bomber offence. But this time we had a book on Brown and flipped the script at halftime. Our safety started coming shallow into Browns patterns and it paid dividends with two 2nd half picks (including the one to ice the game when Winnipeg was threatening a game winning FG). And I'm not trying to pick a fight with Booch here, but I just don't see Brown as a roll-out/sprint guy. To me, he is all about his clock, his "schedule", and getting rid of the ball ASAP, and if you can mess with that he gets nervy and bad things happen. Note: I feel this leaves us vulnerable to rushing yards as the safety being brought in to contest short/intermediate passes opens running lanes.

It seems fairly certain that we get Brown this weekend. We see him coming this time and my inner defensive coordinator feels better this time than for the previous two times.

12 degrees, no rain. Good luck youse guys. I'm waiting for the lines to open, but I'm taking Coxie for the "over" on whatever yards and catches they offer. Also taking him as a "to score anytime" bet.

In summary, Argos suck.

I’ll now let the adults in the room talk football.

sure...but Brown hit more deep shots than Collaros and his average depth per was 16 yards. he went 11/11 for 185 yards. He wasn't throwing quick slants.

sure... but that was in one single game as a data point when the Bombers needed a win and the Lions didn't. I can't really look at that game and think that it means that Dru Brown is now something that he never has been before.

Pretty good assessment...I agree Brown gets it out fast...is way better at touch and timing...even on the simplest of plays such as a screen or dump off where ZC literally sucks...and that for sure had your guys wires crossed both times...you were able to adapt in the second tilt. But as shown all yr...2 yrs really, and we cant adjust or adapt to save our butts...what we install it seems is embedded in concrete and you guys were able to take over

Brown isnt a pocket guy, and I believe he functions way better on moving him around especially when we use some play action with it to actually augment his intermediate/timing game...From his first tour here, and then again this yr, he has had a lot of success doing it. And with a WR now in Singer who knows how to position himself to win contested balls...also how to angle his patterns to make it easier to throw him open I can see (hopefully) more success there....BUT...and this a BIG but it all hinges on Dumb Dumb...I mean Condell to script a plan to mix in both...And if he smart incorporate BO early and often with some RPO type play action stuff to keep the defence off balance and cant just cheat one way or another

I guess too the other Dumb Dumb in the HC hopefully has seen things...knows whats kinda going on and has had input/participation in creating the proper scheme or at the very least, said something in regards to this...something..anything...But that's where all my doubt is sitting....a first round early exit/flop again from being out coached and outclassed....yet again

Rib injury? No sweat- it only hurts when you breathe, so he should be good to go. Seriously, now O'Shea has a ready-made excuse for losing on Saturday. His star QB was unavailable and if he were, the Bombers would have romped to victory after victory all the way to winning the Cup.

WOW. $5.5M over 5 year deal. $750K signing bonus for 2027. I wonder if that comes out of the 2027 SMS or what's left of the SMS from 2026. Either way that suggests the SMS is going up by a significant amount. However that's nearly $400K more than he got in 2026. Are they risking fines for going over if they are guessing wrong?

Today's IR report is the usual useless info for the most part. Many starters listed as DNP again. The only things that might be informative were Collaros not practising ( surprise, surprise ) and that Ayers is back to " full".

So again, I don't know if Collaros can play or whether that decision is taken out of our hands. If he does play, then he's one stiff breeze from being knocked out of the game.

I know Brown looked good for the last Q of the game against the Lions. How that translates to starting against the Argos, I'm not sure. It may depend more on Brady having a very good game and the defence learning to cover receivers. Argos fall into an all or nothing kind of offence, so no lead would be safe.

Anyone use the other site and know when it will be up again? It's been down for 4+ days now.

In Brown's big game against BC, someone (Duane Forde?) made the point that the Lions D was not just inexperienced, it was also undermanned because there were a number of starters who were dressed but who weren't taking reps due to the small roster size in the CFL. And as the Lions' D wore down, Brown exploded on em.

Normally I'm not the guy who says "we didn't win, they actually sucked" but in this case it sure looked like the Lions were visibly tired on Brady's long TD.

Anyway, go blue. No one wins a Grey Cup from the crossover spot .. but I'll take sending Pesty McMillions to a disappointingly early offseason as a consolation prize.

I think it’s both us and them. The deep shots, certainly their poor young secondary with no back ups. The quick timing routes and perfectly placed passes, good on us.

No one has that much help off the bench in the secondary in the cfl. most teams are lucky to have 2 guys on the bench who can cover 1on1.

Also, secondary is a position where you get thrown to the fire. It’s never a surprise when a rookie db has a strong season, it happens a couple times every year.

In general, db is easier to play well than in high d1 or the nfl. And expectations are lower, because qbs put up 70% completion percentage on average.
