That is just not a good take, at all.

I'll add a diverse run game! Running Brady in the A gap all day long out of the same formation won't do it.

This team is just not that good. Their record flatters them. They are as bad as Ottawa.

One helluva disappointment last night ....particularly the pics Dru chucked up and the bloody play calling...IF that sort of crap continues we're going to be on the outside looking in come playoff time...Abysmal secondary work ....tackling, positioning and overall poor play calling...I don't know how the hell a receiver can be 20 yds off the db coverage and laughing all the way to the end zone ...Also did some of these guys forget how to tackle....time for them to go back to tackling 101 for a refresher course...pathetic....Even the special teams guys were off their game, coverage which is a decent part of our game was sloppy ..We were out of this game from the start and a good indication was the opening march downfield with little to no opposition....Coaching has to be addressed ....Hopefully something can be improved before the BC game or we could drop the next home game

The D didn't make more mistakes than Calgary's D. But the level of performance and compete from the secondary in particular is completely unacceptable.

The Nichols bust on the TD pass to McAllister in 2 high coverage is one of the worst football plays I've seen in my entire life at any level. Like does he seriously think when he's the high man in that coverage looking down at the routes where we have 3-4 other guys sitting on them that there maybe isn't a reason why he should look again to turn his hips and make sure there actually isn't a deep route coming at him? It wasn't even really disguised. McAllister came out of the backfield and just ran right up the seam. 2 high....you're high, you've got to be on top of the deepest route on your half of the field.

He's not reading the QB/ball, he's not playing his zone, he's reading an area where we have 4 other guys covering 2 Calgary players.

Remarkably poor play by a veteran player.

My opinion of this D almost halfway through this season is that we don't have the players to execute the scheme in the secondary. So a good coach would drastically simplify to put a competitive secondary on the field. I think it's beyond making one personnel change. Either way Moxey needs to go. Guy just doesn't show any willingness play in and play out to compete.

Like CGY last yr...basically revamped the whole defensive unit...and ran a basic 4 set defence and just did minor things of that for the most part in first half of of the season

I bolded part of your comment as in reference to that...I seriously doubt we have a good coach...let alone several right now....One other point I forgot...we added a DA DB...One with physical tools to actually maybe do something in this useless scheme and constant rotation we run. And on a few 2nd and longish...we subbed out a DL guy or LB...and instead of actually using/trying him...we run out Ball to play basically whatKramdi or Kelly did....when we didnt need to...like wtf?!?!...why even dresss the guy...and before anyone chirps I could care less about that UR penalty on the kick return...lesson learned but at least he hustled as he trackced the ball carrier good and sifted thru the sea of bodies to run him outta bounds...and really he hardly hammered the guy...at least he showed hustle

Same with our interior rotation...why do we feel the need to minimize Ceresna's snaps for a couple of slugs...Schmeck made a good play but thats his bread and butter and situationally where we need him...not as a snap eating DT...he just not that kind of layer...Korn just isnt even a pro level player

did I not say multiple times this yr our secondary is bad for most part...chalk full of undersized whimps who cant tackle...cant lay the boom....just a bunch of pansies really...excluding Griffin and Williams...and last night was a prime example of it...if you go back and look at all games this year...and last...you see a whole lotta what we saw...and the fact Osh doesnt hold anyone accountable...or even yank a repeated offender for that is just an indication he's not this god many make him out to be...he's clueless...gutless...plumless...or just stupid....I think a swell combo of all of them...He excels at looking smug and getting worked up tho when challenged about it

That opening drive of the second half was about as pathetic and embarrasing of a play I have ever seen...Obviously zero was said, and nobody was read the riot act to sharpen up or take a place on the bench cause that shouldnt have happened...unless we have a group of dumbasses playing in the secondary....or ones severley lacking in skill...take your pick...but after that a real coach woulda yanked a few immediately...Murphy would of 100 percent and likely cut one...or 2 or sent to PR right after game...Coach Richie as well would have sat at least one guy....but he would have had some strong words and on the sidelines and tore a strip off them about it, I can say that with 100 percent belief...seen it first hand...and likely the culprits woulda got the message...Osh...ho hum...look at me sheet...squint and look up at the replay...write don on his sheet "review that in film and fix"...when it is about as obvious as a wart on your junk what happened right there and now....just an utter fool

Hate to harp on stuff and be so critical..but cmon man...is stuff we hashed over here now for several seasons...was some the red flags I saw from day 1 of camp...and tendancies we have seen adnuasim for yrs now...not new stuff I just drum up as I have a hate on for this coach...that coach...a certain player...Its jut reality...hate to again say "I told you so"...but getting close...and stand on my hill we should have let osh walk this winter...He's our nemessis

I think Ceresna is physically cooked. That's why Edmonton let him walk. He's sucking wind basically the entire game. But the 5-6 plays when he does twitch off the snap he can still make some big plays. Very inconsistent and not a guy teams are afraid of running at. Bad combo inside with Fletcher who doesn't seem to get gap responsibility, just chases play and leaves huge lanes for cutback which is what zone scheme is after on O.

I agree that I fail to see the point of using all our DA's on D/special teams but then really not using them....especially when our O is so bad.

If we want to play so many Canadians on D, shift the ratio to get some guys on O.

We're running so much empty with 6 receivers but of those 6 we have Brady and Daniels out there for a lot of it so really 4 receives. Brady has utility in the pass game but it's not running 8 yard hooks at the field wideout spot. That's just a guy the D doesn't need to worry about once he gets out there.

On Ball, he's a huge special teamer. Real good at being first guy down and forcing returns to sideline into our tacklers. He's an asset we've been missing since Kelly is playing more D.

Am I wrong or does Daniels only have about one route that he can run?

yeah several of BO's "routes" were just take 3 strides and do an out...like thats effective

Ball is good on teams....shouldnt be on defence first tho for the extra guy...put a legit import db/safety out there that will make a difference...let alone a play

Agreed, for the most part, but Walters has overseen this deterioration for 2 or 3 years now without intervening. Why he cannot see what the majority here in this forum have seen is beyond me. Whether he could not see it or chose not to intervene amounts to the same dereliction of duty and his continued presence is a major detriment. The unanswered question is who replaces O'Shea and/or Walters.

I mean like I told you guys off the highlights from camp scrimmages they were putting out, the Rifles LB in camp was making up 10 yards on him when the ball is in the air. He's not beating anyone on a route in this league. You're hoping the D doesn't count him in coverage or is so fixated on a play fake they forget about him on a flat route.

1 hour ago, rebusrankin said:

you are correct, that is what you get with a guy who can’t run and aren’t a wr. Corcoran can run many routes, he can’t get open, but he can run them. Daniel’s may as well do the cha cha slide

We bring in tons of guys...but just keep the same guy's as in previous yrs..and also who knows if some guys we brought in would have been better...cause we never try.. so can't say its a failure on scouting...plus we seem to have this like of smaller..weaker dbs for whatever reason..and the not trying guys goes for all positions here

In all honesty who here didnt think that when camp broke that Wilson..Jones..Kramdi..Nichols..Bryant..Jenkins...One of Cobb or Corcoran..Korn..Punter..Kicker..would be starting regardless of what transpired in camp? It was a given and if Walters hadnt chopped Osh off at the knees in regards to Thomas hed been wasting a roster spot and gobbling up snaps

At least someone had the sense to put Reese in over Jenkins as he was a camp standout...and really that Clinton..or McKlinton?? Can't recall name shouda been kept too somehow..but wasn't.. we went with old and worn out

Amazingly they finally realized Griffin was one the better sams not just here...but league so they put him there..but that defaulted Kramdi to a already decided safety role..even tho not the best option on our roster..

Yeah I saw zero in camp to justify making roster..but there he is

Run them like in mud..and then have pretty much zero yac ability...teams leave him free as they know by time he secures ball and looks to make a football move they can make up the 10..15 yards of cushion and make a play on him for a short gain

And really for either of them id rather see peterson on..at least he has skills and MCI..Clercius..Eli can handle the te role

Pro sport training camps are not competitive. The Bombers aren't unique in this.

Guys have to show solid habits and make the most of any opportunity they get.

NFL runs long ass off-season camps and it's basically non-competitive for the veteran players. Guys who aren't high picks are battling to get the last couple spots on the 53 or PR spots, just like up here, be on the list of injury replacements.

NHL is basically doing away with pre-season completely. Show up for a few weeks, skate as a team, start playing real games.

Way bigger concern is the personnel we are finding, choosing to bring up, keeping and how monstrously useless a lot of them end up being. Like I get the attraction to having a vet at field corner like Moxey, but how many games of him just completely bailing on any thought of competing in a football game as a defender do we need to see before we say goodbye?

We've had a long list of receivers who we've kept around full seasons, multiple seasons, who do absolutely nothing when they get a shot. Or guys that are just horrendous fits for the schemes we're trying to run.

DL too.

Like Fletcher is trending that way to me as an American. He's had about 2 hurries in 7 games, hit a QB twice, get's gapped out like crazy vs the run to the point we're basically not using him as 3 tec on 1st and 10 anymore. We don't use him on the edge, ever. Why are we making adjustments to our scheme or downgrading what we're able to do for guys who bring nothing to the table? Bring in a different player.

Jamal Parker was here for like 4 years. Always going to be the next one. Gets some extended run on the field, not even an average CFL player at any spot. But we love these guys we think can play 3-4 spots, but can't play any 1 of them in a (positive) impactful way for the team.

Thing is tho...in a camp you can and still should be able to assess God given talent..and obviously ability...and yes some certain intangibles...I have my doubts we have the ability to do so. And some the intangibles we covet or look for..dont translate on the field..and I think our coaching staff passes this on to our scouts and effects who..what we bring in..this regime is now flawed on many levels

Save for a few random finds..Schoen..Alford..early Nichols..Wilson originally..most our successful guys were know imports brought in via fa

I was one of those, but I hold to my opinion. Collaros is too expensive to be a bench warmer, too brittle to play, and arguably worse than Brown.

The money is already allocated to th QB position. Whether they play Collaros or Brown doesn't matter. They make salary cap allocations in the off season. I'm not worried about Brown. he'll bounce back. I'm worried about this coaching & management staff we have. How disastrous it was to bring EVERY DECISION MAKER back.

Never mind the passes thrown BEHIND his receivers. Seems to me we have significant communication issues throughout the team.

Nah. We running the 2025 red blacks O but without a receiver over 6 3.

Totally agree with your comments. 3 guys can't make a tackle?? There were many times during the game DB's seemed to not know where they should be pre-snap. Ceresna playing limited reps, is he hurt?. Why is our star RB getting limited reps? I'm having flash-backs to last year.

Ceresna is definitely hurt... He's been on the daily injury list for awhile but seems to be playing through it.

Add Vaval to that list, the only great find from the states in the last 3-4 years.

Major Williams may get there.

Agree the talent brought in by the scouting dept has been way sub-par since Rigmaiden left.

Even before that at WR. 12 years they’ve found 1 good receiver outside of FA. 2 if you count Lawler who was a relatively unknown BC cut.

The coaches weren't to blame for this loss at all. This was 100% on the players

explain.... because I disagree on some levels of this. Yes there was a lack of execution by some players for sure however there's lots of things we CAN point to the coaches needing to do better as well, including putting players, and the team in a position to succeed.

Here's one glaringly obvious example of a coaching decision we can criticize..... why the **** are we trying a 58 yard field goal at that point in the game? That wound up being 7 points for Calgary and a bunch of momentum when we actually have a punter that can pin a team deep and who knows from there.

We lost because our players made errors in judgement, committed turnovers and were not assignment sound and then there is the glaringly obvious that we do not have the talent.

We sit here hyperfocused on minutae instead of talking about the obvious,, this team does not have the horses and it isn't because we didnt evaluate talent properly, it's because none has walked thru the door.

We can get into consequences but that isn't why we got smoked. The game was there for the taking and we continually handed it right back to Calgary

I think you have this amazing ability to gloss over everything a coach can do to put players in positions to succeed and prepare them.

I mean the defense gave the team a ton of chances with the ball late but they didn't take advantage of it for a lot of reasons including some coaching ones. Like for example Stanley Bryant has been embarrassing himself every game this seasons. Coaches needed to convince him to hang them or or even cut him in camp if he didn't get the message. Coaches should be building an offense around Brady not making him play receiver and then throw 40 times a game.

And id say piss poor coaching..planning..whatever u call it leading up to the game...and who chose the lineup..coaches...who didn't yank..bench..friggin cut on the spot some of the weak assed players who were embarrassing the team.. not just themselves? Ahh yes...our coaches...sure some players carry huge blame..but at end of the day..our coaches chose them...had them basically unprepared to succeed...or execute...and couldn't find it in themselves to adjust anything..or bench anyone...ive said before..and will again...or coaching or lack there of is..and has been killing us..full stop...it can't be disputed

Our...were provided with a shitty assignment..game plan...were not properly prepared...were not yanked for und underperforming..on and on..game after game

Maybe some of the drops would disappear..some the tackles would be made...some the assignment responsibility would be corrected if we didnt take extra days off practiced...there's a thought..use the jugs machine..mandate 30 straight catches in a row or u dont leave field...seen it done...run over scenarios over and over..and if someone isnt getting it...remove from roster for someone who does...seen that first hand too...essentially..aka...coach your goddamn team and tuck the country club atmosphere up your HC smug ass...there's a thought
