Can we give Kramdi some credit. This forum keeps crapping on him and I don’t get it. He’s no all star but he’s by no means a liability.

I don't see Cline making the PR though. Miami is very deep at OT. You forgot Sage Doxtater from your list. Most of the straight to NFL guys were drafted by the NFL. By my count there are only 6 guys that went as UDFA's straight to the NFL instead of the CFL, and 3 have come back. Sure there is the case of Alaric Jackson who went as a UDFA and turned heads, but very few UDFA's stick for long periods of time and most are cut in their first camp.

Teams very seldom use a top 20 pick on a guy who has legit NFL prospects. BC erred in 2020 with Jackson but for the most part our draftees who go to the NFL as UDFA's come to Canada sooner rather than later.

nah...Osh has and does make many bad decisions...this isn't isolated in any way, and I stand firm in my stance that he is a horrible talent evaluator...

why is "Eli doesn't start" totally on Osh? We've had four different OCs and one OL coach since Eli's been here and the dude has never established himself. Seems like a consensus.

Counter point: we had several different OCs who thought Kolankowski was the right move at centre yet he goes to Hamilton and immediately he isn't a good enough option to beat out a converted guard (who was also here for a time mind you) so I don't buy that the appeal to authority is necessarily the right call here.

Cause hc essentially chooses his roster..and starters..he will take input but end of day its his choice..and the coords deal with it..like it or not...been that way in football forever and if its not the case here and his assistant coaches choose roster..then thats a 1 in a gazillion occurrence.. and totally dysfunctional...thats why

Exactly..case in point number one...and many can be unearthed

And if a converted guard beat him out..then why didnt we see that here and do same..with same player?? Right...cause ...well osh will osh even if it means not best option..

Both MOS and Younger have debunked this claim of yours. Both men unequivocally stated this TC that MOS lets his coordinators choose their starting group. I can understand your frustration with lineups and the bottom line is that the HC needs to step in when his coordinators continue down a bad path, but what you are saying is not factual. Also non-factual is that Eli is somehow being held back by our coaching staff. He has played and he has played badly when he was given a chance. That's on him. If you like what he's doing out there you are about the only one.

That converted guard is Liam Dobson. Not chopped liver. You guys are really meandering out into fantasy land thinking that Kolo not being able to beat out Dobson is some kind of vindication on your point. Right now Dobson is probably one of, if not the top OC in the league. Guy is playing fantastic there. Let's also be very clear that Kola was not beaten out by Dobson he was replaced by him after suffering a groin injury. Dobson just never allowed him his spot back because of his outstanding play.

If we are going to be mad about Kola and Dobson, let's be mad about the fact that our coaching staff never saw the potential of Dobson playing centre. How things might have changed then.

Fact is that if Eli were any kind of centre we wouldn't even be talking about Kola. We've had numerous OCs and the leagues best OL coach all come to the same concensus on him. Not good enough.

Dobson regularly took snaps at centre in camp and practise while he was here

exactly...We had dobson and could have got rid of Kolo....but we didnt...and that is the point I was making...nor foresight..inability to evaluate talent...and basically playing guys they have a boner for ...for whatever reason when not the best option

Dump Kolo 2..3 yrs ago...and his vet salary used to extend Dobson with a few sheckles added would have changed the oline trajectory in a big way

I also didnt see that sound bite nor do I believe it if they said it...and if it the way thy do things..and the HC doesnt see the problems...both should hit the bricks. A HC is the man in charge and at fault when all said and done and if he too blind to see and make changes...get outta town. if this is entirely true which I have my doubts than Younger is almost as weak as Osh in player evaluating and Walter's should have moved on from both

I have a hard time seeing how Younger would want a useless JT...he of a whooping 9 tackles ahead of..well anyone...and thats just one example....but please provide this statement

I've heard of the backup QB being the most popular player in town but the 30 year old injured career #6 OL being the darling is a new one for me

well when center has been a weakness and a void of crap for yrs...and we have never even once gave a player...any player a shot to shore it up..then yeah it becomes an issue

Just like DT...we sucked ass for almost 3 yrs up front with a crap interior guy...and instead of sitting a guy down...or at minumum playing them less to see if it made a difference...we played him even more...reduced the number of guys in rotation and basically sucked more

This yr...that darling is gone...we are actually playing our best guys available, and have a rotation of 6...7 actual dlineman and it's a world of difference....as well as not trying to make a lb be a DE....Took 3 yrs to solve that issue...we on yr 5 of it at center now...and yr 2 of the wort WR group in the league now...with no help in sight with either...dare I say wandering around in the irrelevance category of Cup Contenders shouldn't be a shock to many

Another issue...continually unprepared and not ready...we took a day off mid week last week...and again came out in clueless mode...this week no practice until today when they could have yesterday...so in effect they have 1 real practice before Cgy...and before anyone blabs off about short week....they still had one day off after sunday so no reason not to practice....and even if it was a truly short week and less than 5 days between games and cant get a true whole day off... they can practice but cant be full practice full gear...full contact....sweats and shoulder pads sure but you can practice...and thats from the CBA when I played...and I pretty sure it hasnt changed...too much coddling and country club...we arent a well oiled unit yet...so any practice reps now help...but nope

MOS is constantly berated on here for being too loyal to not good enough NAT vets, yet when he replaces a dud like Eli it's a mistake? The goal posts are not very consistent in these arguments for sure.

If Eli is not in there it is almost certain it is because the coaches do not like his game. PERIOD. He's a NAT, if he were considered equal or close to Elsbury he would be playing. History has taught us that about MOS. Some guys are hanging onto a hard on/hate on for players based on what they were/promised to be 5-6 years ago. The reality is Eli is not a good starting OL.

We let a boat load of talent walk away. We invested picks and let them walk because KW didn't want to pay the market rate for some guys. Let's not pretend that the last few years of NAT talent walking out the door didn't happen. Retention is key to having a good NAT stable of horses. We let way too many walk.

I've read that Walters uses a grid for every position. The money is allocated based on that grid. If player are offered more he won't pay. Period. Don't know if it's true.

It's called budgeting and every GM has to have that laid out in advance in order to stay within the salary cap.

And he explains this basically every free agency period.

If you spend above average in one position, obviously you have less to spend somewhere else.

you can also be fluid in your budgeting and not pidgeon hole yourself in a certain position group...and if opportunity is there to get a guy where you may have to adjust whatever amounts you allocated per group...you do it...we dont...or havnt

Better then subway napkins I guess.

Idk how they came up with numbers though. Look at what we pay DBs now vs a couple years ago (when the secondary was much better)

I think they are pretty fluid.

The big money guys have been all over the position grid based on opportunity.

I mean the obvious one right now is Broxton vs guys on rookie deals at RT.

To be clear, I'm not defending Osh's roster decisions - his not using the designated national rule is practically a fireable offense. But I think you're way underestimating the input of years of assistant coaches. Yes, he's head coach, but you know that assistants, and GM, have opinions about everything. Coaching staffs don't work in isolated silos. And, if the consensus was that Eli was clearly a better option than anyone, clearly destined to be an above average CFL center, the chatter would be overwhelming. I suspect while there may have been some diverging opinions, the perception was that he was equivalent or just marginally better than the other options. There clearly wasn't a strong enough consensus to really pound the table for him. If you want to place blame, let's go with the GM for not reacting to the fact that since Couture, Goosen, we have had below league average play at center.

And how about our future Hall of Fame, Cup winning, multiple times concussed QB? You think they would have ignored his opinion if he felt very strongly about Eli over any of the other options? QB's don't make the final personnel decisions, but you know future HoF'ers have a ton of influence, especially over a center! There is a world, crazy as this seems to the Eli fan club (myself being a former member) that ZC felt better with Kolo and Elsbury there. Not sure why, but could be.

Nobody knows what consensus is...I also have heard the love what he can do as that 6th..and we have nobody who can replicate so thats where they want him..plus he can back up multiple spots..so there is that too

I've been around football long enough..both sides of border to know at the end of the day its the HC call...and also know not to put too much into what is said in the media..or the democracy type atmosphere that will be purported as well...but whatever the real deal is..we have seen more than enough dumb roster moves..with many different coords and some insanely stupid in game decisons with one common denominator to pretty much determine the main culprit as to the stupidity for most part

Dolphins rookie camp started on Monday and their main camp starts next Tuesday so we'll see if he makes it to the next stage. Their OL room is pretty packed with vets and high draft picks so he's got a tough road in front of him as a UDFA. Haven't seen a whole lot written about him through the OTA's besides the fact his college OLine coach is now an assistant in Miami so he'll have some insight on what Cline can do.

MOS sets the 53 and coordinators have carte blanche with who starts/rotates from there.

You may not want to believe that but we've already seen Younger rotating guys and changing their positions all over the place during the game. Unless MOS is a ventriloquist that's all Younger. Coordinators determine who is on the field during the game.

No doubt we probably could make a couple inconsequential roster moves to the 53 that possibly could be better, we could probably change our ratio for the better as well and that's MOS but when you are talking about player X not getting enough or too many reps during the game..talk to their coordinator

He will stray if there is room but he says he likes to allot so much per position group and wont stray unless he has wiggle room. Won't steal from Peter to pay Paul I believe were his words

Parts true...Osh also will input as to what he will wanna run at times too...and with whom.. hence why he is buried in his call sheet and at times oblivious as to whats going on

Between u..me and any random tree the both of them need to be better

Dejon Allen was cut by BC. Think the Trinity will bring him on? They could move Jerrel Broxton to LT & put Allen at RT which would be an instant improvement. But probably not.

I would....and I'd move Bryant to left guard.

He has it in his head now, or just knows he needs to kick out a bit quicker than before...You can see it and it basically neutralizes part of his game he excels at....Hand skills

He now mainly on mostly pass pro ..not all but some, put him self at a disadvantage where he is not properly set in his base and ends up either having to reach and or over extend to engage and gets him off balance and a quicker guy...or a technically sound one can beat him wide, or get him lunging outside and inside they go...Hence why he has been dinged with a few holdings already. Thats the issue...He is fine in run plays and certain passing schemes.

It's weird cause he didnt look that way in camp, and still is technically sound and has the great hands...seen it in camp...so not sure if in a game he was getting beat off snap and now it's in his head

Slide him into guard and that will go away. He can just pop out of stance and engage more effectively, and we use him off center in qb sneaks as it anywy...and a vet like him would easily adjust anyway

That is a good idea but the problem is then we,d have 4 Americans starting on the OL. Broxton, Bryant, Elsbury & Allen which would screw with the ratio. . I was thinking that Broxton moves to LT & Broxton to RT. Bryant would be out. As a backup maybe.
