Can we give Kramdi some credit. This forum keeps crapping on him and I don’t get it. He’s no all star but he’s by no means a liability.

Brown’s interview is perfect. “Well we won…we didn’t play very well”

Ellsbury is 100% an American Kolo. Perhaps even a tad worse.

How the heck can an import center be as bad as or worse than Kolankowski? Another baffling choice by O'Shea.

Id say Griffin has been our best all yr.....But agree Jones prob had his best game here so far last night

Osh is an idiot....and from some his again stupid roster decisions...his inability to have his team come out prepared and kicking some butt...kina confirms it...There are a ton of issues we need to adress, and we would be prob the elite team again...but wins where we kinda lucked out...or squeeked by when we should have ran away with a game...glosses over it and he see's no issues....

yeah I didnt see that either...he was just not used....and when he was we ran him into KOLO.2.0 area of line...so was getting contact before even getting over l.o.s for most part...thats not on him

Plus Condell did nothing in any aspect of his game plan to set things up, for certain plays tpo really succeed...aka..the MCI run....that if used and set ip properly could be a huge play when we run it more often than not

i agree and my issue is the constant unpreparedness which is a common theme now....and at times next to zero adjusting...just the belief that it will work. You hit nail on had tho...We can be more critical of some things when say Dixon..Woodbey and Lawson are back...Maybe a position tweak in the LB/DB group...we have the horses in house..Osh just needs to recognize whats an issue and actually act on it...can he?...will he???

The offence needs a playmaker who is legit 1aaa...will help immensely and the import center idea should be stopped...the bang isn't worth the buck if losing an import elsewhere...Eli will be no worse than Elsbury/Kolo and if given the role and stays there will be fine. He was fine in his start here...but Elsbury was less than Wallace at guard

Back to tweaks on roster...ZC wouldnt have won us that game last night....and there wasnt some real revelation of an adjustment that got is the win...Dru Brown just got er done and you can see if you know what you looking for that many of his 4th quarter plays were all on him and not really on script...Kudus to him...especially working with what he's been handed

what was there...4...5 real bad drops?....worst group in league right now in it's current set up

At the beginning of the season Ellsbury was not great but out of position and a rookie. I thought he had the physical tools and needed seasoning to flourish, but last night, he was brutal against a D-line that was not all that good. Wallace struggled as well, but it occurs to me that maybe our center and left guard were bad because Wallace was trying to cover for Ellsbury, much as Neufeld tried to cover for Kolankowski for the past few years. I have no freaking idea why Eli is not at center but it has come down to desperation before Brown gets seriously killed.

Wallace has a really bad habit of kicking wide in pass pro which completely opens up the middle.

He might actually be an option at LT because half the time he's playing LG like he's trying to be the LT.

Teams watching film will find that vulnerability and hit us with double A blitzes basically force a 3 on 2 on our interior if Wallace makes that mistake.

That left side is getting no drive off the line either. I know everyone including our coaches loves that Wallace works to find guys at the whistle and do a little extra. I'd like if he could start doing his job more consistently.

I really think we need a guy who can make a play downfield on a contested catch. I got nothing against White, Wilson or Demski as receivers but none of them are really that guy.

thats why id like us to bring Rhymes in...He doesnt have to be "the man" but he'd be that guy we need to be a downfield guy to win contested balls to aid in White/Wilson/Demski getting less attention, and Cob getting minumum....and Corcoran getting none

Center issues again....and like you mentioned in another post...if we did some play action stuff and runs with motion and MCI and BO together....that MCI toss would produce big...as well as spread the dline and give BO less to deal with for his interior runs, or anything off tackle

But hate to beat a dead horse, but that 3rd Canadian WR is not helping us at all....Hopefully when Clercius is back we use him in the slot and it becomes an actual position that needs attention and we not as handi-capped. I hope he and Nield are used in rotation and at times together...Clercius has solid hands and wont drop many...if any. Nield for most part so far has been kind of a disapointment...is it our scheme and use of him...or was last yr just an abberation?...we shall see...he has all the tools so I have high hopes

Cobb give him kudos for the convert catch. His veteran awareness was key as he knew where to go, and recognized to get there immediately. He has value for us as the backend Canadian WR to support the 3 top Canadians...of which we should only really be starting 2 of, and is a steady reliable returner....he isnt a game breaker but he is serviceable and wont hurt you if pressed into action in a game...Corcoran serves zero purpose...We have Daniels to groom as a blocking receiver and a better option mismatch wise to get yards on short range catches...and possibly rumbling for yards. He has upside and potential..Corcoran just is what he is...And I have a hard time seeing him make any other roster

And on the short yardage runs...he was useless...on the Perkins stuff he did absolutely nothing

yeah people say the 5th is a non issue and wont see any targets...thats a load of crap...and doesn't have to be a wasted spot...Other teams use theirs...and if they dont they take attention away from the top guys...its just stupid wasted rostering...and even with just 2 National Oline guys...we still dont have to use 3 Canadians to meet ratio...we can easily use the Nationalized American, and or any 2 of Kramdi..Smith...Lawson...Kelly on defence to support ratio requirement...Its just a choice by Osh...and an extremely useless dumb one at that

couldnt agree more.....2...3 small tweaks with how we ratio our roster would fix a lot

Yep.

We could’ve used the draw last night as well. as soon as the ball was snapped the dl were out of lanes and looping.

Screen pass and pa screen to get the ball in brady’s hands in a high percentage play and put him one on one with a lber.

elsbury isn’t out of position, he is a C. He has the size and athleticism of a T, but he’s mainly played C. He seems to lack the ability to turn his athleticism into drive, and is more of a run jump guy than a power guy.

best fit and with zach hitting the 6 game we should have cap flexibility eventually. Idk if rhymes wants to come out of retirement, probably would want a massive deal but he fits the need and doesn’t cost an asset

Also, with a single nfl pre season ending cut down date instead of multiple staggered cuts, that doesn’t happen till the end of next month, we are not going to see many guys come up and make an impact if any league wide.

Rhymes would be worth a look imo.

As for coaching ...Condell looked to be the 'pass first' guy we thought he was...last night it almost backfired...We have an ace running back in Brady who pounds defences while picking up good yardage and I had to check the lineup to see if he was rostered for the game ...Granted when he was finally used he made some crucial yardage BUT c'mon, this was a team missing their middle linebacker and we shyed away from using our difference maker....Lousy decision...especially after witnessing our receivers suffering the dropsies and at that time should have switched to the run game...Came out with the 2 pts....luckily....We have to be better next game in 'a lot' of departments ...or 'lucky' will likely run out on us

I’ll join in on the Elsbury pile on. On the short yardage play on the first drive he got blown up so badly his feet came off the ground when he bounced backwards. On another run in the 2nd half he got popped so hard he ended up back at the los standing straight up when Oliviera was tackled.

Our run game, both bc of playcalling and blocking, hasn’t been good enough. I’d like to see some more runs behind Broxton in either the B or C gap. RPOs are fine but it’s basically all we do.

No worse than Elsbury/Kolo is not good enough. I think the problem is overall we're probably weakest in the CFL at center. Whether it's this season or next, we need to upgrade at center. Eli has been with the team 7 seasons and through a combination of injuries, baffling Osh decisions and failing to really distinguish himself from the pack when he did play, it's pretty clear that it's not going to happen with him. The Rimington Award watch was a long time ago. I don't think you're a true championship contender with below average center play.

120 tackkes..1 int..4 sacks for his 3 yrs combined as a SAM where you are always in or around 70 percent of plays aren't elite numbers or anywhere close to the average of other top SAMs in league over that time

and its not an issue that teams were avoiding him...he was just being beat or out of position...he serves a good purpose and role but isnt a true starter calibre

Nothing to do with wrongly assessing him...he just ain't elite or provides value for his bloated salary

Last year he was the highest ranked SAM in PFF. That is above average over other SAMs in the league I would say. You still have an axe to grind with him, but his PFF rating says otherwise. I get that PFF ain't the end all be all but it is an advanced stat showing he is most definitely starting calibre.

Teams are free to release beforehand and probably will. The deadline was extended but no way NFL teams keep every guy right until the end. In fact we probably see guys released earlier so that others can be brought in with expanded rosters until the 30th. You can look at multiple players because there is no cut down dates before Aug 30 so there will be roster room. If a guy is not working out you can cut him and bring in another fringe guy in his place and still have time to get a good look if you cut the first guy soon enough.

There are a bunch of UFL guys looking for gigs. Not many are getting NFL looks.

But that league is pretty bad. Might be a few lineman worth a look. Most of the receivers are guys that have already been cut 2-3 teams in CFL camps.

The UFL offers almost nothing for skill players but might have some useful guys in the trenches. Maybe we bring back Garrett Marino...lol

not to mention the nice ole where he let the DT thru clean and basically pushed him into Dru

I would put next to zero value into PFF garbage...very non-contextual and doesnt really tell the true story...Was Kolo not ranked tops many times too?

I'm talking about stats and impact...If you wanna debunk me stack up his numbers vs the other SAMS in the league...compare tackles...especially tackles for loss or no gain...how many take aways does he have vs others..there is your real indicator...and he near the bottom if not the bottom in all....but he is paid like the best

Was that all his fault though? Wallace stood there and did nothing until the de spun back inside after the play was basically over. Elsbury missed him but I don’t know if he was supposed to have help or not.

Wallace's first two steps were out wide to his left to nobody when Ottawa had pressure coming A-A-B to his right, a rush end wide of Bryant rushing. So they get a 3 on 2 vs the rest of our interior, really 2 on 1 vs the centre who has to choose because Wallace can't read what's happening in front of him/he's got a bad habit of widening out and opening his hips every snap in pass pro. Put's our QB's at huge risk. Wallace just needs to be a wall and let the rush come to him as an interior guy instead of chasing/turning. He can take up two gaps if he keeps his hips square to the LOS, when he opens up in his first 2-3 steps he's blocking zero gaps.

Everyone is seeing this on film and will keep prodding it until it's corrected. No issue when 54 was in for Wallace. At that point our only vulnerability was speed rush off the left and Daniels being included in protection not being able to read when he needs to block or when he can leak out.

TSN has like 6 channels

Bombers were on 2

How isn’t that an issue

But only started on time on one of them. Two weeks in a row the program on the channel I chose for my recording ran long and cut off part of the game. The CFL is little more than an afterthought to Bell.

Given O'Shea's tendency to play favourites at the expense of the team's success and Eli's college resume, I would be confident in thinking that Eli has never had a good shot at being a starter. Let Eli play himself into a consistent starter's role at center or move on. God knows, there is no way he could be worse than Kolankowski or Elsbury.

I hope you’re right, I think an early wave of cuts is good for teams and camps. we will see how it pans out. I can see a lot of teams sitting on a lot of guys.

I think the guys who would shake loose early would be the udfa rookies and previous year pr guys. Maybe cline, not drafted guys etc unless they mess up bad.

I don’t think eli is more than 60-65% healthy. At this point idk if he will be 100% any time soon. If he’s more than that then it’s time to move on.

The ol is a real mess and is more than one move away from being where it needs to be.

There’s the possibility he is worse tho. And that’s why he hasn’t consistently started. O’Shea likely gets his input from Marty the oline coach tho. You say dude plays favorites but a guy who has been here 7 years and keeps signing here isn’t being played as a starter. Is O’Shea playing favorites or are you? Do you get info from the oline coach? No you going on about college Which was now 10 years ago for Eli roughly. What is it? Favorites or not? How can O’Shea play favorites with a guy who just got here over a guy who has been here osheas entire time.

Eli? Ideal 6 th oline. After 7 seasons or so, safe to assume not a starter. Don’t think Marty has been the OL coach the entire time also so 2 oline coaches not starting Eli.

who knows the scheme there...was one to do a 50 block and move to help with a double team...were they just to man up....so hard to say who if either effed up...but also both need to be more aware too...The push right into Dru was not a good look tho

Yeah I think Wallace is trying to do too much....or is too aggressive in trying to find a guy to engage...In pass pro he just needs to pop up...set his base and assess from there...He's athletic enough for a big load to do that...I sure he will learn that...well I hope

And yeah Mazz was solid...and he is a big mean ol machine...If we want to keep going 3 imports than slap him at guard and let Eli take over center...We would be better off I bet

I think Manu is gonna be out in an early wave...they now basically have him trying to see if he can be a guard, and have wrote him off at Tackle...basically a last gasp by Detroit, and he is down the depth at guard too...Big knock on him has been has shown no real development in getting lower and gaining leverage...too upright and just loses any leverage...strong and big but he's getting owned technique wise...Hoping no one takes a flier on him and those deficiencies up here wont be an issue.

He was essentially spending first 2 yrs learning the american game...he didn't progress then at tackle...he now on borrowed time

Havnt heard/seen much of Cline...but he was undrafted right?...so could be on early ticket outta town too

And amazing how we went from a position of strength with oline to one of the poorer ones in league in a blink

But paying money for aged and washed up vets on both sides of the ball to lose a Dobson...or fail to sign a FA cause we figured Kolo was good enough and payed him and others...diminishing what we could spend was a poor decision

FTR, I’ve decided to remove ppl who consistently repeat the same thing.

Tracker, you’re safe for now. Getting close tho.
