Bombers at Redblacks early chat

Good to see Zach back in pads but we know everyone wants Dru to start, even Ottawa fans probably want Dru to annihilate the Redblacks to stick it to Dumbwiddie.

Dolegala sure, but Maier is a legitimate backup calibre qb in this league. Elgersma needs more than a dozen five yard completions to prove himself.

Yes but the people who use that phrase completely misunderstand that it is more apt to apply to supporters than critics.

Lawson hurt, so he’s out. Jenkins on.

Hazen out for Boulane

Lawson and Collaros both to the 6-game based on that depth chart?

Also note that, we're only starting 7 Canadians this week.

Yep. Both are in 6-gamer.

Thats a pretty telling reaction.

What other team can have their starting quarterback placed on the 6 game list and fans are more concerned about a Canadian lineman?

Fans who pay attention. Bomber fans. We are unique.

I'm fine with Collaros being on the 6 game. Let Dru/Elgersma/Perkins cook. If Dru gets knicked up in the next 5 games (retroactive 6 game i'm assuming), then take Collaros off. But otherwise we get some juicy cap savings.

Now Rourke is out for probably significant time as well. His replacement Cody Brice threw four picks. Yikes. All the more reason NOT to trade Collaros.

What would we do without Collaros?

Lawson seems to be injured a lot.

I think this is so important. It could very well just be paperwork transactions.

Btw good thing we acted fast on the Brown trade. I think teams like Hamilton and BC would be all in if he was still available, and likely give up more in return.

I mentioned that during TC that Lawson is injury prone. Someone here blasted me. D

The selling point for Dru to come back was Zach, O'Shea and likely Walters telling Dru he has a chance to be the starting qb in the near future when Zach hangs em up.

yea because one freak knee injury and a hip injury of unknown length over 6 years makes one injury prone. Other wise he’s played 14/14, 18/18, 15/18 16/18, and 5 of 6 as of game day this week. So out side of the knee injury he’s missed 5 of 68 games.

Selling point was he liked it here..family liked it here..was comfortable here...if we had a diff head coach..but same players..he still woulda wanted to be here

Walters looks like a genius for sure. He waited any longer that whole thing becomes a lot harder to pull off

You do realize that Zach will be coming back. Just because he's on the 6 game IR, doesn't measn he can't come off early. Why do you have such a hate on for the guy> Until he was injured, he was having a pretty good year under Tommy Condell. The way I see it, the stronger the QB Room, the stronger we are as a team.

This gives Dru a chance to settle in now & take command of the offence. If he plays well it may be hard for Osh to give the starting job back to Zach. But we all know Osh is.... Osh.

Collaros moved to 6 game IR suggests he won't be practising next week. O'Shea didn't think he'd be there for the entire 6 game stint but didn't suggest how long it might be before he can return.

I'm not disagreeing that is a bad decision but it puts us in the same depth problem we had before trading for Brown. If Brown is injured, we're starting a rookie at QB until Collaros can return.

The bigger question in my mind is whether Collaros should ever play another game and further risk his long term health. He missed games last year with the same issue and it's a cumulative problem. Add in the concussion history makes me think he's taking a big risk.

Having traded for Brown was fortunate timing but I would have made the same comment regardless.

The league doing basically nothing to protect QB's in the pocket from direct blows to the head and neck could factor into that decision making too.

The officiating in this league is at a crisis state between elderly refs in decline and extremely raw officials who can't manage the speed at this level.

As far as the injury bug reoccurring with Lawson...I can recall a few years back when Neuf was going through the same thing....in the tub constantly...Many wanted to part ways with him but we waited it out with regard to Neufeld and he's been fairly healthy for us through the years...Lawson is very valuable to this club and we'll most likely give him the same time to play through the 'bug' ...hopefully

I have no hatred for Collaros at all. He was instrumental in the Bomber Grey cup wins but particularly last year and again this, he is not the player he was and will not be again, except in short terms. His aging cannot be denied and inevitable. He is very well paid and has some market value this year- next year, not much. There is the business side of pro sports which does not allow for sentimentality. The team comes first. Period. It is yet to be proven absolutely that Brown is a worthy successor who will take the team to the Cup, but he certainly looks the part. The whole offence seems to come alive when he is behind center, and that is what we need. Yes, he could be injured, but who knows?

Just your weekly reminder that Zach Collaros has been outstanding to start the year until he got hurt. Remember what you want about last year, but this year he was VERY good prior to being hurt.

Just your weekly reminder that you're not being truthful when you say that.... Collaros has looked better than last season to start the year but he certainly hasn't been outstanding.

I wouldnt say outstanding..or even very good...he was OK

Was playing kinda within himself a bit more than we are used to seeing..so appeared like he was resurgent..but he got away with some horrendous passes and decisions before he got hurt..and still was showing weakened arm strength, an inability to consistently hit guys in stride or lead them into space

And his pocket presence and ability to navigate in it to buy time..or get in a better spot to set up and throw was non existent..again..like previous 2 yrs...he looks panicked ..unsure where and when to make a deliberate decision and looks a lot like a confused rookie now than a seasoned vet

One game of Brown was night and day opposite...curious for tonight to see if there is a continuation of that..if so..if and when ZC can come off 6 game...he shouldn't be handed keys to offence again..just because...time marches on and he is on borrowed time now

Yup..as per my post above...too much of the tendencies we saw last 2 yrs are there in full force

Using your logic, the team comes first so you keep him once he's cleared to play.
