Heard yesterday morning out of Regina a Rider player had been in a wreck and that it was likely the Rider players fault, didn't know who until afternoon. Then a lot of locals went off on a "brown guy

This is like the Chris Benoit story. At first I was like oh my god 3 ppl dead so sad so tragic then a day later the details come out and I can’t stand Chris Benoit. While Dalke did not kill his wife and child, he did kill another person. And basically, that’s just as bad if not worse oh this case cuz dude was just a random stranger, wrong place wrong time or maybe right place at the right time depending on how you look at it. 1 persons mistakes = 2 dead. Dalke can burn with Benoit. Some of the comments on social media make our comments during the game look sane and not purely emotionally based.

I was thinking the exact same thing with respect to benoit. Man what a mess.

Oh man. Not as tragic now in my opinion. Unfortunately dude made a decision that cost him his life

Luckily he didn’t take anyone with him.

He killed another driver.

Maybe it's time we learned about the other driver. I don't know his skin colour, religious beliefs or whether he was born in Canada (in response to JBR's earlier comments upon hearing a brown guy took out a Rider player on the highway). I'm sure he was a hero to his family & friends. Jared Dalke killed another human being by making a stupid & selfish decision. Vince McMahon doesn't look so stupid now with his premature tribute to Chris Benoit & the sharp criticism he took after details of his death & the murder of his family came out. His name & menory have been expunged by the WWE. The Buffalo Bills have decided not to honour OJ Simpson at their new stadium. Should Dalke be treated the same way by the Riders if the circumstances of the accident details are true?

This is still a tragedy for everyone involved like family, friends, coaches & teammates. Matter of fact, I feel for his immediate family. They must be horrified by news of the accident details.

RCMP confirmed he stole gas at the Co-Op in Lumsden minutes prior to the crash.

He was either out of his mind on substances or a pure *******.

Is that truly confirmed?? Or hearsay on your part?? Dalke may have had a brain injury such as CTE & just went off the deep end. Maybe he was suicidal? His actions seem out of character.

Sask. Roughrider in fatal crash was driving on wrong side...

Saskatchewan Roughriders linebacker Jayden Dalke was driving the wrong way on the highway with alcohol and cannabis in his vehicle before the crash that killed him and another man, RCMP say.

RCMP did not receive any reports about a vehicle travelling the wrong way on the highway prior to the crash, Maier said. However, she revealed that RCMP received a report at 8:27 p.m. CST about a silver SUV having left a gas station in Lumsden without paying for fuel, and that further investigation found it was the same SUV that was in the crash.

Sadly a lot of pro athletes in contact sports spend a lot of their career/life blasted out of their mind on weed and analgesics. There's also that feeling of invincibility.

In communities I'm involved with there's a lot of guys who cause carnage like this who die young and are looked at as heroes, awards named after them etc. Always kind of makes me sick. Would be nice if eventually we get to a place where we can talk about how irresponsible drinking/substance abuse and driving are. Use these situations as the cautionary tale and don't bury the reality of what happened.

Good post. Always sad to hear Tom Cochrane's song "Big League" get re-enacted in real life. Terrible story.

Good reminder that the Argos literally have no personnel department currently. 3 guys in semi-retirement.

These are young men, young men drink and party. I hate to sum up a guy's life based on an youthful act of sheer stupidity. That being said, Dalke took a life and does not deserve to be honored by any professional sports organization because of it. I don't care if he had CTE, or addiction to painkillers, or suicidal. His decision that day cost a young 22 year old man his life. The Riders need to send a message that this was not an acceptable act.

The Roughrider organization, in fact the CFL, should honour this man and provide support in any way they can to his family.

We have our disagreements from time to time and makes good discussion....but couldn't agree more..and would feel same way if it was a player here..there...anywhere

No excuse for that now..and I wanna know was this after a team gathering or function of some type and others left and did same thing and got lucky on drive home..or was it just a isolated incident of one guy making a poor choice...if nothing was set up for guys to get home safe is drinking was gonna be involved...shame on them

Saskatchewan Roughriders to honour Jayden Dalke car crash...

The Saskatchewan Roughriders plan to honour 22-year-old Regina resident Bhishma Rajyaguru on Thursday at Mosaic Stadium after he was killed in a car crash involving team captain Jayden Dalke. The Ride

The friends of Bhishma Rajyaguru set up a go fund me to send him home to India. It’s reached its goal and then some. Still some hope for humanity here.

I’m going to assume 1 thing here, the reason the rcmp didn’t receive reports of a vehicle travelling in the wrong direction was prob cuz Bhishma Rajyaguru’s car was the only one on the road at that time cuz gotta think if there was another one, we hearing about them not Bhishma. It’s Saskatchewan right. It’s not that busy.

I think this is a reminder tho that b4 people put athletes up on pedestals that maybe we should wait to hear the full story. Originally it wasn’t reported he killed a dude or was basically fubar out his mind, was just reported he died in a car crash. Time to wait for facts b4 honouring murderers really.

Thanks for sharing. Kudos to the organization. I feel a lot of sadness for this young man and all his family and friends.

FYI: if you buy a beer, you can be certain of what you are getting. Stuff from the street is a crap shoot- it can be pure crap, unexpectedly powerful or cut with God knows what. Even some strains of pot in some individuals can trigger paranoia. It could have happened here.

yep they dealt with it the best way they could. I’m impressed.

honestly, there are soo many gaps that fall between the cracks from synthetics to stuff like kratom. Not to mention contamination issues in all kinds of facilities for supplements and more.

The regulation around this stuff is terrifying and the variances un real in manufacturing.

I’m not gonna make any excuses or assumptions. Frankly if he was drunk, high or just driving really stupid it doesn’t matter. both he and the victim are dead. It’s tragic and sad as hell. I don’t think any further revelations will have any impact on the reality of the situation.

My understanding he was returning home from Leduc to Regina after the team.s bye. I'm of the same opinion, there's no way Dalke should be honoured until we know more about what happened & if he had drugs &/or alcohol in his system at the crash. However, the Riders will do what they want to do. Was Dalke suicidal? Did he want to be killed? We'll probably never know that but if he had CTE that might go a long way in explaining what happened.

Tragic for the young 22 year old man and his family. Tragic for Dalke’s family, the Riders and their fans. Tragic for Dalke (foolish and senseless way too early death) in that if all of the details released so far are true. It makes for a very difficult situation for the Riders (how do you honor that player?). It makes for a very tough situation for the CFL (one of the leaders of last year’s Grey Cup Championship squad did something horrible and disgraced the role as a player). TSN (who spent at least a half hour on Sunday’s broadcast with incomplete info) are going to have to somehow walk this back. Knowing who the panel/spokesmen on the football broadcasts are, this may not be pretty. All in all the only thing this does is serve as a powerful lesson to younger folks, money and fame don’t bring true happiness. Doing the things in your life that make you a good person do.
