I’m at camp today. First observation is DeShaan Dixon has the shortest shorts I’ve ever seen on a football player.

I get that honestly and actually kinda feel that way myself. My first reaction was confidence is nice but dude might be in for a bit of a surprise. I’m not sure he actually understands the talent level in the CFL. By all means I hope he dominates and takes the other end spot and doesn’t look back and we got ourselves a stud ratio breaker on the DL. I mean I hope he dominates but something tells me he won’t immediately.

Yeah, I thought that too. I have no problem with him being confident…. You have to be to succeed in pro sports. But he might be underestimating the talent he’s going to face in the CFL.

Jordan Herdman-Reed and Thiadric Hansen both cut in TO. I don’t think we need either one of them, but interesting.

They also cut Spencer Brown, who started a bunch of games for them. Got off to a great start, but faded badly after that.

Re: Nuer comments... I think it's worth noting that he said them to a Denver based reporter, not a Canadian one. If he's made those comments to Tait, I'd be a little more irked about it.

It's entirely possible he doesn't know what "dominating" means. He said he dominated in Denver, but was not signed, now he is saying he could dominate up here. Maybe the bar he sets on "dominating" is low.

Yeah I was looking at articles on Denver's mini camp and haven't seen his name mentioned anywhere. You'd think that if he truly was dominating (even briefly), he'd have warranted some talk but nope.

Whether he's a legend in his own mind or he actually did perform really well, he seems motivated to bust his ass and get another shot down south so we'll see how it plays out. I hope the energy level on the field matches his confidence.

RE: Alijah Mcghee.

Is it just me or have we done this many times before. Legit not judging or anything. But I seem to recall that we often bring a guy into the 1s, test him out there, and then cut him the next day.

I think they've done the opposite quiet a bit. Bring in a vet...put him in the spot whether he's being out performed or not and wait until 3 or 4 games into the season before deciding to move on, sometimes forced to by injury even. For me it's a good sign that they got rid of him if they felt like they have someone else who can get it done.

Yeah McGhee is definitely a surprise after running with the starters. Interesting.

To be fair, we will see a ton of young guys running with the starters in TC. We don't have much of an opening, and the guys we have know JYs system very well. For once, you don't expect any learning curve to start the season. Because of that, we have the fantastic luxury to slide guys around and really give young guns a shot with the 1s, while also using vets with the lower groups to help coach them, and see how they work together. I think this year is going to be the best year for our D under JY.

100%, and that confidence, especially as a rookie, is key. Part of the year 2 slowing down experience plays is just having the confidence to jump on the opportunities they see as soon as it comes up.

Yeah I get that. Also true. Maybe it's that **** out get off the pot moment that I'm seeing where a guy that is supposed to take that next step doesn't. You put him in the 1s in practice and say "this is your opportunity" and if they can't do it then they bring in the next guy.

Feel like it was that way with Myron Mitchell last year. So not exactly established veterans, more guys that have been around a bit and need to prove themselves to be a full time starter.

For me it's not about slighting the CFL - we know what it is for guys (especially the young Americans) - but that it shows a lack of awareness. You're going to be competing against career CFLers and you're making this statement to CFL fans. You need to be pretty ignorant to make this statement.

That is important context that I was not aware of, thanks!

Anyone know what happened to JSK. I saw he hurt his knee a few days ago and needed help off but no updates since really. And I’d imagine moxie at one corner and likely Vaval at the other is the plan so maybe there’s a spot open in the DB field but I’d assume as backup cuz moxie Nichols holm Vaval makes sense to me so prob looking for a dude who is a bit more versatile. Maybe can play corner and half and teams.

If thats the case i hope Vaval earns it and its not given to him because he's a great returner and he's chirping that he wants the job. Honestly i'd rather have someone else take that spot to keep Vaval fresh for returns.

Agreed. But year 2 for Vaval and apparently he’s big on film and learning so maybe he is the best option. I’d imagine they keep another guy around tho cuz ya smart thing to do is keep him fresh. But maybe that other guy is a returner also. There’s options. I don’t recall us rostering extra American DBs last year tho. 420 linebackers tho. I think you may see something similar again cuz JSK Wilson woodsy jones Kramdi Shay smith Novak etc etc etc makes me think 420 linebackers again but maybe Kramdi and a guy like smith could by hybrid DB types.

I believe he was put on the 6 game (is that allowed now?) At least thats what someone mentioned on the other forum. If thats the case, the rumor of an Achilles might have some weight....which would really suck for him.

Correct - he's on the 6 game as of today.

No concerns about this kids head space for me

If Vaval is an every down player on D you basically need to dress a DI to cover that spot anyways because we don't have a Canadian who can play corner and punt returner is the most likely player on the whole team to get injured.

I don't know if Vaval is really being considered to start at CB. He might be capable but he's very valuable as our returner and can be an in game injury replacement if necessary.

You'd think one of the remaining 6 or 7 rookie import DB's will win that role. Or they are giving serious thought to moving Allen and shuffling the SAM and safety roles.

Reports from TC might suggest who is winning which battles.

I can’t imagine that the plan would be for him to start, short of some massive leap forward as a db. I’d be thrilled if he can improve and be the dime sub pack db along with kr
