Captain Blue Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago Osh is 7th among all time winning head coaches. Seventh. To bet that the Bombers could find a better head coach then him would require an all time stroke of luck. There is definitely an argument to say his time has or will need to come to an end. I personally thought he was going to Toronto. I am mostly just pointing out that he is not nearly as stupid as some here would have you believe. sportmentary2012, Bigblue204, coach17 and 3 others 1 5

Turns out the 10 of you on here are the minority. This is something that I think is overlooked overall. The best way to win Grey Cups is to be good consistently. That means consistent playoff appearances and good or great spots in them. The Bombers during the Cup drought had the occasional really good or great time. They just never had a sustained run of success, so all it took was bad kicks or bad luck and we were screwed. Then back to the CFL basement eventually. Rinse and repeat. If we are continually really good under Osh (which we have), we will be competing for Cups. That's a pretty darn good deal. Bigblue204, Mark H., bb1 and 1 other 1 3

I know it's fun to think a new coach behind door number two may turn out to be a new superstar coach, but in this case you're hoping that that guy could someday wind up as good as Osh. Good coaches with a proven track record would generally seem a better bet than a new hire. Also to sit here in November and speak so confidently in the roster or staff is something neither of us could possibly know. Noeller and Bigblue204 2

Also to sit here in November and speak so confidently in the roster or staff is something neither of us could possibly know. We don’t need a superstar coach, we need one who can competently manage the clock, roster, challenges and coaching staff. Mos, is proven with a historically dominant roster. We are seeing what he can do with a roster that isn’t one of the best ever. And it’s an awful lot like what we saw before the run. You’re right that proven coaches are a rare valuable commodity in the cfl. Especially ones you can win with currently. I didn’t have much hope for that for next year. Next to none when dinwiddie went to ott. The hope was we could atleast start to build back to being a good team. That has mostly evaporated. Maybe if we hadn’t seen the same thing for two off seasons in a row. Like I said, i’d be thrilled if i’m wrong and walters/mos really turn over a new leaf. But I sure wouldn’t bet on it. If they do, I’ll happily eat some crow. 35 minutes ago, SpeedFlex27 said: If Walters sits on his hands under his fat ass & does nothing again in free agency, we're cooked. Probably be very busy resigning the guys who no one else wants to sign lol. I’m glad walters will be back running our draft. The canadian depth will likely be a bright spot for us next year. 3rdand1.5 Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Brady IMO is already an overpay.....he is a NI star and a very very good RB, a hometown guy, a really likable guy that fricken saves dogs....but.... If someone else wants to outbid us for him, and build a roster around a NI RB, then honestly let them.....We can't afford to hurt the betterment of the overall roster...same way I felt about Ford last year minus the intangibles....but this year we need help along both lines and that doesn't come cheap.... Winnipeg is actually more like his actual home town than Toronto is... Semantics. He played most of his pro career there and grew up 300 km away. Jets Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Glass half full view is that maybe O'Shea having one foot halfway out the door this offseason is very positive for the next few season(s). If we had just quietly re-signed him and Walters to extensions, they probably just happily carry on with the status quo and continue the decline. I'm hoping that O'Shea going out and interviewing and getting some input from other teams lit a fire under his ass to come back here and do a serious re-load with a fresh outlook and new ideas.

But now that Osh is back I hope he takes his own advice and learns from this past season. You can't just roll with the same guys forever. Vets are good, but they can't be the washed up, banged up, career is up kind. This offseason will be very telling. O'Shea's track record offers much proof that he is unwilling or incapable of learning from his mistakes. Noeller and wbbfan 1 1

coach17 Posted 47 minutes ago Report Posted 47 minutes ago MOS and Walters have their warts for sure. Neither is perfect and as others have said have not performed up to the standards the last couple of years which most of us expect. We probably lost 2 of the last 3 Grey Cups because of poor decisions they made. However having been around when we got rid of Murphy and Ritchie because their teams regressed after some excellent years, but were unable to replace them with competence for many years. I for one am glad we had the foresight to resign both and give them another term at the helm. Mark H. 1
