2025 CFL (Non-Bombers) Season

From 3DN about TSN broadcasts this year....

"The CFL on TSN is taking a renewed approach to its broadcasts for 2025.

The network’s panel will travel to all nine stadiums over the course of the upcoming season, sources told 3DownNation, including visits to Regina and Montreal in Week 1. Kate Beirness is returning to host the panel with Henoc Muamba and Davis Sanchez filling the main roles alongside her.

Paul LaPolice will also frequently appear on the panel, though he will also perform colour commentary for one game per week. As previously reported, longtime panelist and Hall of Fame quarterback Matt Dunigan is no longer with the network.

As for Milt Stegall, who has been with the network since 2009, there is no timeline for his return after the death of his eldest son, Chase. The 20-year-old died unexpectedly at DePaul University on Monday where he was a member of the school’s soccer team.

“Our CFL on TSN family is absolutely devastated over Chase’s passing. If you know Milt, you know that his family is everything to him, and we cannot imagine the pain he is going through right now,” said producer Chris Edwards in a statement to 3DownNation. “Milt is our brother and we are going to give him our love and support him in any way we can, and in whatever way he needs.”

During a broadcast teeing up the 2025 season on Tuesday, TSN dedicated its coverage this year to Chase’s memory.

TSN plans to flesh out the panel by rotating in active players, though it doesn’t appear as though this will happen every week. Players will generally make panel appearances during bye weeks, though there may also be opportunities for in-studio appearances when players are in town to play the Argonauts or Tiger-Cats.

Friday Night Football, a longtime network staple, will have a brand new presentation featuring fresh animations, graphics, and music. One source called the scope of the production “bigger.”

The play-by-play personnel at the network has remained unchanged for 2025, featuring Rod Smith, Dustin Nielson, Marshall Ferguson, and occasionally Farhan Lalji. Colour commentary will be performed by Glen Suitor, Duane Forde, and LaPolice."

Honestly the main selling point of the CFL are the timing rules of the final 3 minutes.  And arguably the most boring part of any NFL game when a team with a one score lead can just bleed the clock un

Those draft prospects are tough to get excited about when you immediately have to ask, how many of these guys are getting NFL shots?

Sadly, I think we might be in the running for a high draft pick.

I hear we plan to trade down, our 1st for 8 8th rounders which we will spend assembling the greatest team of ST aces to ever grace a CFL roster.

Dru Brown is out this week.

said it before, say it again, I hate seeing young gun QBs get hurt.  League needs those guys on the field so bad, I don't care who they play for.

(no disrespect on the Bomber who hurt him -- was it Vaughters?  It was a clean football play.  Just stupid bad luck.)

Vaughters sort of belly-flopped on Brown after Brown was down, but that did not seem to have affected the ankle that was damaged. Weird.

Was non-contact on a scramble.

Is it bad luck or a guy who tried to make a play way outside of his athletic ability? Brown looks slow as molasses trying to evade the rush whenever he's flushed out of the pocket. Now, he's a walking injury. He doesn't do Bob Dyce any favours for his remaining enure as a head coach or help his team by constantly being injured. He seems to put himself into more trouble by trying to make a play with his legs rather than taking a sack. I'm thinking Brown just may not have the physical toughness to play at the pro level.

I see we're back to the No Quarterbacks worth drafting. How 2018 of the CFL Scouting Bureau for that.

Are there any this year that would crack the top 20?  There were only 6 Canadian QB's playing D1 ball last year & we had guys like Kurtis Rourke who (probably thanks to his brother) we had been hearing about for a couple years before he was draft eligible.  2 of those 6 QB's (Callum Wither & Drew Viotto) are coming back up north to play this season but they haven't seen much playing time so no idea what they could turn out to be yet.  Otherwise I don't recall hearing about anybody else coming up yet who might be able to make it at the pro level.

This is also only the first edition of the rankings so we'll see what the winter & spring rankings show as they do change - maybe there's a couple QB's right now who are just off the rankings but improve their standing over the course of the season.  The article even states that only 4 of 8 first round picks in the 2025 draft were on the 2024 fall rankings so somewhere along the line, those other 4 shot up (and/or other guys dropped off) the list.

from what I hear its knee...MCL strain....wont require surgery and can play with that ...likely see him in brace when he back on field

I think the injury may have happened a play or two earlier.  That ferocious Jake Thomas pass rush that we all know & love (which Brown was lucky to avoid while scrambling for his life) must have caused some major knee damage that just wasn't immediately apparent.  😂

Old JT...The QB killer

I am certain that quarterbacks live in fear of him.

He has no speed without a knee brace. He'll be as quick as a Gallapagos tortoise with a brace on.

Taylor Elgersma is a Canadian qb who played U Sports. He seems to be doing well in Green Bay pressing an American qb for the #3 spot.

Luke Wilson does not come across like he knows a lot about the CFL.

Hr doesn't but his engagement with fans & other media personalities on social media is the best thing that's happened in years.

If people across Canada will all say "**** you Luke Wilson, I'm buying seasons for my local cfl team" then I will allow it.

I think Wilson shamed the Hamilton Ti Cat fans into selling out their first of 2 games this season... As he just made fun of them incessantly early this season.

Sure, but he comes across as an ass the way he is condescending to guys like Bob Irving and former players.

It's easy to identify attendance issues it's another to offer real advise on how to turn things around.

Eliminating quarterback sneaks or changing the clock rules for the last 3 minutes to a game won't draw new fans to the game.

Sure, he might offend a few of the ‘bluenoses’ with his cocky stride and musky odours. Oh, he'll never be the darling of the so-called ‘City Fathers’ who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards, and talk about ‘What's to be done with this Luke Willson’?
