As long as Rourke is in the discussion, media even mentioning anybody else is futile......don't you know Rourke is CDN, kid Canada, record breaking CDN.......Rourke, Rourke, Rourke, Rourke.........ROURKE.............There are no other Canadians worthy...only ROOOOUUUUURRRRKE

Rourke should be MOP and MOC.

The unfortunately thing for the rest of Canadians in the league is that as long as Rourke plays average at QB he is probably going to suck up all the oxygen in the room for MOC. To his credit, after an incredibly rough 2024 and not the best start of this year he has turned it around, although last game for him was a stinker.

I think whoever finishes stronger between him and Bo will end up MOP. I don't think Arbuckle will have the stats to pull a Bo from last year and insert himself into the discussion... although if Rourke falters a bit the Lions might end up nominating Hatcher. There really isn't anyone compelling from Calgary or Edmonton or Saskatchwan in the west. I think the Bombers MOP is for sure Brady but I can see how the media might pretzel Demski in there. 

 

I just don't want to see Harris win MOP, does not deserve it.

McInnis and Smith both stick out to me. Two WR2 playing with an MOP candidate who have been healthy most of the year.

They have blinders on .....how else could Brady be omitted off of that list....I see that there's a lot of leos on the list.....Is Doman in on who's on and who ain't

I dunno I still like Demski as our pick anyhow... With all due respect to Brady O, who's an absolute manimal for us.

Neither player could crack the roster out of training camp... it just happened that there was an apocalyptic amount of WRs that went down and more or less forced O'Shea's hand and now Mitchell is on the AR and Jones is on the scrap heap. Not outside the realm of possibility that if there was a significant run of injuries at LB Jones would probably still be around. 

TBF there definitely seemed to be a bit more noise about why Mitchell wasn't on the AR as opposed to Jones so who knows what really was going on there.

Keric Wheatfall is what happened. Mitchell is now looking productive in Wheatfalls spot. O'Shea explained this earlier this season that Mitchell was not well suited to what was available position wise. Mitchell has been a true pro and has bided his time. Good on him.

I would be willing to wager that J.Jones did not take the same approach.

Wheatfall had 3 good games to start the year and then did fairly little but kept his spot.

Not really true. He was quite productive through August and then something happened and every receiver on our roster saw their numbers drop off a cliff. Oh yea we had no QB for several weeks. Hard to blame Wheatfall for that. He was on a 1000 yard pace up to that point.

I mean it would be a pretty big stretch to suggest the Bombers were wrong to start Wheatfall over Mitchell because Mitchell had a 60 yd game.

Wheatfall has had his down games, but he's certainly not been invisible since the early part of the season.  In particular, check out his 8/15 game against Ottawa.  He made some hard yards in that game and survived some hellacious contact and I've seen him throw some good blocks too.  Someone here compared him to Chris Brazzel and I don't think that's a fair comparison.

Up to the 9/6 game where Collaros got hurt, he was on a 950ish-yard pace.

Should we start him or Mitchell?  No idea.  But Wheatfall doesn't look like an early season flash in the pan to me.

Would he start on any other team in the CFL? I don't think he'd make the grade in Montreal, BC, Ottawa, or Hamilton.

I think he's just the target of frustration because he's a decent player on a team that made an expensive bet on Dalton Schoen that didn't turn out.

344 yards in 10 games or 34.4 per game and over 50 4 times. So not productive through August.

Honestly, to me Demski, Clercius and Wilson are three keepers at receiver. I like Sterns well enough too. To me that last spot be it Mitchell or Wheatfall needs an upgrade. Could also use another NI WR.

Wheatfall currently has more yards then Brazzell ever had with the Blue in his 3 seasons with us.
