Moving the goal posts is annoying because the Field goal return was one of the more exciting plays 

Might have been gimmicky, but you are capturing 10 yards on each side by move the end zone in 5 and eliminating the 55 yard line, make those 10 yards the field goal return zone, only inbounds during a field goal

Make the field 50 yards if all they want is ads...these are all stupid the goal posts are no longer goal posts there outside of the field of play posts.

The reason I hate moving the goal posts is because they are now on the GOAL LINE. You score when the ball crosses that plane. Move them to the back now you have 2 goal lines. It's just dumb.

15 yard endzone + 8 yards for the setup. So if you made it to the 40 it would be a 63 yard field goal.

30 would be 53 yards.

So somewhere between 30 and 40.

Why does everyone think the NFL wants the CFL to be a development League?

 

They have one, it's call the NCAA. The players moving into the NFL from there are getting paid more there than they would here. It's not worth it to the NFL to have a league where a half dozen players per year MIGHT finally take the leap and become servicable in the NFL

Like the idea of moving the posts, if nothing else for player safety.... The timeclock change isn;t that much of a biggie ....I'll wait for the other changes to actually be put into practice, before passing judgement,,,,At least there was no talk about us being an official feeder league for the nfl...All in all we'll see how it all shakes down and if it really is a positive for our game ...  Jury is out

I think joint agreement or merger with the ufl in the off season is far more likely.

Based on this weekends Bomber game. Vaval missed FG would have gone out the back of the end zone if the Redblacks even attempted it. He caught it deep in the back of the end zone. That's not going to improve the game.

 

It will also reduce the number of last play game winning FG's due to the increased distance needed to try that FG.

they have a developmental league....Div 1 and 2 in the us college system...More guys make it from there than the odd free agent here

nah....grow balls and go for it....cause if you fail....the other team just obtained 15 moe extra yards for a ossible fg themselves

Good coached teams will probably go for it way more often...and yeah likelyhood of TD's in crease...especially when you dont have to basically scheme for corner routes or fades for most part

On flip side we screwed cause we aint well coached and Osh has plums the size of tick tacks and rarely gambles if it more than a yard

Of all the times in history to try and be more American.... elbows up, **** America watch a CANADIAN league, but do we try that? No let's desperately try and be American so maybe Toronto will care (spoiler alert, they won't)

I see your point....but the pro's and cons likely balance out

And really...how many missed FG for a TD do we see a yr...not like its an every game ...multiple times thing

I'm really not happy guys... CFL football is the only league I truly care that much about anymore and now the ***** commissioner says we gotta change everything about it to chase other fans. It's  a slap in the face to all of us who do support this game. We don't matter, others are more important so we're going to make a shittier to try and magically find fans rather than putting in grass roots work to build support.

These rule changes are going to remove several elements that are unique to Canadian football. I'm kind of aghast. 

- Benches on opposite sides is reasonable. 

- I don't like taking away the rouge but I can understand it. Couldn't they keep it for punts but get rid of it for missed FG to skip rewarding failure?

- I am not a fan of moving the goal posts. Bye bye to most field goal returns.

- Changing the field size after the development of relatively new stadiums in 4/9 markets is nuts. It will mean that fans in the end zones and corners will be farther from the action factoring in the 5 yard shrinking of the field and 5 yard shrinking of the end zones. But I do understand shrinking the end zones for consistency with stadiums that can't handle a full 20.

- If they were going to change something, I'd have added a fair catch instead of the 5 yard no yards rule that seems difficult to apply accurately in any case.

never took away the rouge...just the rouge that was not playable....and that I like....

Benches should never...ever have been same side...why some teams went that way is beyond me

the change in field is minimal work...repaint the lines....move the posts.....you gain stadium space....not a big endeavor by any stretch

its a fan sustained league....and may the hardcore fans are aging out...possible new ones know the NFL part...posts....no 55....so we wont be as foriegn

They kept the core basis of the rules and game...save for a few really cosmetic changes, and limiting possible field goal returns....big whoop really

What would people have preferred....keep all as is...Just go 4 downs?....doubt that would have been preferred

I was actually hoping for a reduction to be honest....as I dont watch the game to witness 12...to 15 guys from CIS schools running around chasing kicks...

Will changing the rules make people care? I don't see how. The only way to get asses in seats is to putting time and effort in your community.

I don’t think it’s the changing of the rules. I’m sure it’s not lost on any one of these executives that they are gaining 25 yards of space at field level - how do they use that? Field level patios? Influencer bullshit?

That's not true. I'm now in the endzone with my season tickets (upper deck 211), that I'm locked in to due to the GC ticket purchase. People who were in the endzone/goal line in the upper deck will now be behind or even deeper into it. Are we going to see a discount for this? 

The vast majority of stadiums got worse sight lines due to this. They talk about about field level seats, but those are horse **** for watching the game. 

I can live with most of the changes...but the shorter field and posts to the back are idiotic imo. Nevermind the cost the the pros, amateur ball is going to take a beating for this.

The 100 yards field is stupid imo.

None of this is going to draw in new fans.

I think your completely wrong just yesterday I was talking to some nfl fans and they all said if all these changes occurred theyd watch the cfl... leagues done in 2028.

I believe Stewart Johnson did mention the possibility of using the extra space for premium seating. Patio-type stuff seems likely.
