Best be ready to play on Thursday.  BC is physical from the opening kickoff and even in this game through a 4th quarter vs an opponent clearly done.  Bombers will need an effort that we haven’t seen y

OK, so have done a year-by-year check of the game scores from 1958 onward from the cfl.ca site (that’s as far back as they go) and if they are accurate, this is what I can tell you: 1958 - Ottawa

Chris Jones is destroying the Elks organization, he has no clue how to run a team let alone be a HC.

I don't get why Corny is still in the game?

That incomplete pass call on the fumble was nonsense. He clearly caught it...tried to transfer it and dropped it.

There has been come bizarre reffing this week. Especially some brazen non-calls

How did we give up 14 to the Elks last week ??

Chris Jones has absolutely destroyed Taylor Cornelius.

I have no idea how, but the Elks O might be worse than the Riders.

I spotted Ivey helping Cornelius up off the ground, thought he was still on the PR didn't even realize the Bombers cut him.

We certainly should be motivated. After all, according to Glenn Suitor this Lions D is the best defense of all time & we'll have have no chance.

Different Ivey

The Bombers have to bring their A game but if they do I like their chances.

BC’s O is pretty pedestrian at times, but their D is legit. Probably the best in the league. The OL can’t go to sleep like last time.

I don't think I've ever seen a HC continue to do so many things that just don't work. Jones?? I mean, like WTF, this guy...???

No they can't.

@TrueBlue4ever are you able to research this? I would also be curious to know and you are the man for weird statistics / CFL history.

Totally understandable if you can't...

I’ll see what I can dig up. I don’t recall a team getting two shut outs or being shut out twice in the same season. I would say fairly confidently that I wouldn’t imagine a team shutting out the same team twice in one season before. But I’ll do a dive into the history books and see what I can  find (bet I’ll find more info in the NFL history books).

I will say that before the first shutout against Edmonton, BC had not registered a shutout since 1977, and Edmonton had not been shut out since 1976. And when the Bombers shut out BC in 2021, it was BC’s first time being shut out in over 50 years. So even one shut out a year seems pretty rare.

Yeah, simply shutting out an opponent in the CFL is so rare because there are just so many ways to score. That and even when a game is clearly in hand, usually the team up a bunch lets their foot off the gas, allowing for some sympathy points.

You would think Jones would resign at least the coaching part if not out right everything ...but I guess like George Costanza he gets all his money if he gets fired.

Last game: 6 points and gave up 7 sacks.

Thats more sacks than points...

I think the Bomber players & coaches heard Glenn Suitor slobbering over the Lions defense & Dane Evans. If that doesn't get them motivated then nothing will.

Quite the accomplishment for the Lions shutting out the same team twice in the same season. A team that may be the worst team to ever play in the history of the CFL.

Will Edmonton get shut out yet again by BC?  Has any team had 2 shut out losses in the CFL ever?

@Stats Junkie couldn't probably tell you.

So from the CFL record book:

Most shutouts in a season:

4 - Saskatchewan (1938), Winnipeg (1941)

Since 1958,  3 - Calgary (1967)

Calgary was also the last team to register two shoutouts in a season, in 1970

BC defence is good... By it they also been injury free all yr...only team that lucky...we shall see how season goes but they have weaknesses like others

If we play basically even close to what we generally do...we should have no issues there...their offence even with the VAJ is all or nothing...and with Evans be more nothing..dude is fragile and we are in his head from 2 seasons of pummelings...

We are sneakily getting healthy...had a few good servings of humble pie...and fresh off a reflective bye...I think we right where we wanna be...media and some fans of opposition have written us off...that's perfect in my opinion

Cannot find a record for most times being shut out in a season, so I am left to speculate that twice is now the record. I will continue to look into this.

BTW the NFL record is much more, if you consider the early years of the 1920’s. Akron has 13 consecutive shutouts, and Rochester was shut out 8 straight times. Strangely the NFL record book does not offer a “modern-day” section, but the best I can tell is that the 1976 Pittsburgh Steelers hold the modern day record with 5 shutouts in one season, including 3 in a row.  Baltimore’s 2000 team had 4 shutouts, the the 1985 Chicago Bears had 2 on consecutive weeks in the regular season, and became the first NFL team ever to post consecutive shutouts in the playoffs

And the Oakland Raiders were shut out in 3 consecutive games in 1981
