"Nichols is having a down year"

Ya.... cause nobody targets him.

Did you properly read my post before making assumptions that directly contradict what I had stated?

Geez Louise 🙄

Perhaps, but he's been having a down year compared to his usual standards. You can see him making tackles every game now, whereas in the past few years, he was ghost because the play rarely went in his direction.

Erroneous! Nichols has always made tackles. Nature of Ritchie halls defense. Nichols just doesn't get the glory stats to win something like modp because of how he plays.

He hasn't lived up to the reputation of being a shutdown corner this year, he's been beaten more frequently than past seasons. It's possible that it's due to the support around him. It's been pretty easy to see that he's been receiving considerably more camera time on TSN this year.

Like I said he used to be almost invisible in television coverage.

Well for one...he's not a corner

🙄 you know what I mean. He's not a shut down anything this year, still good but he's regressed, as the whole defense has.

According to cfl.ca

Nichols made 46 tackles in 2022 (12 games)

46 again in 2022 (15 games)

Through 15 games this year, he’s made 36.

Number of passes defended? And how many completions allowed?

Yeah...was gonna say he's not regressed in the least...still best HB in league bar none

League leader most likely....u have to also consider many games we were up a buttload and teams abandoned the run as they played catch-up and we also ran a lot of prevent soft coverage allowing garbage stats

Yeah number of passing plays against our D would be wayyy up there.
The point is, he’s still dominant. Best in the league for sure.

Yes I don't think DB's get enough credit for this. When they clamp down, the ball is nowhere near them.

Really too bad about Agudosi. Had high hopes for him on this team. On a side note, he was one of the players that participated in hosting local cruncher players (kids u10) at the stadium and ran them through drills. My boy loved it and said Agudosi was awesome! Best of luck to him.

What a stupid ass group to cut.
Why did schmitz stay soo long? wtf with cutting burtenshaw deng swaray and Agudosi?
Machino and Schmekel stay? Over those guys?
Our roster management is cancer, and the culture of the team is no longer enough to over come it.

I called it on Agudosi.

Hands down would’ve been more valuable as a di on teams play alone than Parker was or Jackson entirely.  We don’t need an imp wr, and it doesn’t make sense to have a 30 yo rookie back up on the pr, but his tool kit on teams could’ve over come that. And if that’s the case cut him 10 weeks ago.

I'm thinking 8 other teams just received some options.

I’ve had this sentiment about their use of the PR all year. It’s baffling.
I’m not sure what or why, but something stinks in the front office.

There's gotta be a reason for it that is more logical than "the people in charge are all morons!" because we know that's the opposite of what's going on.

Surprised about Abu DS as he looked to have promise.

Not surprised about Agudosi really. He didn't look that good other than his first game. He high pointed a ball exactly one time in a game.

The rest are meh.

PRs shrink for all teams this time of year right?

Morons? Nah

Delusional? Possibly

Complacent? 100 percent

I feel like now is the time to be running your playoff roster. If this is it, we could be 1 and done also

We haven't developed a single viable backup for anyone on defense.

If a DB goes down - Lawrence I guess?

If a Linebacker goes down... *shrug*

God help us if another D-lineman goes down.

How the hell did we go from next man up to a bare cupboard so quickly?

some head shakers....not surprising tho....I wouldn't say morons per say....Just a HC who has and plays favorites at the expense of guys who could really help, ...and it's not a good thing/look

People can use excuses that "they know more"..."must be a reason".....only agree with the must be a reason, and it's not a beneficial one to the team in long haul

Given the way we've used our PR and recent additions .. he'll never see the active roster and be released at the end of the year.

Made this comment (about Deng) shortly after he  was signed.  I was wrong .. thought he'd at least last until the end of the year.

Our PR has been a joke and mess all yr...thank god we still have Machino and Schmeckle....2 guys that will never ever....or should i say never ever should see the roster

Same. The tc cuts too.

Probably this. Tbh idc if it’s ignorance apathy stupidity complacency or w/e else. Figure out why the tire went flat after you fix it, and prevent it from re occurring. But first just fix it.

Pr expands. At the end of the season the guys on the pr revert to free agency.

If we assume every player cut in the last two years is indeed worse than the players we’ve kept, by means of character or who knows what, we are still left with a fundamentally flawed roster with no nose tackle, a group of small undersized dts where one Canadian starter is beyond done, no depth guys who can cover WRs, and no run stoppers. We don’t even have an extra ni teams guy, or holder. We still have an American fb who can’t cover catch run or play d. We have no guys to plug in if an imp db goes down, if an imp wr or Brady goes down we rely on gmc and guys who haven’t played. If Sergio gets hurt we have no options.
We didn’t sign any nfl guys, or make any trades to address it either.

If I had to guess, I’d say we suffer from a disconnect between what mos views as roster needs and what walters views as roster needs. mos doesn’t give af about rookies once the season begins. Guys aren’t drawing in unless we have no option. He over values intangibles over every thing else. I think he’d rather lose with guys he likes than win with guys he doesn’t.

Schmuckle alone disproves the notion that we are cutting guys who don’t belong.
