It’s the day many were hoping would never arrive. Bob Irving’s final broadcast is Dec 5.

My Bob memory is a little more personal. My father had taken me to Bomber games since 1981 at Canadinns stadium, and because of a few rowdy swearing fans in our early season ticket years there we took

Plot thickens: Murray McCormack interviewed Taylor in the Regina Leader Post today. Taylor indicated he re-signed to focus on sports betting, which is his passion. Re the CJOB job, he said, “I should look into that.”

Interesting. DT, much like Hustler are very active in online sports betting. Curious as to what kind of careers there are in that space?

On SportsCage DT announces that it was time to go. He has been there 3 years.

Say no more, we all understand.

Ya I was surprised that he was leaving just to leave. I assumed he had another gig lined up. Good for him. Get that stink of fhim as soon as possible.

He probably tried it out hoping for stability (as much as you can get in the media world), but wasn’t happy with it.

It's the future for most of these broadcasters and will be a detriment to broadcasting in general.

FWIW the posting on CORUS’ website for Bob’s job has been taken down. And it was only put out on Feb. 11. Could mean many things, including the fact that they’ve given it to Taylor.

Rod Black comes home. Maybe CJOB waits till April 1st to make the announcement. As heads explode.

I'll say one thing if he was hired, the listener would have no idea what yard line, down or distance the teams would be on. And half the broadcast would be about unimpotant things like how he misses Wet n Wild & the River Rouge.

Don't we all miss the River Rouge?

Sounds like a good choice to me.

For me it was a toss up between Derek Taylor and Darren Bauming.

I really liked Derek's "The Details" back when he was on TSN, so I hope that he brings some of that with him to Play-by-Play.

hmmmm...Interesting.....I guess RF.COM all hate him now hahahah

They seem mostly congradulatory, but even before this, there was mixed reviews about his PxP, so I'lll have to wait and see which camp I fall into.

Just going to be weird not hearing Bob.

that's a no contest.

I'm not what you'd call outright EXCITED about the DT hire......but.....it's something. "...Ehhhh....he seems to know the kids names...." is the Simpsons quote I'd use here.  I'm not as excited for the first pre-game show of the season, but I'm open minded and willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. See if we can get the Riders stink off him.
