With Tyrell coming off the roster, you have to expect the Bombers will be keeping that starting american (Hardrick) on the offensive side of the ball. So I see McKnight getting some plays tonight.

We are starting 2 Canadian receivers (Demski and Woli) but McKnight will be in the lineup as the backup receiver. You don't want to go the game without one. 
If an American receiver goes down he will sub in.
If any of Demski or Woli goes down, we go 4-Americans.

cant replace an NI with a DI. If one goes down then we see a lot of Hback and TE heavy run sets. Probably a lot of MIller at Hback moving around blocking and more harris in the flats.

But if we are starting more than the minimum number of Canadians we get an American on the roster as a backup who isn't a DI correct?

I believe you can if you are starting 8 Canadians. which we are 4OL, 2WR, 1RB and 1DT.

Previously you got an extra DI, it wasnt an american none counter. This year its different.

You can as long as there are still 7 cnd starters. Bombers start 8. They'll be fine if one goes down and an import steps in.

The rule book has no provisions for allowing a DI to replace an extra NI. Previously starting an extra NI gave you an extra DI.

If a team is using its full complement of international players, it shall, prior to the game, designate four international players as special teams players, who shall be permitted to enter the game at another position, only on the understanding that another international player on that side of the ball is required to leave the game for that play. Such player may enter the game on an unrestricted basis, only if another international player is removed for the balance of the game.

If a designated international participates in the game illegally:

PENALTY: L25 PLS DR or L25 PBD or option.

Rule has always been the same.  Don’t get too hung up on the depth chart.  The only players they declare are the DI’s and QB’s.

Yes we will have one American “backup” who is not a DI who can sub in for anyone because we’ll have up to 7 Canadians on O most of the time when we are only required 6.

Isn't that regarding the replacement of one of the starting 7. We start 8...that 8th player can be replaced by an International.

this rule is pertaining to the four DI. read it again.

I think it has more to do with the whole rule itself, how it's implemented and how it changes so frequently. 

I went cross-eyed trying to understand the DI rules in this thread..........

For L’ks sake, these rules are L’king confusing!

The real question is what is the signal for Illegal Participation by a Designated International and has it ever actually been called.
