2020 CFL Draft

Wikipedia has the best explanation:

Beginning in 2019, the CFL announced the two teams with the highest waiver priority will each get to make one Territorial Draft Pick (to be used to select a player born within their territorial limits at the end of the second round). The two teams that qualified for the 2019 Draft were Montreal and Toronto and these picks were made with the 17th and 18th overall picks.

This was the first time since 1984 that the league’s draft will feature territorial selections. From 1972 to 1982, each club had the right to pre-select two players from its region who would be exempted from the draft. That limit was reduced to one Draft exemption selection in 1983 and 1984, and then the practice was terminated altogether prior to the 1985 Canadian Draft.

Do you know if they pre-select these players prior to the draft?  Or do they have to pick from the players in their territory that remain available at that point?

Hallet sounds like a Mike O'Shea guy.

Quote

“I’m definitely a gritty player. I really like hitting a lot. I really enjoy the game, and like studying film, studying opponents and getting to know their tendencies. It’s like a big chess game, but there’s a physical aspect to it.

“I’m pretty fast and it’s a bigger field so I think at free safety I can cover a lot of ground and make big hits when I need to.”

I thought they would pick Claypool there :D

O'leary-Orange is the same size and apparently runs faster. He ran a 4.40 at Nevada and Claypool only ran 4.42 at the NFL combine. I'm big excited.

Taking an NFL talent in the 4th round. Worth the risk.

Welcome to our board.......same was said about a guy we took a couple years ago. So, again, we all hope for the best, but it remains to be seen.

Of course, pretty much every draft pick is a gamble to varying degrees. Based on his measurables he is an NFL athlete.
