GAME 6 | WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS (5-0) at HAMILTON TIGER-CATS (4-1)
THE 4-1-1
Kickoff: 6 p.m. CT Friday, Tim Hortons Field, Hamilton
TV: TSN, RDS, ESPN+
Radio: 680 CJOB
Vegas line: The Ticats are favoured by two points.
Home/Road: The Bombers are 2-0 on the road this year with wins in Vancouver and Ottawa. Winnipeg is 4-1 in its last five road games, the lone blemish a loss to Edmonton in the 2018 regular season finale in which a number of the team’s starters did not play or had limited reps. Hamilton, meanwhile, is a perfect 3-0 at home this season.
Recent history: The Bombers 5-0 start is the third best in franchise history. The 1960 squad opened with 10 consecutive victories en route to a 14-2 record while the 1939 Bombers rocketed to an 8-0 start, finished the regular season 10-2 and then defeated Ottawa to win the second of the franchise’s 10 Grey Cup championships. The Ticats, meanwhile, have opened with a 4-1 record in their first five games for the first time in 21 seasons.
Series: The Bombers are 64-55-0 all-time vs. Hamilton and 27-32-0 at Ivor Wynne Stadium/Tim Hortons Field.

  • I've seen the Bombers play some awful football over the years, so if they wanna blow out everyone the rest of the year, they can go right ahead. Somehow, I'll find a way to manage............

  • Stop whining about blowout victories. Immediately.

Nichols played a lousy game as he himself admitted on the post game. Lapo called a poor game. Turnovers killed us. Those two fumbles on returns cost us 6 points. Oline did not have a great game. Our D

Ok. Still not enough.

And there's no way you could know we were gonna have injuries to the receiving corps. Plus he doesn't play STs so there was no way he was gonna dress. I just despise the stupid revisionist history or 20/20 hindsight oelr whatever you want to call it.

Not arguing that he hasn’t been. Are you saying he hasn’t looked slower than years past? That’s what we’re discussing.

I don't see it, no.

Bad 1st half by D? They gave up 1 TD the entire game. Ok 2 but we both know the 2nd was a pick 6. D was good... The O tho.. The lack of Harris in to the wind was mind boggling. Play calls were crap.. The guy throwing the ball was the biggest problem tho. 3 picks.

They got lucky Masoli was hurt. If not maybe the game was over by halftime

I think they found their wheels on the 3rd half. but still sloppy at times.

It's absurd to look with hindsight and say we should have started Matthews. Completely ridiculous to say that.

No - he should have been on the active roster over Walker - we have enough return guys in Whitehead, Demski, etc...

And its not absurb if he is indeed healthy.

This is a byproduct of spotting your opponent a 14-point lead early on.

Looked old and slow after the catch a few times this year, I thought.

I think getting a screen pass with no blocking is tough.

Looking at the stat sheet...Willie Jefferson isn't even on it. Says a lot.

He was just stabbed tho and it is pretty absurd... In what world does Matthews make a difference tonight when the QB loses his accuracy.

Defense did all we could ask of them tonight. Unless you're expecting nonstop turnovers, holding the Cats to FGs after we kept giving them great field position is as good as it gets.

Did Wolitarsky come back to the game?

He made plays though

Simple as.. Our QB had his shittiest game since the Banjo Bowl.

3 picks including basically a pick 6. Sack on final play.. Just a poor overall performance by Nichols and the O.

Seems like Lapo overthunk things like he does time to time.

injury front...

Adams, Gaitor & Wolitarsky ?

OL was garbage

Certainly can't handle good D-lines, poor against the Esks. and poor against the TiCats.

Good thing we have the Argos next week.

Believe me, no one is happy with Nichols tonight.

We lost our two wide receivers and had zero deep threat... that world ha

If he's injured that makes sense, but if he's a healthy scratch that was a mistake.  Field your best roster.

I'm not sure that this isn't on Lapo a bit...  almost no playaction in that second half - still some concern that the new 'slim and mobile' Nichols has changed our game planning - hopefully they go back to misdirection

Sure. But this is all because 2 guys got hurt.

Last week some folks were cutting Matthews on these boards. Lets not forget.

No one in their right mind was cutting Matthews ha...

But you could see this coming - Walker is just another average receiver/returner like we've always recruited... and we always get carried away with them

Overthinking...  thats an achilles heel on this team for sure

Maybe time to give Hardrick a game off to heal up. He looked bad tonight.

That final play, his man sacked Nichols, and Hardrick just walked off field. I'm a fan of the man, but what was that?
