Needs for next year

Assuming we re-sign our key FAs (Bighill, O-line, Harris), what do you see as our biggest needs for improvement next year? Two of the biggest for me are:

- Big time slotback that can go up and get it. Adams is a good weapon at WR but we need someone that can play inside. Love Dressler, but he's getting up there in age and shouldn't be the go to guy anymore.

- Return game - blocking and returner. Nelson looks like a keeper but I don't know what's up with our blocking. No one has had a chance back there.

If the Riders make no other changes at QB.....they gonna love him again.  Of course they might get Durant, without the 70K baggage.......

There is no love between Durant and Jones, don't see that happening.  I don't know what we will do, but don't think it will be that.

Yup, this quarterbacking thing can be a Rubik cube......believe me we know

LOL.  I'll stick with rum. It numbs the pain better.

We are all set with Drew Tate.  LOL

Damn... Thanks for that- now my office mates think I am insane, laughing too hard at that one.

At least the Riders can trade Bridge for some national starters.

If they can convince him to switch to receiver... that would improve their Canadian depth...

The guy need to buy that ball machine off Kamu Peterson and start running routes.

Haven’t heard this mentioned. But if Ricky Ray wants to keep play and is available should we be taking a look at that?

If Ricky Ray is going to play another season and it isn't for the Argos...  I'd imagine he would go to Montreal for starter money...

He is a free agent

That will limit his trade value.

Reed will trade for a first rounder, sign an extension, big upfront signing bonus and cut him by Canada Day.

We will sign him as a receiver.........need a novelty signing to keep up with the Joneses.......

Trade a near rookie for an establish veteran?  I would expect that you'll be wanting a couple of draft picks and a starting Canadian too?

I think you missed the joke.

Streveler will be a Bomber next year and for years to come, just get him some receivers for the love of god Walters.

And you know what - I’m quite sure they knew this. Unfortunately their solution was to sign Adarius Bowman.

But even if Bowman had worked out, that would have made the total, one. One receiver in 5 years. Isn't that just weird? Look at the top teams in the league. They seem to find great receivers all the time. I just don't understand what happens where we're concerned. Are we not offering enough money? Is it just not a priority for some reason?

Maybe it's more than a coincidence that those teams have (or have had) great QB's.  Who did Toronto find at receiver?  Montreal?  Sask?  BC?

Really it's Calgary, Edmonton and Hamilton who you're talking about.

I think Lapo does a poor job coaching receivers too.

Not on their team now but Toronto did originally bring in Dionte Spencer and Gurley, Elliott, Hazelton all started there and have had some success.

BC: Burnham, Arcenaux, Johnson

In the last 5 years I'd argue that just about every team in the league has done better at finding receivers than we have. My question remains, why? The 3 teams you mentioned, yes certainly, but why? What are they doing that we aren't? Someone must have some insight into this. It is glaringly obvious to me that something isn't working right or is broken and hasn't been fixed in 5 years. That needs to change, IMO.

Is it possible that receivers don't want to come here because of a) Lapo and his style of offense, and/or b) O'shea and his unwillingness to play players like Petermann, Simonise, Thompkins, and Washington yet players like Lankford play repeatedly despite his lack of performance, and/or c) Matt Nichols and his apparent struggles to get the ball into the hands of his receivers, especially beyond 20 yards? Just asking.

Walters may be good, but when did he become deified?

I was thinking if he’s going to play another season he might as well play for a good team with a good running game.  If he’s willing to go to Montreal he might as well donate his brain to CTE research now.
