It's been approved, already. Too bad for Oakland. Manfred should have pushed back on the entitled nepo baby.

Well I guess they couldn't get the government to kick in money on a new ball park and got tired of playing in that rat infested dump, Vegas is going to help build and nice park on the strip to go with T Mobile and Allegiant. I would also say that a basketball team is probably around the corner but can a destination city support all 4 leagues.

The ****bag owner took so much out of that team and depleted it.

Lets see what happens in Jacksonville where their football team is trying for public money and the public has said no.

Khan has wanted to move the team to London since he bought them. I'm not sure the NFL would allow it. They'll get their 4-team NFL expansion and make Khan move the team elsewhere.

I can't even imagine what the expansion fee would be but it would probably be in the billions

Historic expansion fees:

Team(s)
Franchise Fee
First Season
Houston Texans
$700 million
2002
Carolina Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars
$140 million
1995
Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers
$16 million
1976
Cincinnati Bengals (AFL)
$7.5-$8 million
1968
New Orleans Saints
$8.5 million
1967
Atlanta Falcons
$8.5 million
1966
Miami Dolphins (AFL)
$7.5 million
1966
Minnesota Vikings
$1 million
1961
Dallas Cowboys
$1 million
1960
Original members of the AFL
$25,000
1960
Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Pirates*
$2,500
1933
New York Giants
$500
1925
Original members of the NFL**
$100^
1920

Based purely on inflation from 2002 to now, that would be $1.2B, however the Texans are now valued at $4.7B.   So would an ask be around $5B?

* Changed nickname to Steelers in 1940.
** NFL was known as the American Professional Football Association for its first two seasons.

^ According to accounts, this membership fee was never paid by the teams.

Raiders paid ~$350M to move to Vegas.

The Rams and Chargers were charged $650M each to move to LA.

And, keep in mind the NFL does not allow corporate ownership. You need to have an owner (team of owners) with deep pockets and access to crazy financing.

There's good cheap, TB and really bad cheap, A's not funny but Oakland lost football and baseball teams to Vegas.

Not surprised,  Oakland is a dump and Vegas is still on the rise.    Plus Vegas with a never ending amount of tourists dollars it makes it very desirable to have a team in Vegas.

Some crazy numbers circling around Ohtani, he is a great one of a kind player but it really is buyer beware with him for the upcoming season.

It is a crazy number, but a team like the Blue Jays and their own Rogers will easily make that money back in all the additional revenue they can generate.

Good luck Toronto paying $5B for a franchise fee. The NFL doesn't allow companies or corporations to own a team so MLSE would be out. The team would need a very wealthy owner. That's just for expansion fees. then another $2-3B for a tadium. Then another half billion for offices & practice facilities. Oh, did I mention that all this is in American funds??? So, $8.5 billion US  works out to $11.94 B Canadian at today's rates.

Cheaper to relocate the Bills.
