Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)

Training camp is over .... adjustments have been made  and its time for the opening kickoff

Anybody change their minds on how preseason changed their expectations for this year .... Montreal thrashing Ottawa changed mine .... cutting Willy raise my hopes for the Argos .... Edmonton looks stronger than I first thought and Regina even worse

For the first time in years I am forecasting Winnipeg finishes first in the league  .. just an optimistic hunch .... I forecast these final standings:

Winnipeg

Calgary

Vancouver

Edmonton

Ottawa

Montreal

Toronto

Hamilton

Regina

  • Well, there you go.  It seemed to me that it’s been perceived as being stale and the interest level was tapering off. It takes all week to gather, edit and format that topic and I thought I’d giv

Often...? Yeah, one of the league's top offensive units that's gone cold in recent weeks due to injury vs. a defensive unit that's been one of the worst in the league in several categories for the las

he is supposed to help us in our MLB spot

Mulumba has nothing to do with the MLB spot, he's a rush end.

Perhaps he means by being/using another Canadian starter, we could use an import at MLB

Edited by Mr Dee

Nope I was thinking he was an MLB but I wasn't sure. Rush end makes it more difficult to fit him on the team specially since it seems to be our strength and we don't know if he is better than our current talent. Though it could allow us to go import in another spot.

Deon Lacey cut by Miami.

He will be a good add if he comes back to the CFL.

Only if he brings Cagney with him.

Derel Walker also cut...

And - salary cap spreadsheets opened across the CFL...

Chris Matthews cut now too. It would be great to bring him and Mulumba in.

Walters gonna be working the phones to agents all over, I'm sure...

Bighill cut. Lots of these guys are PR candidates tho.. Bighill is a surprise.. Guy was a beast in preseason.. Guess all they saw was his lack of height... Hopefully someone picks him up cuz he deserves a chance.

Chris Matthews need to lose weight though. He's current weight is 240+ , I believe. He was at 220+ when he played with the Bombers.

Can't see Matthews coming back to cfl at age 29

He's 27, and why not if the NFL isn't on the table?

I don't think Matthews is done with the NFL but if we could get him to sign here, I would do it in a second.  He would dominate, IMO.

Trestman would bring him in a second

somebody posted a comment by saints head coach about Bighill..... said he was very good, but too short.  So, seems you're right.

Not many former CFL players make headway in the NFL.  Cameron Wake, Phillip Hunt, Jerell Freeman, Sellers, Ryan, kicker from Toronto, Merv Fernandez, Milt, Manitoba guy from Brandon, (D lineman), Flutie. Moon. Garcia.  Arlan(d?) Bruce played a few years with San Fran. Juran. I guess Kyries Hebert.

edit.... D back from Calgary that played on seattle superbowl winner. The guy that could not cover Milt unless he grabbed him.

edit mack herron.

probably others over the years, but not a lot of them.

Muamaba hasn't been overwhelming since he returned from the NFL. Not saying he's not good, but Singleton seems to be quite a bit better right now.

If they bring someone in, I'd like to see a defensive back, to shore up the weak side of the D backield, that gets picked on.

I do think Walker has a lot of potential and Fogg is great depth because he is a great punt returner and a decent HB. Alexander does have potential as well. I wonder if the problem is that we have to rooks on one side. We just need to be patient there. I think Walker could be a great db in this league

In my opinion the biggest problem is LBer, and having Jake and Hurl in the middle of the field is bad news. Maybe if we had Mulumba we could start 2 NI DE's and have Cory Johnson in the middle.

Would love to sign Bo Lokombo for a future MAC as well

Pascal Locard to start in Edmonton...

With all the injuries in Edmonton, I would expect the Esks to dip heavily into the recent NFL cuts. They have both the need and the cap room.

Lacey picked up by the Bills

The #Bombers have released Canadian LB Frank Renaud

Possible roster move as a precursor to something else....?

Lordy, I hope so.

An injection of NFL cuts may be coming somewhat soon.

I'm hearing that we might have an injection of NFL cuts... coming soon (somewhat).
