I'm still seething over our last pathetic pre season showing the last year Burke was coached - 3 points in two games and two blowout losses set the tone for the rest of the year. 
This shows what stability in both the front office and on the sidelines (HC) can do. It's only one game but we looked like a team, even the backups, and the backups to the backups, seemed to be playing with a purpose. 
The win inofitself means absolutely nothing of course - but how we play in these games does. Bombers look like they are set to make some noise this year. With all the coaching changes in the west, you'd think we'd have an advantage to start the season with. I guess we'll see.

I don't care what Walters has to say. I already know he talks the talk. He just can't walk the walk.
If you know the problems, then fix them. Hell, you should have done that two years ago when you claimed "the right person is in the job now."

Walters sounded the same as he did last year. Smart, intelligent, knowledgeable at what needs to be done. Last season he seemed focused on winning & improving the team to be a playoff contender... But it didn't happen.He's sounding very much this season like he did last year at this time so, we'll see what this off season brings in an OC & staff as well as FA's. The pressure on these guys to win next season is going to astronomical. They have just one more season to build a winner as well as a playoff spot. If they can't pull it off they're gone. 
I'm not as optimistic about this team for next year as I was going into this season. I thought our OL would be among the best with the signings of Brayant & Picard. I thought our DL would be better & other than Westerman it was dreadful. O'Shea & Walters kept telling us last off season that our backup qb position was solid with Brohm & Marve & I believed them. Look what happened. I even thought MOS would do much better as a head coach... Well...
I honestly thought the Bombers were going to be a legitimate playoff contender this season. I bought in & this is why I'm so angry about the season & feel like I was given a bunch of malarkey by Walters & O'Shea. Yes, Walters sounds like a guy who knows what he's doing but we'll see. Actions speak louder than words. I won't be as optimistic going into 2016. I'll have a wait & see attitude now. I certainly won't even consider this team a playoff contender. Like Roger Daltry of The Who sang, "We won't get fooled again". 

That was usually the kind of game where people on a bad team, are exerting themselves mightily......to secure a position for jobs, next year.
 
Going past about 6-7 guys.....ya could of fooled me.   Appropriate finish to a disastrous year.   0 TDs (yet again) and 11 points in a CFL game, will never cut it and some of the tackling on D was a joke, indeed....
 
Starting next year, nobody should be safe on this team, period.  That applies to upstairs, as well.
 
I know people all around the league.......and most of them look upon the Bombers as either a figure of fun.... or an object of pity.   Even the gin does not erase the metaphoric stench.....

Yes, one can put out legit and sensible reasons for not having yet another purge.   But frankly, I'm just so tired, of this bull....and the lame excuses and rationalizations for why this team.... can't get it done under any circumstances.  

Mike Kelly was right about us the same way that I'm right when I say that Bomber fans need air or they'll die.  All he was doing was stating the obvious about any team's fan base.  Here's a rule of thumb I've used for a while now and it's never steered me wrong;  when looking for insightful thoughts, the words of Mike Kelly aren't

You can go on and on with all the theatrics but when the Bombers inevitably win some day you'll be smiling.

Yep - officially done. I agree it was pretty much done though not by Labour Day, it was done when Willy broke his leg. I knew then, once I heard and researched the injury it was pretty obvious he wasn't coming back (a more severe version could have literally rendered him a cripple never mind playing football again). 
 
Next year - same as the last 25 boys. Can't recruit our own QB = another year of misery - or maybe, maybe, a decent year, maybe two - but no recruit means once Willy is gone for good - back from mediocrity (which even then in this minor league can get you to a Grey Cup) to utter crap again. 
 
But I think Walters is gone. Where there's smoke, there's fire. What's he going to say during the season while he's still employed "Yes, I"m the GM of the Wpg Blue Bombers but that directorship in Guelph - which I can have as long as I want - sure looks sweet, I'll probably go there when the season is done". Don't worry about Walters folks, he's gone. It wouldn't surprise me in the least to see him hired there before the Grey Cup is played in Winnipeg (wouldn't that be a howdy do LMAO).
 
Cruddy franchise, great stadium, and the best fans (sorry Sk fans but don't recall Wpg ever having to hold a freaking telethon to save their team).
 
rebusrankin - you keep renewing your season tickets because you are true blue fan of the bombers. I admire and congratulate you. For your sake, and others of your ilk - I wish you nothing but the best. My Mom passed away last year - I kept cheering for the Bombers because of her (when the bombers won it made her happy). Now that she's moved on, it just doesn't matter. Time for me to move on. I'll always have soft spot but since the Oilers are my hockey team now, I'm golng to make the Eskimos my football team. Most likely will take a year or two to get fully emotionally involved with the team, but at least it is a team I can get behind.
 
To all the folks here - pleasure reading all your posts. I hope I was able to contribute a little bit but lots of great, knowledgeable fans here. The Winnipeg Football club doesn't deserve you, and you all deserve a lot better. And 'when' (not if - it will happen) the Bombers become a relevant team again - I'll be happy for all of you.

GBILL - I'll say it again (not that you'll take heed to my comments). I'm an ESKIMO season ticket holder. I've WATCHED Nichols a lot longer than you have. I know what he's all about. I haven't / won't say anything because most people here don't listen to me anyway. All I'll say is this (again) - Mr. Nichols is far far better than any QB we have in Wpg not named Drew Willy and gives us the best chance to win. This is NOT a complement to Nichols, this is a slap in the face to the Wpg Blue Bomber organisation who haven't recruited and developed their OWN QB in 3 decades.
 
There's a reason why Nichols was traded in mid season to the Bombers for a 7th round pick. I still think it's a great trade for Wpg. I still think it doesn't really matter. Though secretly I was hoping he'd (Nichols) would have some success - but he's doing the same things he was doing here. He'll make good plays, he'll make good throws, and he'll also get stubborn and throw balls he shouldn't. His other weakness - he has no leadership qualities - the team here in Edmonton did not respect him at all. All you need to do is re-watch the absolute and utter destruction of the Wpg Blue Bombers here in Edmonton a few months back and the difference in the Eskimos play when Franklin came in in the second half. 
 
But you all have your own opinions. I have mine. Nichols is a fine backup QB for us, he won't be replacing Drew Willy, or any other starter, in the league, unless that team wants the first overall pick. 

I still support MOS but it's getting tougher each and every game as |I watch a pretty good defence lay it on the line and a offence that can only properly execute a dozen or so plays per game.   
 
You cant win by continually crapping the bed for the first 50 minutes and then show some spark in the last 10.  The fact that we were in position to tie is only because of the defence.   

I'd give O'Shea another year. Bellefeuille needs to go. It becomes clearer every game that he's the problem.

Injured or not, I really hope Dominic has played his last game as a Blue Bomber.  Time to go get a job selling shwarmas.

And I'm still blaming Liram for the loss against Calgary - I bet Castillo nails that 49 yard field goal 90% of the time min. Liram has missed 6 or 7 extra points this year from 32 yards out. Not sure on your point aalgernon but 5 for 5 is 5 for 5 - Liram can't even kick 5 XP's in a row.

Agreed as well - he's struggling right now and I'd put that to the 'sophomore jinx'. He proved last year he's a fine kicker. Maybe if we can find a punter that will allow LIram to concentrate just on the place kicking aspect - he seemed to be doing very well when Renaud was around to punt.

No we weren't. How can you say that. Did the official block Liram's kick? He had a 49 yard field goal attempt he should have made. Period. Edmonton got 'screwed by the refs' even more with that bogus PI call on Willis (an obvious makeup call) and their three week old kicker kicked a 53 yarder (4 yards farther back) into the wind - so I fail to see this point. GOOD TEAMS find a way to win, and BAD TEAMS find a way to lose. Bombers are the latter, they always find a way to lose

You guys have watched Matt Nichols now for what  - a month? I've watched him for 6 years (well 4 and a half due to injury). Problem here is people are being swayed a bit by us actually having a backup QB. You should be comparing Matt Nichols to the real incumbents - from Ryan Dinwiddie to Tee Martin to Elliot to Brink to Marve to Brohm. THAT's the glasses people are looking through and subbing Willy's name in there lmao.

I don't know about you guys, but I think Mr.Nichols has a chip on his shoulder the size of WEM (West Edmonton Mall) and I'd be shocked if he didn't have greatest performance as a starter today. He's motivated and I'll bet the rest of the team will feed of that. I just hope he doesn't get hurt.

Maybe - but it doesn't matter. Officials don't lose a team games. The players do. Liam kicks the field goal, it's tied, and we have no idea what happens after. Officials don't throw the flag - we have no idea what happens on 1st and 10 - it's just as likely - based on the bombers play I'll call it a 50/50 proposition - that Calgary sacks Nichols and strips him of the ball - or forces a bad throw for an interception - as it is for Nihcols to throw a TD pass and win the game (but then Calgary still has time to come back so who knows there )
 
There are so many variables in a game. There's missed assignments, mis-reads, dropped passes, bad throws, fumbles, wrong play calls, and botch calls by officials. Sorry guys, hate to say it, but you all sound like a bunch of whinny elementary school kids. Here's another saying for you - a good team will put it behind them and focus on the next game. The Eskimos are in town, and Reilly is struggling big time, but the Esk defense is a beast and I still feel the best defense in the league.
 
Bomber aren't out of it but they need a win on Friday - no excuses. And you all know, as well as I and the bombers, that the Officiating is 3rd rate in this league, so don't put yourself in a position for a botched call by the officials. If anything, the bombers should get some 'favourable' calls on Friday - so lets see what happens. 

Yep it is. But you know, a 'good' team will make that 49 yard field goal. Also, we have absolutely no idea what would have happened after that play if the officials let the play stand. Nichols could have been sacked twice for big yardage loss, or they could have turned the ball over. Just because they get the first down doesn't mean they win.
 
I like Liram, I think he'll be a star, but I just saw the guy he replaced and was out of football for TWO years come in and kick a 50 yard field last night in an Ottawa loss (Justin Palardy). 
 
To me, the call was irrelevant - the BOMBERS lost that game, not the officials. Liram is paid to make those kicks, he's not paid to make garbage field goals and 3 out of 4 extra points. He failed ,HE lost the game.
