It was a contact injury.  He was stumbling on his own then the DB speared him on the turf in the endzone.

Watch it again, you can see he takes a but of an awkward step just before the endzone and before the DB hits him he is reaching for his knee....the db didn't help but it was a non contact injury.

Residency matters.  Same for EI. Can’t collect EI even as a Canadian while outside the country.
There are tons of us as professionals who have no hope of ever collecting EI.  We pay into it as a tax to protect our economy.  CERB is very similar just less restrictive.  But at the end of the day the entire point of either is to stimulate the economy of Canada, not send money around the world.
Players living in the US will be getting stimulus money from the governments there.  American players living in Canada should qualify for CERB once they lose income.

I like the single points as they make things interesting. I also like the run backs from the end zone on missed FG's. You'd lose both if a missed FG didn't result in any points. Personally, I wouldn't want to lose either, but I understand the idea that missing a FG being seen as rewarding failure, especially when it happens on a 20 yard try.
I'd change the rule to no point if the ball goes through the end zone without being touched. That keeps the run backs and the 1 point while eliminating the point for shorter missed FG's.

While that may be true it's not how the rule works... his hand was moving forward at the time the ball was released and therefore is considered a forward pass... the play was called correctly...

No, he meant the Argos. I'm sure being in the steel industry, Stern is from Hamilton. That was such a Hamilton response & it was an hilarious moment. Randy Ambrosie just about fell out of his chair when he heard that.  Stern - "Can I say that?"  Ambrosie - "You just did!!"
Stern was asked about Percival Molson Stadium & if the new ownership would commit to building a new stadium. He answered that he would concentrate on getting the fans back in the stands & then once the team is profitable look at building a new facility. No mention was made of the Als moving to a new baseball stadium if Montreal gets a MLB team back.
Stern said that they would be "patient owners". That is, they will hire the right football people & put them into place & pay them to make football decisions. They will not be involved in the day to day football or business operations of the team. They may give advice from time to time but they will leave decision making to the people they hire.
Bob Young was in attendance but at the back of the room out of sight. Stern paid tribute to Young saying he helped he & Spiegel through the purchase of the Als as well as calming him down this morning as he was extremely nervous as he is not a public speaker. he then asked Bob if the Als could have their draft picks back which got a rise out of those in the room in referencing the one sided trade that sent Johnny Manziel &  3 first round picks to the Als last year.
They got involved in discussions with the league 3 1/2 weeks ago. This has been a fast process, said Stern. Ambrosie then explained that there was delay in the sale because the business groups he met for the most part were under financed. Or the principles of who were involved would change from meeting to meeting. With Spiegel & Stern they've been business partners for 42 years so the dynamic won't change. Stern said the team is well funded & money is not an issue. Ambrosie said they met with 7 to 10 groups wanting to buy the Alouettes.

Really good thread on the lawsuit with speculation it could become a class action
The basic gist being that the pension fund suing (they own a very small number of shares) is challenging how separate XFL is from WWE and how much work WWE is doing for XFL, feeling the work is not being charged at fair market value.
Vince's employment contract also prohibits him from working in competing businesses and pro sports is listed as one of the competitors he is barred from working.  The BOD amended his contract to specify the XFL as not being competition, which the pension fund disputes.
XFL had a big drag on WWE the first time around and these shareholders dont want it to this time.  I cant see it going very far but WWE certainly isnt cooperating in providing info

What should he have done exactly? He led on the field and in all likelihood led in the locker room. Stegall has been praised by basically every teammate he's ever had. The man is a consummate professional. What else should he have done to get another player in line? Roberts did what he wanted off the field because what he typically did on it was so insanely positive; he led by example on the field consistently.
I'm not sure what any teammate of his could've said or done to rein in his off field behaviour. I think the issue is this: Roberts took for granted his natural talent as he aged, failing to realize late nights and partying take a toll. He has nobody to blame but himself for that attitude.
That being said, it boggles my mind to think what he might have been capable of had he committed to taking better care of himself (not smoking, less partying, etc.).

He screwed up, no one is saying he didn't, but 9 years is crazy.
That's right, stealing over $5,000 is treated differently by legislation than stealing less than $5,000. My point was that the punishment should match the crime. 9 years is crazy.
"The American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Inc. considers cocaine to be a valuable anesthetic and vasoconstricting agent when used as part of the treatment of a patient by a physician. No other single drug combines the anesthetic and vasoconstricting properties of cocaine."

The average wage in Canada is around $50 000.  According to what some of you are saying, the average Canadian should be set for life in about 15 years - large unexpected bills included.
Sorry, your math does not add up.

The American for profit health care system stinks.
For what it's going to cost them to incarcerate this guy, they could have paid for his health care and then some.
But someone will probably be making a lot of money in their for profit prison system off of this.

In 2017, the situation you're describing applied. A fourth place team (Saskatchewan, 10-8) crossed to the East, and had to play on the road in Ottawa (8-9-1), despite SSK having a better record. That year, SSK actually even had a better record than the East Division Champion (Toronto, 9-9).
Your solution however, still doesn't quite make sense though... if SSK did get to host Ottawa instead (because they had a better record), how is that fair to Edmonton? They finished 12-6 (3rd in the West), and would've been the only Western team in the semis to play on the road, despite having a better record than SSK.

Surprisingly, not too early to start analyzing the playoff race. All scenarios do NOT consider the possibility of ties at this point, just too complicated to factor in that possibility at this point.

The hit on Rempel was legal.  The rule says you cannot hit him until his lifts his head.  He lifted his head and got hit - in that order.  What do you expect the league to do?
There is no rule that you cannot hit someone hard.  Rempel will look at the film and say that he should have stayed lower as he brought his head up.   It's no different than skating through the neutral zone with your head down.
I preach about protecting players all the time.  But I don't want anyone refereeing based on how injured a player was after the play.
