but here's the thing, the only reason the Riders are ahead of the Bombers is because they were fortunate enough to get 2 game against the Bombers in the midst of Matt Nichols slump. Nichols is his usual self those games and not the brain dead turn over machine he was for about a month then we're comfortably ahead of them and probably challenging for first in the league.

    Offensive lack of production :
    1st quarter 76 yds
    2nd quarter 55 yds
    3rd quarter 10 yds
4th quarter 200 yds when the score was 31-10
Does the lack of offensive time of possession and production impact the defence?
Placing sole blame on the defence is an over simplification.

Chris Streveler is a former NCAA QB who came straight to the CFL.  10/10 in his first preseason game.  OK.  What else?
Streveler attended Marian Central Catholic High School in Woodstock, Ill. and he led them to an 11-1 record and conference championships as both a junior and a senior. He was named conference Player of the Year in 2011 and 2012 and was a first-team all-state selection in 2012 and was recognized as Academic All-State in 2011 and 2012 and named team MVP.
    High school highlights:
After high school, Streveler signed with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers program.  The Gophers play at the highest level of college football, Division I FBS, in the Big Ten conference.  He was a backup in his freshman year and went 4/11 with 1 TD and 1 INT.  In 2015 the team moved him to wide receiver.  Following 2015, he transferred to the University of South Dakota to get some playing time at QB.
The University of South Dakota Coyotes play in Division I FCS, the second highest level of college football, between Division I FBS and Division II.  Stefan Logan played there too... a long time ago.
In 10 games in 2016, he went 164/273 (60.1%) for 1947 yards, with 22 TDs and 9 INT.  He also ran 161 times for 823 yards and 9 touchdowns.  The team went 4-7 and missed the playoffs.
In 13 games in 2017, he went 316/481 (65.7%) for 4134 yards, with 32 TDs and 8 INT.  He also ran 168 times for 720 yards and 11 touchdowns.  Streveler was also the runner up for the Walter Payton award... awarded to the top player in Division I FCS.
The team went 8-5 and lost in the second round of the playoffs to Sam Houston State... Timothy Flanders' alma mater.  Streveler had perhaps the greatest game of his college career against Sam Houston State, going 33/54 for 520 yards and five touchdowns with two interceptions, to go along with 51 yards rushing with one touchdown in a losing effort.
And now he is here, starting game one of the CFL season.  All eyes on Winnipeg, June 14.
    Help us Chris Streveler.
    You're our only hope.

PS I don’t run this site at all and I’d say it’s unfair to Rich and the moderation team to suggest I participate in the day-to-day operations of this place whatsoever.

Here are my camp thoughts so far based on the odd times I've stopped in at practice:

Chris Streveler plays a lot like Mike Reilly without the polish of the veteran experience. Threat to run, threat to beat you over the top with a good deep ball and he is slowly picking up on the timing routes in the middle parts of the field. I haven't watched him a ton but I have noticed he's improved day by day that I've been there. I think he's our number 2 by September, if not out of camp.

Myles White might be the best receiver in camp ... think Weston Dressler with a bit more size. His moves in the middle of the field and ability to make guys miss is something that this roster could really benefit from. I don't know if there's a day one spot for him at this point, but his return abilities and an ongoing performance in camp/pre-season games could push one of our three out the door or put him on the roster some other way.

Kembrell (I think?) Thompkins wears really short shorts. He looks like the kind of deep threat that I would liken to a guy like Brandon Banks, but a little bigger ... he's never going to catch 90 passes, but I could see him grabbing 50 for 800-1000 yards in the right offence. I just don't know if that's here. They've had him on the neg list for a while so he's going to get a chance, but he's not the future (already older than Darvin) and so I really can't say for sure that the timing is right with him. Rueben Randle is another one ... I just don't know how these NFL guys crack the roster. Could be something to watch though.

Forgotten about has been the linebacker battle now that we signed Bighill, but honestly I'm putting JSK on my roster over Wild at this point. Do they both make it? Who knows but if you're looking for cap savings, Wild could be a candidate ... then again, so could Drake Nevis because Brandin Bryant looks like a force at DT and compliments Poop Johnson well in terms of skill set.

Marcus Sayles ... we always go out and scout all these big bodied defensive backs and then of course it's a little fella who lights up the camp. His nose for the ball is incredible, but I want to see how he plays with the lights on. So far, going against the same guys with the same playbook and the same tendencies every day has served him very very well but let's see how he does with a different opponent. Also been impressed by Seisay (until he got nicked) and I've seen flashes from Humes (who is built like a mack truck)

Rashaun Simonise and Daniel Petermann ... jesus christ... these two guys are solid. Simonise is going to be a day one starter for us, he's left Wolitarsky behind if you ask me - even if DW is healthy. All three will be on the roster though.

    Week One Roster Prediction?

    QB - Nichols, Streveler, Ross
    RB - Harris*, LaFrance
    FB - Rush, Miller
OL - Bryant, Neufeld*, Goossen*, Chungh*, Hardrick, Couture
REC - Bowman, Adams, Dressler, Simonise*, Demski*, Petermann, Wolitarsky, White (DI)

DL - Jeffcoat, Okpalaugo, B. Bryant, Poop, Roh (DI), Corney, Ekakitie
LB - Santos-Knox, Bighill, Fenner, Wild (DI), Miles, Briggs, Gauthier
DB - Randle, Leggett, Loffler*, Gaitor, Alexander, Jones, Firlotte

    K - Medlock (DI)
    LS - Rempel

As much as I like Flanders, I just don't see him on the squad even if they part ways with a guy like Ian Wild and use Wilson/Gause instead. What do we need him for? He played a hybrid slot/tailback combo and Demski looks like he can very clearly fill a very similar role in our offence. There's only one football and I'd rather they look at ways to integrate a guy like Myles White into the offence instead so that when we go deeper into the season and have some injuries, he's not going to go all deer-in-the-headlights on us. Bowman/Adams/Dressler/Harris/Demski/White/Simonise/LaFrance is a ridiculous amount of weapons on offence and Flanders just loses the numbers game in my opinion. I also see them getting creative on defense with the ratio ... we'll "start" two there since I expect we'll have rotations that put two Canadians on the field all the time anyways - makes it easier to get Myles White on the field in certain packages if we want to give Harris a breather, throw Demski in the backfield and roll 4 imports on offence at times

Quentin Gause #42 is a very thick guy. Broke up a play in his area. Physically solid.  Was probably the second heaviest guy out there, behind Goosen.
Kind of a nice day within the stadium but windy as heck outside. No Durant, confirmed. Notable on the D, #37 Zavian Bingham dB, played the receivers physically and very tight breaking up plays and got a few cheers from fellow D men. He was mugging  L. Washington but Wash still came up with a one handed grab.  #45 Chinedu Oparuku good size and appeared eager. #19 Kylie Wilson looks like he’ll be competing for a LB position, focused.
#12 not on field but #18 replaced him. Have no idea who #18 is. #16 Tyler Stewart threw the ball the hardest of all four qbs out there. 15 and 13 rounded out the qbs. #13 Nelson looked the most challenged of the qbs.  #32 Cierre Wood RB is enthusiastic, fast, and hustles. Might be his schooling. He sure brought it.
Receivers, good news bad news. #87 Tony Stevens has presence out there and is going to compete for a job, with Lankford and Washington. #14 Myles White grabbed a long pass and outran a couple dbs for a TD. #12 Adarius Bowman, he’s big, but, oh, hate to say it, he dropped a couple.
#44 Prewitt should go home. Disinterested.
all numbers on jersey are for mini camp only.

    some observations...
    LB's
Gause ...thick..fast ..agile and looks to be front runner as the MLB..or at the least the DI spot. For a bigger guy very agile and capable of covering sideline to sideline as he showed in skelly...has a powerul jab/punch and would have no issue scrapping along line and shedding blocks to stuff the run...very impressed
Wilson too..very similar but not as agile...but plays with confidence..as did Gause. Not as quick as Gause but would have no issue covering a back in the flats and playing sideline to sideline...I would say him and Gause are prime candidate for the MLB role and I think Gause is the better,,,he's just darn good
Jones is not as quick and not as agile..but solidly built...practices like this are hard to judge a guys true worth, but he is behind the two I mentioned..though he looks to be a guy who could lay the lumber.
Be interesting TC and if we roll all import at Linebacker i could truly see JSK/Gause and Legget/Fenner with Wilson or maybe Wild as the extra...if we able to roster wise have all those guys that be sweet but one of Wilson/wild i think will be PR'd or cut

    DB's
Hate to Roc Carmichale a guy but Earl Wolff will start...smooth..savy pro who has extra greasy swivel to him and can just manouver and adjust at will to put himself in position to just make plays...and he is solid too...I actually wouldn't be surprised to see him at SAM too...he one way or another will be on the roster and a guy who can play..and excell at CB/HB/SAM...not sure why he isn't stlll in the NFL...BUt it's our gain..guy is legit...just knows where he is and where things were headed and has nose for the ball
Bingham too also impressed...looked confident and has a real knack for arriving the ame time as the ball and busting things up...didn't give up much cushion and can really see him fitting in this defense as a ball hawk..With him..Wolff..Fenner..Leggett..Randle...i see it being a tough camp for one of..if not any of Fogg..Gaitor or Clarke sticking...gonna be a good battle...nobody else really stood out, but again...was watching multiple things going on so its tough.
receivers...man if we could have this ratio thing cleared up to start 4 imports we have some talent to choose from with options to start4 and have 2 back-ups on roster not named Lankford
Best of group is Stevens by far..silky smooth...fast and just has ability to seperate easily..and often....he can run his routes and cut like Denmark could without gearing down but is big and can win battles for the ball...how he isn't kept around would be troubling. Never seen him drop a thing and everything he does just looks polished
Same can be said about C Washignton...big..knows how to use that  body and he is very quick for a dude his size..real nice hands and with this feild size..already seems to know where to find the seams and get the ball in stride...he could cause all kinds of havoc in the middle third of the field...
Can also see why Myles White was kept all yr..and brough back...lightning in a bottle and is so fast..out of his cuts..and once ball hits his hands..which are real good..best route runner out there..has a fifth gear he can jump into on the fly and tracks balls better than I have seen here in a long while..I hope he gets to show his return abilities becuse he has them too and can be a reason for us to be abe to roster hopefully 2 import receivers as a backup on game day...
LDW as well still has to be in the conversation..he has gained some size and looks more comfortable and polished...and his route running is much improved..he runs with meaning and purpose now it seems...confidence a familiarity does that..I also noticed he did some work on technique and is now a hand catcher as opposed to using his body as much..good on him as it allows receivers to play with speed better (which he has ample amounts of )and catch balls in stride...
I also noticed A.J Coney...he is quick and runs sharp routes and once ball is in his hands seems to be a threat to bust a big play...could be a camp dark horse...not sure if he is a returner..but that could be an ace in the hole for him
Anyway thats my opinions and thiughts..feel free to comment or rip it apart hahahaha

Absolutely agree. LeFevour was money in short yardage. I don't recall a short yardage play that didn't work.  It would have been nice to see a couple of successful passes in the plays that followed when he was left in. It seems that's all he brings. If we re-sign him and get a veteran backup like Glenn or Durant, we don't develop a future  QB (not that we ever have)... Unless we find a future development project who is great in short yardage.
