BigBlue got a reaction from Bigblue204 in How This Season Will Be Different
I loved Swaggerville .... and it got us to the Grey Cup

BigBlue got a reaction from DR. CFL in Lawless article on officiating and rule changes
What I think is unfair is being charged a challenge when you win the challenge ... the zebras have gotten lazy on close calls, thinking if they got it wrong they can always challenge it
I believe you should get only 2 challenges if you are wrong but unlimited when you keep being right

BigBlue got a reaction from SPuDS in ANDREW HARRIS: A Homer to Believe In
It's been a long time since we had a home grown Winnipeg star to cheer for. For me, AH makes the season.
Further, Harris is one of the few players in this league who can put the whole team on his back and carry them.
We have just added 4 victories to this season.
Won't it be great to have his family in the stands?

Harris is the best back we have had since Charles Roberts.

BigBlue got a reaction from Bigblue204 in End Zone Ticket Prices - Too High?
Based just on value I believe we are overpricing the end zones and leaving a lot of people at home watching on TV. Personally, I would rather spend the money on a good meal than pay what seems like a ransom for a family outing to the stadium. Yes I will pay up for the grandstands where the sightlines are decent. But to watch half the game from so far away... No thanks.
I believe the BOMBER management would do well to lower the price point in the end zone and fill that part of the stadium.... Develop some young fans for the future.
Do any of you feel the same way?

BigBlue got a reaction from Tracker in 2016 FREE AGENTS
First of all, on the board will be the city of Winnipeg & of Manitoba representation: their not very secret agenda is fiscal responsibility and loan protection. While increasing crowd size is attractive for them the bigger focus is keeping costs down. Look for a veto from them on any aggressive spending programs outside of the salary cap.
Second, there will be former players on the board. They would spend wildly if they can to make sure there is the best possible coaching and talent acquisition. Unfortunately they are virtually powerless with nothing but moral suasion on their side.
Finally there is the "old boys club" of mature or retired businessmen. Getting on the board is a feather in their cap, a status symbol of their success. Being chairman of the board is even greater status. Unfortunately in Winnipeg the mentality from the business world is cutting costs and making a profit especially in the face of flat or declining revenues. It is just contrary to their nature to spend an unjustified nickel. They are most risk-averse. These business types are rarely entrepreneurs and visionaries. The Winnipeg business type is very different from say the more freewheeling business people of Alberta or even Saskatchewan.
Until our governance changes this type of board composition is going to continue... And that's why we have been stuck for the past two decades in mediocrity. Occasionally, we end up with better talent and on field management but it has been short-lived and anything but the kind of thinking that builds and maintains dynasties.

BigBlue got a reaction from B-F-F-C in Chris Jones to Saskatchewan Roughriders confirmed
In terms of Lapo at least we are not hiring in January or February when most coaches are already in place ... it gives us a chance to assemble a cohesive staff instead of picking over the leftovers

Burris has learned how not to get hurt ..... look at his injury time in the lasst few seasons .... noy invulnerable but can scramble or throw quickly

BigBlue got a reaction from DR. CFL in Paying up: Ottawa vs. Winnipeg
I remember the ridicule on this forum as so many critiicized GM Desjardins personnel decisions.
He drafted Glenn then outbid us on Burris .... he went out & acquired talent for him ... your QB doesn't have a record breaking career year without that
We paid up for Westerman but we didn't do what it takes to get players like Muamba and Chris Williams
or Collaros or Burris or further back Mike Reilly and so many others .... neither Montreal nor Ottawa has been shy about acquiring veteran receivers or others
Teams are built on stars and leaders .... the middle class of players don't make a lot of difference, they usually live up to what is around them
What would Ricky Ray in a BB uniform mean for us this year? More than Picard? As much as Burris?
Of course acquiring one big signing per year isn't enough to hold a self-congratulatory fiesta but we seem to do exactly that every year with the exception of Mack's "everything from within" era.
So do we:
1. lack the will to get the job done (building a champion)?
2. lack the football IQ to recognize what it takes?
3. care enough about a championship to make it an all out priority?
And who is really responsible for answering these 3 questions, who is the one who really controls the purse strings? And is this person a genuine leader?
Do we have anybody in our org that has what it takes?

BigBlue got a reaction from Fatty Liver in The Next Step to Excitement: Change the Safety Touch
Amen to that .... The NFL is constantly making rule changes to improve their game and so should we (including correcting bad rule changes) .... What I do wish is that we think for ourselves .... for what our Canadain game needs and not just following little boo peep (the NFL) like blind sheep

BigBlue got a reaction from Mark F in MOS: list strengths & weaknesses, good & bad
The " multitude of posts", i.e. the belching of emotion is a complete disorganization and hardly the basis for making a sound judgment. Soundness is needed to either make or support a decision (or to sanely oppose a bad decision). Your comment reflects the lack of real work.... and as Henry Ford has famously said, because work is hard, few do it.

BigBlue got a reaction from Al Bundy in I am disgusted at our Cheapskates
Ranting is good for our collective soul and a proper slap in the face for the old boys club .... It is very good to demonstrate real & genuine controlled anger once in a while

BigBlue got a reaction from Mark F in MOS: list strengths & weaknesses, good & bad
There is a lot of controversy surrounding O' Shea but lets get clinical about him, do a balance sheet so to speak:
What has he done right, what has he done wrong?
Where has he failed? What are his coaching triumphs?
What does he need to change/improve?
What kind of a leader is he?
What kind of potential does he hold?
YOUR LIST of PLUSes & MINUSes please:

BigBlue got a reaction from Tracker in We have been in 3 games in a row!
This change of face has been delightful....
We won yesterday's game on courage, especially MOS's courage. Perhaps this courage is going to change to confidence... for the whole team, and these last 3 games have been against perhaps the league's best.
Ritchie finally figured out what to do against the rookie QB .... very well done. MOS is actually leading ST's and is new master of fake kicks
The D didn't give up .... they adjusted and prevailed
When will Nichols learn to shoot straight? He needs to take a breathe and use a quarter second to set himself .... still throwing in a panic ...... maybe team confidence will rub off on him .... When will Drew be back?
The game was won yesterday by genuine pro's (except maybe for Picard's ill-discipline) .... a team is finally emerging and do you know why? Because needed changes are being made where needed including playing Goosen and changing ST's personnel as needed .... including STOUDEMIRE at receiver.
A proper reward system is in place for first time in MOS's tenure as HC ... playing your heart out finally means something to everyone on the club

BigBlue got a reaction from Tracker in ANOTHER BLOWOUT loss to a last place team
The evidence is in the adversity ... a player goes down, a big mistake is made resulting in a TD against us ... and there is no come back, no digging deep .... instead we unravel and let them have another score
We hang in there on the scoreboard for a while but then suddenly we are down big with no hope of coming back with the type of crew we have ... in garbage time (which is regularly starting to be in the 3rd quarter) we put in some Johnny-come-lately first downs and maybe a score or two
We don't finish drives, let alone have two or three or four good drives in a row .... we have one here and one there .... this is not a team bursting with confidence or swagger
When we get to the red zone we look like the keystone kops - the defenders dig deep and we look foolish ... I am guessing our red zone TD ratio is the leagues worst ... good professionals shine at the goal line
Watching Kuale play and Sears sit last year was the beginning of MOS losing the locker room .... we have little leadership coming from the players you would expect it from
The players on this club are not whispering mutiny - - they are too resigned and are just hanging in there until next year
I don't hear them saying how much fun they are having.
