  1. I love the quantum shift in organizational attitude. The "damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead" mindset has to translate down to the field where players know that the effort they put out and pain they endure will not be for naught, and they had better put out or be replaced. The difference between winning and losing is often confidence, and if the players know that all the stops have been pulled out with going to the Grey Cup as as assumption, everybody wins, fans, management and players alike.
  2. Yaaaay! Another piece of the puzzle in place.
  3. I suggest that, if you are going to do that sort of thing, you may want to take some "before" pictures of your face to help the plastic surgeons in the reconstruction.
  4. I think it's also important to note that some religions have moderated their views in conjunction with changing social mores, and others haven't. The ones that haven't should be the focus of ongoing vitriol in my opinion, especially in places where people are being executed. Yes, the Irish have made amazing strides! Thank God it wasn't left to the politicians. They would have been dithering until the next millenium.
  5. So what's Iran's excuse? In Iran's case, religious extremism. Ever notice how the extremists in pretty much every reiigion all adopt the same belief system- homophobia, subjugation of women, intolerance of other beliefs, rigid behavioural rules, violent militancy and so forth? It also applies to the nuts in other non-relgious groups as well. The ones that haven't should be the focus of ongoing vitriol in my opinion, especially in places where people are being executed. I think its more how some of the damaged or power-hungry individuals within various groups choose to interpret the culture of their group, although there are groups who are completely malignant (like the white supremacy lunatics funded by the Coors family).
  6. Not less than 9 & 9, but 10 & 8 and even 12 & 6 should not be considered out of reach.

  8. Much of the virulent homophobia comes from people (male and female) who have homosexual histories or sexual deviancies themselves- like Jim Bakker and, recently TV "star" homophobe Josh Duggar was outed as a pedophile.
  9. As someone said, "Silence is complicity". When our own actions are above reproach, then we can criticize others.
  10. There seems to be a certain percentage of almost every group who fit into the "lunatic fringe" category, and by no means are they all "Christians" or even religious adherents of any sort. You will find more of them in certain groups, like fundamentalist literalist believers of Christianity, Judaism, Islam and so forth, but you will also find them in macho right-wing cultures like the military, and police, and the neanderthal attitudes even extend to gynophobia, racism and beyond.
  11. Tolerance as long as we all agree and don't debate right? It is not the debate that is the issue, it is the vitriol and sanctimoniousness that too often creeps into the debate. Once people start speaking for God, we're into the cesspool.
  12. Apart from one catch that sticks in my memory, what did Poblah ever do to warrant a return invite?
  13. Probably need to time him in the 40 with a calendar, but he has gotten sacks.
  14. Very true, unless of course he is an albino. We have to draw the line somewhere. Especially the left-handed Lithuanian albinos. They're the worst.
  15. Wouldn't it be neat of we had more than the minimum number of starting Canucks in games? It has happened on other teams before, but often.
  16. This is no longer the case since Rogers and MTS got into bed together a few years back. They share towers in Manitoba so wherever you get an MTS signal you'll get a Roger's signal now. Was it not Bell who bought the controlling interest in MTS?
  17. What I find heartening is that this discussion is taking place openly here without God, the Bible, "unnatural desires" and so forth being dragged into the exchanges. Twenty years ago, an open discussion such as this would not have been possible. It is slow progress to be sure, but it is progress nontheless, and all here should be complimented on the mature level of discourse.
  18. Depending on where you live, Koodo may be an option. I am not hyping Koodo because I am getting anything out if it, but we have been with Rogers, MTS, and now Koodo, with Koodo being the best experience and fit. The Koodo website has coverage maps if you want to check them out. Might work for you.
  19. Compared to 2013 or even 2014, this is day vs night. This the most optimistic I have been over the Bombers' chances since Berry left.
  20. I would love to see Sam stick in the CFL for a long time. The homophobes on both sides of the border will be outraged, but screw 'em. If Sam becomes a valuable member of his community and taxpayer, that's all we need from him.
  21. I was quite prepared to see Weltung as just another training camp jersey-filler, but Gottdammerung! the guy can fly and has more size than the average punt/kick returner in this league. Could be a real dark horse. I'm really looking forward to this year's training camp.
  22. As an example of how irrelevant and self-important MLB has become, consider the stupidity in Baltimore of "playing a game" in front of a completely empty stadium during the upheavals there.
  23. The mere thought that we could have had Mack as GM and Kelly as Head Coach at the same time absolutely freaks me out. That would have killed the Bombers in one year.
  24. At camp in 2013 I woulda ranked him 2nd behind only Buck... Buck, Yantz, Hall, Goltz, Chase something (I forget the guy's name) ... then again, there wasn't much to be excited about that year... Chase Clement. Yeah there wasn't too much memorable about him.... I'm sure he's a nice guy though Your mom seems to think so. Sorry, that was supposed to read "His mom seems to think so." Not sure which of these buttons will allow me to go back up and make the appropriate changes. "Num Lock"? Is that it? I've only had this computer for 6 months. I'll keep looking. Might have to call tech support. I'd hate to leave something so needlessly inflammatory up there for no reason. Isn't that the whole raison d'etre for the website?
  25. This player transaction could define Walters the way the Kito Poblah transaction defined Sleepy Joe Mack's regime. Mack brought in some good players but Poblah was a complete and utter bust. If Waggoner turns out to be as good as we hope, Walters will be venerated for decades. If Waggoner does not pan out, people will quickly forget all the good moves.
