Few here are asking that a dozen or so Bomber players be dragged out into the street and shot (just yet). Most are saying that we were out-played, out-coached and out-worked against Hamilton, and we do not want to have a replay of each of the past 6 years or so.

When does attendance dip on a consistent basis?
Tracker replied to White Out's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The real question is: how many teams have gotten their butts kicked this year so far? -
The Riders are in the same position as the Alouettes and Argonauts were, and the Bombers and Esks find themselves in. Toronto and Montreal have found ways to win without their #1 pivots, and now we are going to find out what the Bombers, Esks and Riders are made of.

That assumes that the team is ready to be weaned.

Everything you described is about taking a decent quarterback (Cato) and quickly devising a game plan to make the most of his abilities and take away Calgary's strengths. We are going to find out whether our brain trust can do the same, and that will be against Montreal. Brohm's experience ought to offset Cato's apparent superior skills, so if we lose, its all on the coaches. And rightfully so..

It will probably take a half-season for the players to get used to the new rules and for the receivers to find new ways to draw penalties.
-
I think the more frustrating part was that Brohm had him on 2 deep balls... which were promptly under-thrown Apparently if you don't have first team offense reps it automatically weakens your arm by 35% leaving you unable to throw a deep ball! With the backup QB, You also automatically lose 66% of the ability to pick up the blitz. Our starting quarterback and offensive line weren't doing so well, either. what is 66% less than zero?

Mocking Rod Black is like shooting fish in a barrel.

Sounds like it would make a helluva Monty Python sketch, right up there with the 10k run for the incontinent.

Hamilton was impressive in their first game, we had film and a pre-season on them so how much did that help?Apparently, not so much.

I'm not sure if "erotic blitzes" would be approriate for a family-oriented Bomber audience. Would that involve nudity, verbal suggestions to distract Bomber O-linemen or deep, lustful gazes?
-
Too early to anoint Cato as the heir to Calvillo, but apparently Cato had a grand total of one week to learn the playbook and his teammates, so that tells me that O'Shea's excuse for Brohm's sub-par performance Thursday that Brohm didn't have enough reps is verging on an insult to the intelligence of fans.

This comes down to whether Hurl has been doing his job, and the game replays ought to tell the coaches all they need to know about that. Hammy's running was mostly outside, so I do not think that is Hurl's turf, but who knows?

Oh yeah that's right..so he calls running plays and they don't succeed against a hot Hamilton defence...you and most others would be up his ass for calling running plays when they are so far behind. Almost every offensive coordinator calls passing plays to try and get back in the game...that's the only way to try and score quickly! They had 3 Q's to try to catch up or at least keep pace and it was obvious that the pass only approach was not working and rarely does. Time is not their biggest problem if they aren't being productive. I would like to see the Bombers revert to a default strategy when the O is struggling in an attempt to stabilize the situation. This would put less emphasis on the QB's talents and focus on the running game by playing Cotton, Marshall and a FB at the same time pounding the ball down the field. A blitz intensive team like Hamilton could be vulnerable to this attack especially if Cotton can break through the first line into the secondary. Hopefully over time this attack would loosen up the passing lanes so that they could return to a more balanced attack once the reeling stopped. A positive side effect would be giving the D more time off the field to rest and regroup. Agreed. A solid running game means that the opposing D-line cannot pin their ears back on every play and charge the QB. Moreover, with at least one of the linebackers coming on every down, that ought to open up lots of room once the back clears the line.

I actually agree with this fully. Brohm isn't good at all but he wasn't the reason we got destroyed If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.
-
Who's calling for O'Shea to name names in public? He does need to show the fans that he is as upset by that pathetic performance as they are. Every team will lose games, but good teams that have playoff aspirations don't get their butts kicked up and down their home field and put up little or no resistance.

I get that you are royally PO'd at Bellefeuille, but even though the only way Brohm will get into the CFL Hall of Fame will be as a paying visitor, does the O-line coach not deserve to flogged publicly?
-
I'm expecting at least a two-game absence for Willy. With the mammoth lawsuit against the CFL, there will no taking even a remote chance if Willy is not absolutely 100%.

He was obviously embarrassed and rightly so. This is his way of dealing with the embarrassing truth. He much contrition do you need? He said the D will improve and they will take all necessary steps. That is all. I don't need anything more from him. I don't need my head coach to be contrite. I just thought it was funny. We have SNL and the Comedy Network for humour. A coach who gets embarrassed at home like that by his indifferent players ought to be fuming.

And watching Cato playing for Montreal makes me sick. He is everything we want Brohm to be and isn't. Maybe Marve isn't, either, but by the time he gets to show his stuff in a starting role, O'Shea may be up to his butt in aligators and planning his off-season job search..
-
A "we want Marve!" chant last night says it all I think. Is Brohm Bellefeuille's Boltus 2.0? I think so. I can't really understand how anyone could possibly defend Brohm's performace last night, he just has no tools whatsoever it seems like. If Marve has first team reps this week and playcalls are designed to his strengths he may definitely surprise. The QBs have to be put on the field to show their worth, look at Cato tonight. He's killing it in Calgary. There's nothing worse than watching CFL coach stubbornness who go with their guys through thick and thin no matter how poorly they perform. This is the way it is with O'Shea, in the post game interview he said that they would give as many reps. as possible to Brohm as #2 just as they did Willy last year. Translation: Until Brohm is injured and unable to continue Marve is not getting playing time regardless of the score. I fear that you are right. UGH. We could be in next year country by the August long weekend.
