You remember back in 07 when teams started to only rush 2 guys because Glenn knew where to go before the snap and got the ball there before anyone could touch him? Compare that to how PIerce plays.

The HAM trade for Wojt was a real killer for me...  how that guy was available and we slept through it, I just don't know.

I was always very supportive of Buck when he was playing alright. I wanted him to succeed and while he was never an elite level QB for us, he at least did an okay job of managing things for us while he was in the lineup. Unfortunately, since the Banjo Bowl two years ago when he threw 5 picks and got lit up by Craig Butler, he's never been the same. His numbers since that game do not deserve my support.
 
Buck has never been an on-field leader for us on a consistent basis and while he played at a higher level for us a few years ago, his mental and physical game has broken down so much that he's just no longer a viable option.
 
The coaches spent all offseason designing a max protection offense to basically keep him healthy and in the game at the cost of production. It didn't work because it's not an effective scheme for his skillset or what's left of it.
They took the reins off and let him play HIS game and it got him injured after one half of football.
 
He's just not durable enough to play the style of football that gives him the best chance at being effective anymore. Keeping him safe comes at the cost of rendering him useless.

I was always Mack bashing while he was here.  Well, not always but the last couple of years anyway.  Mostly in response to some IMWT type statements that I found completely off base.  Not because he was a bad guy but because I strongly felt he was in over his head in regards the totality of the GM's job and because I thought he had some flawed philosophies that he was too unwavering on.
 
But now that he's gone I wouldn't do that (above paragraph being the exception).  The guy lost his job and why pile on?  Plus, nobody likes and "I told you so" type.  I would rather argue with you guys about what to do now then what we did before. 
 
It's in people's nature to want to believe and believing in the hidden genuis of Joe Mack was the best way to believe happier times were just ahead. Especially when the alternative is what's happening now.  A complete rebuild with a new guy who will probably be hired by incompetent meddlers on the cheap (in other words the same way Joe Mack was hired).

If I was running our team, I'm sure I'd have drunk dialed Jim Barker and tried to trade Tim Burke, Henoc Muamba and our next three draft picks for Ricky Ray by now.

As per Bob Irving via Twitter, Bellefeuille told the media today that Burke will pick the starting QB on Saturday.

Zone read all day.  Every time we ran it there was a positive play, running and passing.  Since Goltz is a threat with his legs he draws the playside end and LB, since he is a threat with his arm they aren't stacking the box and the lanes were there for Simpson, you get the HB's and safety peeking in and there are openings for the receivers.  The triple threat factor makes the defense pause and then our offence can make plays.  It was working incredibly well on the scoring drives, then we went back to straight drop back passing and stalled.  I really thought they found a rhythm on the scoring drives, and they were flat out beating Calgary's defense, they were off-balance, then the play calling went away from what worked and our defense couldn't get off the field.

... Richard Harris was taken from us way too early.
 
Just wanted to mention it. Hopefully we can deliver with a win today for him.

i don't know about announcing him as a starter (have to earn that right, imo), but i thought the same thing about giving him some reps. that's what garbage time is supposed to be for.

it seems like there is a real double standard when it comes to accountability with this team. Seems to me that he is much quicker to bench or replace defensive guys than offensive ones despite the offense being such an achilles heel for this team for years now. I mean we returned pretty much everyone on offense... how does that make any sense? Then after a month of crappy offense the only changes getting made are due to injuries... End the double standard and start benching the guys on offense who aren't doing their jobs.

As much as I agree with him, THIS quote is exactly why Burke needs to learn when to shut his mouth.

Pierce has never ever ever been a consistent pocket passer. He was always a heart and soul scrapped who when he felt pressure could run very effectively and make a defense pay with his legs but he was never going to stand there like Ray or Calvillo and pick a D apart with his arm. That he is failing to turn into that guy in Winnipeg is no surprise, he's still the same guy he was minus his one truly great attribute... his mobility. If you took away Burris ability to run do you think he'd still be a good qb?

It's not a coincidence that any time they want mobility in the offense, they take Buck out.

Its pretty early but those six NIs seem reasonable - but I would consider protecting Renaud or Palardy if one of them has a really big season.
 
The only untouchable is Henoc, after that, really everyone can be replaced to some degree.
