DR. CFL reacted to Mike in Crowton fired
I use first names for certain people around here (TBurgess, TrueBlue, 17to85, Noeller, Raydawg, Mr. Perfect) just because I've spent so much time talking football with them that it seems awkward for me to call them something else. Or I guess in some cases, I actually see them outside of this forum so I feel weird using a handle to address them.

But if anyone had an issue with it, they're free to say so and I'd stop.

But do you know any coaches, players or  managers well in the CFL? I  do  & it can be tough sometimes as I am a fan  first. I have my loyalties, ha ha. If you don't know anyone then you can say whatever you like. But when people  know you, well.... Thing  is, I could change my  handle but  I don't want to. I just have to  watch what I  say. And yeah, doing that is skanky.

That's ridiculous. Tillman traded his starting QB once before and it turned out okay so he thought he could do it again but failed miserably. He also has a history of surrounding himself with players and coaches he knew and/or brought into the league and in this case that was Jyles.

The problems this team now faces are so multi-faceted that a total housecleaning is now in order. No more tinkering. We got what we deserved by hiring:

-A CEO wirh no CFL experience and replacing him with a CEO with CFL expperience but no CEO experience. ( we don't learn)

    - a GM decades removed from the CFL with no GM experience and replacing him with a GM with no experience.( we don't learn)

    - A head coach with no head coach experience.

    - A OC with no CFL experience.

    - A DC with a losing experience that was somebody's friend.

All this backed up by a meddling knee jerk board of directors, and a disillusioned fan base, clearly explains where we are at today...................and we spent so much time blaming Buck. Not that he is excused, as there are digns of deterioration. But we have also been mislead with talent level. In terms of players, who needs to be replaced:

    - right side of o-line
-Simpson-lost a step since surgery and cut problems
    -Denmark-route running problems
    -Poblah- can't catch
    -CM- can't make a play
    - Suber- lost his closing speed and height issues with "tall drinks of water"
    - JJ maybe(last two games OK)
    - Stewart- speed and desire seem to have vanished

In terms of QB ride Buck till he's injured again, backed by Hall and Goltz and actively dig for talent or trade.

Being at the game and focusing just on the secondary players, you could see them grabbing and holding on to receivers on almost every play, it was comical after awhile. Most of the penalties occurred well before the pass arrived which made things look worse than they were. Sometimes officials call this, sometimes they don't, consistency would be nice but by rue, they were definitely penalties.

As soon as a db grabs cloth it is a penalty. Those were the right calls. Not defending the refs but they got some calls right. Our secondary was exposed tonight. Not that we didn't know already.

I believe contracts and SMS management were also a part of Hodgkinson's duties going back to when he was first named assistant GM before Mack was hired.

DR. CFL reacted to The Unknown Poster in Rumour: Max Hall Will Start This Friday
I have a crazy theory. Please bear with me!
Can we agree that Buck is Burke's boy, Hall is Crowton's boy and by process of elimination, Goltz is Mack's boy.
Crowton realized he was taking the brunt of criticism but Burke wouldn't move away from Buck. Crowton goes over Burke's head to Mack. Mack tells Burke to make the QB change.
The compromise is buck will "assist" Crowton, in essence becoming Burke's eyes and ears on offence possibly because Burke realized he was being shut out of the O and wanted a "spy"
Crowton might have asked for Hall but Mack went with Goltz because he's his boy and more importantly, Crowton wanted to sit Buck
Last game we saw Hall warming up but no change was made even though we all thought Goltz should have been pulled. Possible reason: Crowton tells Hall to warm up, Burke refuses, wanting to put Buck in but realizing after the "grand proclamation" he couldn't (and not wanting to disobey his boss).
Mack gets fired and suddenly Hall is starting. We know Wade say down with Burke. We can assume the offense was a major topic of conversation. Burke stayed two weeks ago he wanted an offensive consultant brought in. Only when Miller took over was that made a reality. Why? If Crowton was going over Burke's head to Mack and Mack was allowing it, we can assume Mack had more confidence in Crowton than Burke did.
Remember, immediately after Miller was introduced, rumours began circulating that Buck would be moved up the depth chart. That could be indicative of miller and Burke sharing the same opinion that barring any other option, Buck gives them the best chance to win.
So Miller and Burke agree the Offence is the glaring issue. They sit Crowton down and tell him that Mack is gone so things are going to change and Goltz isn't the answer.
Crowton realizes he's dead man walking (especially after the Marcel announcement) and executes a last ditch plan, imploring management to let Hall run his offence. Hall's his boy and worked with him before.
The odd part is the report that Goltz was told 'sorry kid but we want to win now' and don't have time to develop him which is inexplicable if they are going to Hall with zero CFL experience. It makes sense if Crowton has argued that hall doesn't need development time because his offence is suited to hall's skillset.
Burke and Miller agree because they know one of two things will happen: Hall will click with Crowtons offence like no one else did and win. Or he will flop and it will mean bye bye Crowton and hello Buck.
Just my theory based on available information and logic.

I was shooting the poo with a couple of football guys about two years ago.  Bison and Bombers from Miller's era.  They were talking about Wade's underdog tale and everything he accomplished.  One guy said, "it would be a great story if he wasn't such an *******" and the other guy agreed.

Someone asked what they meant and they ran down a short list of Wade's unlikable traits.  None were too serious so I don't want to exaggerate.  The line that stood out to me was "ruthless in business."

Not saying it means anything or that it's a bad hire or anything like that.  Just telling you what those guys said.

I have a novel idea. Perhaps they should hire an independent consultant and have them sit done with the people in the organization and find out from them their roles, their perception of exactly what is going on there. You can even include the BoD if you like. Clearly that organization has no defined leader and no clear communication chain.

The bias against Buchko comes from perception.

CJOB signs a 7 year broadcast deal with the Bombers when TSN 1290 clearly had to be in on that bid.  Then shortly after that he leaves CJOB to become CEO of the Bombers.

One of his first news conferences as CEO is to guarantee that the stadium would be completed on time.  It was a year late.

That and for his first half year on the job he had that horrible blonde highlight thing going on.  (Is it fair to base opinion on him on how he looks ... no ... but it happens all the time regardless.  And he looks much more professional and cut out for the job since)

The perception is that he signed a back door deal to become CEO of the Bombers after giving them a 7 year radio deal with CJOB.   Other then that, what qualifies him to run a professional sports organization and make decisions on football operations?

Tomorrow's paper: In an effort to save his job and fix the QB position, Joe Mack has signed QB Mrs. Muamba to a three-year, $300,000 a year contract.

"We're hopeful that with Buck Pierce's guidance and Gary Crowton's dynamic scheming that she will flourish in our system," said Mack.

Buck has more yards per completion and a higher completion percentage.  The numbers don't lie, sorry guys.  I know you all hate Buck Pierce but Pierce being bad doesn't equal Goltz being good.  Sorry, doesn't work that way.

So disappointed to here Burke's comments about how good the team is, how vastly improved they are and how they are on the "cusp".
Worse, hearing Goltz parrot that same verbiage.
Sounds like the team was given a PR release and told to use the word.
Montreal fires their head coach. We pay ourselves on the back for not being blown out.
Disgraceful. Mack left the cupboards bare as far as coaching goes. We literally cannot fire any of our coaches as we have no one to replace them.
