  1. Goltz can't live the button-down life like you guys. He wants it all: the terrifying lows, the dizzying highs, the creamy middles. Sure, he might offend a few of the bluenoses with his cocky stride and musky odors - oh, he'll never be the darling of the so-called "City Fathers" who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards, and talk about "What's to be done with this Justin Goltz?"
  2. In my lifetime the Bombers have won 7 Grey Cups. Six of them were won by Head Coaches who, when we hired them, were Rookies. Boom goes the dynamite!!!
  3. I agree with this to some extent, but then you take a look around the league and see guys like Benevides, Milanovich, and Chamblin all having success and they were rookie HC's when they arrived. Even Hufnagel was a rookie CFL HC, although he had HC experience in the arena league. But you also make a good point about the GM and CEO being rookies and how adding a rookie HC to the mix could be a bad idea. However if Walters doesn't end up as GM, and we get a veteran guy like Higgins, then that is not as much of a concern.
  4. Good find Jacquie
  5. -Hiring a head coach My top 3 candidates for this position would have to be Dave Dickenson, Mike O'Shea, and Richie Hall. Here is my reasoning. Dave Dickenson is an obvious choice, as the top up-and-coming coordinator in the CFL. If anyone can fix our offence, it would be him. Mike O'Shea seems to be a strong leader, and I like the idea of a special teams coordinator getting the top job because he will be more likely to hire a strong OC and DC and just let them do their job. He now has 4 years of CFL coaching experience... I think he is ready, if you get the right support for him. And finally, Richie Hall. His defences are solid, if unspectacular, every year, and he had a decent run in Edmonton going 16-20... I believe people can learn and improve and that experience will help him. I think he deserves another shot. -Transactions before the expansion draft Just get Collaros or Burris in here. IMO they are the only two real options. But if I'M the GM, I'm putting out feelers for Ray, Lulay or Durant. Maybe it takes a couple first-rounders and a good Canadian player to get one of those guys, but IMO it would be worth it. We need a great QB here... gotta take that shot if it's available. Realistically though, I think it will come down to trading draft picks for Collaros... probably a second rounder and change. I don't think we will be swapping any players because I'm not sure how interested anyone is in the guys we have. But if we could use a guy like Stephan, West, Sherman, or Poblah to sweeten the deal, sure, make it happen. -Players protected from the draft QB: Hall Imports: January, Denmark, Miles, Turner, Anderson, Wild, Parker, Dunn, Sears, Suber. I'll put my top 13 non-imports to protect in order. Likely we will lose one of them so it will only end up with 12 protected. Non-Imports: H. Muamba, Watson, Kohlert, Greaves, Neufeld, Pencer, Swiston, Sorensen, Poblah, Volny, Thomas, Labbe, Etienne. Beyond the expansion draft, I don't know what's going to happen. My obvious moves would be to get some veteran Canadian OL in here, and hopefully a couple veteran DBs. If Andrew Harris is truly available, he needs to be a Blue Bomber. Free agent kickers are tough to come by, but I'd get one in here if possible. Saskatchewan has got great field position all year by employing an import punter. Their deep pool of Canadian talent lets them do that, but we should do it too if it will help. At the draft, I would focus on the OL, DL, and probably look at a couple safeties and linebackers (depending on what happens with Muamba and Labbe).
  6. He is a really effective runner. Maybe it would be worth keeping him around as #3 behind Collaros and Hall to run short yardage and redzone packages. I know we like to be developing a QB but Collaros and Hall are both pretty young themselves so its not like there's any urgency to develop yet another young guy. Goltz does one thing and he does it well... so let him handle it.
  7. Joey Elliott still played better than Hall did. yeah that 52-0 loss to the Riders was a great example of that too... Give it up already... Elliott's gone. So why keep bringing him up? It's over. I've explained this before, until he's been adequately replaced it's worth bringing up. He has been. Hall is better.
  8. I'd like to see us acquire Collaros for a 7th rounder and then hire Barker to be our GM
  9. Sorry what happened to Sims Walker?
  10. Joey Elliott still played better than Hall did. No way
  11. Why? What in Tim Burke's body of work supports the concept that he's a good HC? Acknowledging to the media that he has bad players? No. That speaks to the fact that he is a poor leader that leans on crutches, has not shown capable of coaching talent up, nor developing scheme around your talent. Give him the '01 Bombers and I'd bet he'd coach them to a losing record. How so? The '01 Bombers had 14 wins and Burke had 3 wins with this team. So by my calculations 14+3 = 17 and that team would have went 17-1, a CFL record.
  12. I'd list them as: 1. Dave Dickenson 2. Chris Jones 3. Marcel Bellefeuille 4. Tom Higgins 5. Khari Jones 6. Kavis Reed 7. Paul Lapolice 8. Doug Berry I'm sure there are others, but those come to mind. Rick Campbell is on that list somewhere, and probably close to the top. He knows the Eskimo Way.
  13. I'm personally not a big fan of Kavis, he's just a little too over-the-top. I'd rather look at other options.
  14. If the Als are able to go from Calvillo to a new star QB over the course of half a season.... well that's just not fair.
  15. Meanwhile the Bombers are sitting around with their thumbs up their butts
  16. I guess this would be a good time to mention that if Mack always listened to Walters, we'd have Edem and Pasztor over Mulumba and Pencer but we'd also have Mitchell over Muamba. Well we wouldn't really have Pasztor now would we, considering he's the starting right tackle for the Jaguars.
  17. Mike Quinn gets my vote
  18. That the source is very high is quite revealing. Yeah well, that's like, your opinion, man
  19. Seems really unbelievable but I love Dunigan so I'm on board. Dunigan for GM, Khari for HC... when are they hiring Stegall? And what is TSN going to do?? Stay tuned for he answers to hese questions and more!
  20. Terrible comparison. Buono is a hall of fame coach and gm, Walters is acting GM of a failing organization. Miller would be irresponsible to give Walters the same freedom as Buono gets.
  21. Ok. Miller hasn't made any coaching or player decisions (that we know of) so still not sure where he has done an about-face.
  22. Pretty sure? Let's see the quote then.
  23. Don't blame Miller. The Board knew exactly what they were getting when they hired him. He is a hands-on guy, he's not just going to sit in the background. If you don't like it, blame the board for hiring him, don't blame Miller for doing exactly what he said he'd do.
  24. I get that in business you work with whom you know and trust. And although I know Wade part-owns Elite, who knows -- maybe it will be Fish who gets paid by the BB, not Elite Performance. That would be reasonable in my opinion, optics notwithstanding. To me what is more troubling is the about-face on meddling in football ops. Two months ago he said he wasn't going to. Now he is. If he wanted to be GM why didn't he lobby for that job? He has always maintained that he would be involved in football decisions... there has been no about-face.
