Fair enough. I don't know what Ottawa's strategy is going to be for this expansion draft, but if it were me I'd be going after established veteran Canadians rather than prospects, even if they are a little older. They will have 7 picks in the 2014 CFL draft and the 4 guys from the 2013 draft as well. They will have plenty of young talent to work with right off the bat if they draft well. What they need from the expansion draft is proven guys who can fill the starting roles, even if it's just for a couple years.

How quickly we forget Alexis Serna and Troy Westwood. Yes there's a lot of good kickers in the league right now but that doesn't mean we can just pull one out of our asses on command. We could lose a starting OL or a starting receiver and have a guy step in right away with the prospects we have. Kicker, I'm not so sure.

You would all let Palardy go? I think he would be a lock to be taken if we don't protect him. Good Canadian kickers are valuable.

seems like a risky play. You're leaving Henoc unsigned all the way up until the draft and then counting on him signing back in Winnipeg based on what? A promise? Even though you were willing to gamble on his future with the team? I would lock him up now and leave the gambles for the less important players.

Pontbriand, Renaud, H. Muamba, Etienne, Labbe, and Kowalczuk are all in their final year. There are probably more but those 6 are for sure.

Based on what? Is three a magical number that determines a QB is ready? Have you done research to suggest 3 years is the maximum amount of time it should take a QB to develop? Tate got five years! Besides, it's more like 2.5 years, and even that was as the #3 or #4 QB. Not getting a whole lot of reps. Like I said, Pierce will go down, Goltz will get his chance. Why rush it? How has that worked out for us in the past?

Goltz just isn't ready to take the job yet, IMO. Might as well let him get some good time in as the backup before Pierce is inevitably injured again and Goltz is thrown into the fire. For all the people clamouring to sit or cut Pierce, just remember who you're talking about... Goltz IS going to get his shot this year. It's just a matter of when, and I prefer to keep him on the bench just a little longer.

Pierce is unfotunately still the best option we have.
