  1. 60.4% vs 57.7% accuracy. Receivers have dropped passes from both. As far as decision making, fast doesn't always equal right. Can't believe I have to explain that. Goltz had the lowest gain per pass in the league in that last game because he continues to throw it too early.
  2. Buck's still more accurate than Goltz, better decision maker, too. Those things may come in time for Goltz. Or they may not.
  3. What article are you referring to? I'm not sure I get what you're saying.
  4. I'm sure no one wants to hear it but if Buck Pierce played last night... we probably win.
  5. I thought Jovon Johnson had a really solid game.
  6. It sucks having such a poor team but it sucks even more that everyone knows how to fix it but it's just not happening. We've all been saying it for years now. A QB, a couple good OL, and an experienced OC. Over the last few years, we've seen Ray, Burris, and Glenn change teams. We've seen Saskatchewan, Calgary, and Toronto completely rebuild their offensive lines. We've seen Saskatchewan pick up George Cortez to fix their offence, and Toronto get Scott Milanovich for theirs. How come the Bombers have not made a single big move to fix their glaring weaknesses when everyone and their dog recognizes what those weaknesses are? Why such a lack of action? In 2010 we started building with a mandate to build through the draft and establish continuity. Well we've certainly done that, and all it has given us is losses. I'll never stop being a fan (unless they hire Tillman), but it's just so disheartening.
  7. Followed by... http://www.rodpedersen.com/2013/08/the-monday-morning-goalie.html?m=0 * To clarify a point in Friday's column -- the Blue Bombers are NOT actively pursuing Eric Tillman as their next GM. However the rumour stands that he COULD be in line for the job. A few have told me Bomber President Garth Buchko is good friends with Eskimo President Len Rhodes and therefore this scenario would never happen.Ummmmm, so what? The Eskimos are the model franchise now? And the Bombers can afford tobe choosy with their track record?Just sayin'.
  8. http://www.rodpedersen.com/2013/08/friday-rodservations.html?m=0 * With Thursday's demotion of starting quarterback Buck Pierce in Winnipeg, the wolves are starting to line up at Bomber GM Joe Mack's door. The rumour persists that the Bombers may look to Eric Tillman as their next GM. That suggestion was floated in this space some time ago but was scoffed at by Winnipeg media types. Don't be so sure. However another name has been circulating regarding the imminent GM opening in Winnipeg and it belongs to current Roughrider assistant GM Jeremy O'Day.
  9. I thought they lost Angus Reid too but I guess he has been out all season. Still, Kabongo - Norman - Valli is just about as weak an interior OL as the Bombers will face this season.
  10. Things working in the Bombers' favour - BCs OL is depleted and Winnipeg's d line is solid. Things working against the Bombers - Everything else... Here we go...
  11. Here's a little refresher course on just what Eric Tillman brings to the table. As if the sexual assault wasn't enough, he's also a walking disaster as a GM. http://www.edmontonsun.com/2012/11/24/edmonton-eskimos-president-and-ceo-len-rhodes-opens-up-in-exclusive-terry-jones-interview
  12. I'm sure a rational argument could be made for Tillman. All I'm saying is the man disgusts me and I wouldn't buy a ticket or support the team in any way while he was the GM here. And I'm a big supporter right now and have been even through the really bad years. To me, the small chance for a few extra wins doesn't justify hiring a guy who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a minor and also made an absolute disaster of the last team he was GM for. We can do better.
  13. One big difference seems to be in the quality of non-import free agent signings. The quantity is roughly the same but the best of ours are Palardy, Cvetkovic, Kohlert, Sorensen, and C. Muamba. Compare that with the best of the Riders' free agent signings - Labatte, Picard, Foley, Woldu, Huclack. The difference is huge.
  14. I was inspired to create this thread after reading the Rider version started by danno over at Riderfans: http://www.riderfans.com/forum/showthread.php?117295-How-did-the-Riders-build-this-team Contrast the two approaches and draw your own conclusions... Non-Import Draft: 12 players (round drafted in parentheses) - Anthony Woodson (4), Carl Volny (5), Kito Poblah (1), Jade Etienne (1), Paul Swiston (4), Chris Greaves (6), Henoc Muamba (1), Pierre-Luc Labbe (6), Jake Thomas (4), Cory Watson (2), Rene Stephan (4), Carl Fitzgerald (3) Non-Import Local Juniors: 1 player - Brett Carter Non-Import Undrafted Signings: 3 players - Michel-Pierre Pontbriand, Teague Sherman, Dan West Non-Import Free Agent or Waiver Signings: 11 players - Rory Kohlert, Chris Kowalczuk, Justin Sorensen, Steve Morley, Cauchy Muamba, James Green, Ryan Lucas, Justin Palardy, Chris Cvetkovic, Philippe Dubuisson-Lebon, Mathieu Boulay Non-Import Trades: 1 player - Mike Renaud Import Recruits: 30 players - Justin Goltz, Max Hall, Will Ford, Chad Simpson, Clarence Denmark, Doug Pierce, Aaron Woods, Isaac Anderson, Marty Markett, Demond Washington, Wesley Pendleton, Alex Suber, Ian Wild, Freddie Harris, Alex Hall, Bryant Turner, Zach Anderson, Marquis Frazier, Chris Garrett, Chris Matthews, Andre Douglas, Desia Dunn, Jeremy McGee, Johnny Sears, JT Gilmore, Terrell Parker, Wallace Miles, Aderious Simmons, David James, Dexter Davis Import Free Agent or Waiver Signings: 7 players - Buck Pierce, Terrence Edwards, Shannon Boatman, Glenn January, Brandon Stewart, Jovon Johnson, Kenny Mainor Import Trades: 0 players. Note: Some of the players listed as free agent signings may have never played a game with another team, but spent time with another team in practice or training camp (Kohlert, Mainor, Kowalczuk, Dubuisson-Lebon, Boulay).
  15. Being down 17-14 is "out of the game at halftime"? Never mind the fact that the Bombers played Calgary and Toronto, while Edmonton got Montreal and Hamilton, who the Bombers have also played close with.
  16. Starting to get the feeling there won't be much scoring in this one
  17. You don't remember it because it never happened.
  18. I'd rather never win a Grey Cup again than hire Tillman
  19. Pedersen constantly pulls rumours out of his ass. He's got one of the worst track records around as far as rumour reporting goes.
  20. No but he is a sex offender so not my ideal candidate.
  21. That's more reasonable and I can agree with that. For example... Ed Tait ‏@WFPEdTait6m #Bombers QB Buck Pierce just spoke to media: he's angry, frustrated; says he wasn't told he would groom young QBs. Wants to play #bn
  22. That's such bullshit. What's he going to do? "Oh sorry guys, I know you want me to be the starter but I'm not good enough so maybe you should move on."
