  1. Vega signed with the Cowboys. @nickeatman: The Cowboys have signed DE Jason Vega, who is practicing with the team Wednesday
  2. With all due respect to Mike Edem, Brett Jones has to be the best draft pick of 2013.
  3. In my opinion, if we had stuck with Michael Bishop in 2010 instead of signing Buck Pierce, this team would be in a better situation right now.
  4. The Winnipeg Football Club has won 10 Grey Cups. Enough with the semantics.
  5. Wait..................... what ? http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nfl/story/_/id/9571497/members-kiss-buy-stake-la-arena-expansion-franchise
  6. Apparently he's getting some reps at Safety. Wonder where we would slot in an extra Canadian if that were to be the case.
  7. I think Pierce would probably look better in a more familiar offence, but you just gotta move on now that we have the chance. Hall's already in, no reason to rock the boat now.
  8. Bob Irving ‏@BobIrvingCJOB3m Looks like max hall is going to get the start vs hamilton ahead of buck pierce
  9. You're missing the point. No member of the board of directors should be meddling in day-to-day football or even business operations. Asper has shown in the past that he oversteps his boundaries as a board member and this report pretty much confirms that he has not learned his lesson. His role in the construction of the stadium is irrelevant. He is not the owner. He is not the CEO. He should not be involved in the day to day operation of the club.
  10. There's nothing typical about our QB situation. Everyone is the starter and emergency QB all at once.
  11. He has a developmental QB, named DeMarco. And I think it speaks volumes that DeMarco is ahead of the far more experienced Elliott on the depth chart. Elliott is the emergency veteran QB that smart teams like to employ. He's proven he can run an offence to some degree, but I'd be surprised if Buono has any kind of long term plans for Elliott.
  12. Not disgreeing on Elliot (he's 3rd in BC and not seeing playing time for a reason) but who do you see as good prospects that we have a shot at? We could have a realistic shot at Drew Willy and Zach Collaros to name a couple. Someone might shake loose from Calgary too, if we want to go that direction. Matt Nichols could also be an interesting option, depending on his health of course.
  13. Actually it was 3 vs. Toronto and 4 vs. Calgary. And if people can bring up the 2 PotW's, then it's just as valid to bring up the 2 games where he was absolutely terrible. Regardless, it's probably a moot point. I have a hard time seeing Elliott return. Too many other good QB prospects out there right now.
  14. 7 interceptions in 2 games. What a star. And not willing to watch film to improve his game, either. Sounds like a real winner. Except for all the losses, of course.
  15. How about a coach that is willing to try and improve a guys habits? How about we try a QB with some actual potential instead of trying to get a dud like Elliott back?
  16. talked with a reporter yesterday who said the coaches hate that Elliott doesn't watch film and doesn't prepare properly. Said that Tim Burke really doesn't like the guy and that's being polite about it. So, no....no JE under Tim Burke's watch... but TIm Burke is going to be relieved of his duties before next season... Yeah, what we really need is a coach who embraces a QB who doesn't watch film or prepare adequately
  17. I only posted it for the single quote - And, the source said "Gene Dunn and David Asper are running this team." Because, if true, that's bad news for the team. Asper is a walking disaster. He has to go.
  18. As noted before, Rod is basically on the Riders' payroll so you have to take everything he says with a grain of salt (even in media circles, he's a joke), but here's his take on the Bombers' current situation: * The Blue Bombers appear to be nowhere near ready to hire a General Manager. They're still firing people, including Sunday's dismissal of offensive coordinator Gary Crowton. If you're paying attention, Crowton was a holdover from the Joe Mack regime as Mack hired Crowton to be Paul Lapolice's offensive coordinator after Jamie Baressi was let go days after the 2011 Grey Cup. A buddy in Winnipeg emailed me a list of people who aren't working for the Bombers, but are still being paid by them. These are rough estimates of what they're earning: Paul Lapolice ($200,000), Joe Mack ($300,000), Garth Buchko ($300,000), Gary Crowton ($100,000). * A disaster. An absolute trainwreck. As one source in Winnipeg put it, "As bad as it looks on the outside, it's 10 times worse inside". And, the source said "Gene Dunn and David Asper are running this team." If that's the case, take a bow. * Had a chance to chat briefly with TSN colour commentator Duane Forde about the vacant Bomber GM job. I asked him what his stock line is when asked about the opening. "I don't have one," Forde said. "No one there has approached me." * Regarding Jeremy O'Day, a source close to him told me the Rider Assistant GM could be here for a long time yet because he's smart enough to realize it's better to be where he is with a stable organization than to be in charge of the Titanic.
  19. I noticed when Jameze Massey was in camp that our QBs have trouble hitting the small guys with passes consistently. And Woods really is small. I wouldn't want him to be too far away from the QB if we're going to be throwing passes to him. Get him in on some screens or the end around like James said.
  20. How is this even going to work for Bellefeuille? Does he try to implement a whole new offence mid-season? That seems unlikely. So now he's saddled with Crowton's playbook for the rest of the season, probably with his own adjustments. Hopefully we get better leadership and playcalling out of him at the very least.
  21. The way things are going in Montreal and Edmonton, it seems like 6-12 might be good enough for the playoffs. Sadly, even 6-12 looks like a stretch considering they'd have to go almost .500 the rest of the way (5-6) to even get there.
  22. Stewart and Mainor were brutal last night and Dunn had his worst game. Too many inconsistent players.
  23. Yeah I was surprised they put in Poblah when Matthews got injured instead of putting in Woods. They must feel like he doesn't know the offence well enough yet.
  24. What's your opinion on Heineken? I like to enjoy the odd Heineken.
