  1. Was at the game last night, I was telling the wife about how buzz and boomer used to absolutely wail on the green drop. A guy behind us overheard us and pulled out his 88 grey cup ring, and let me & my young one try it on. He had some sort of admin position with the bombers back then, not exactly sure. Anyways, last night stung but I am proud to be a Bomber fan, lots of good old boys in blue and gold in the crowd last night. F*CK the Als & F*CK the riders & F*CK everyone else, GO BLUE

it's been said a whole bunch, but it bears repeating: Because this fan base supports the team no matter what... through losing and winning and whatever.... we never need to be propped up like BC/Tor/etc. Never need to be fellated like the Gappers do. So nobody outside of this little 204 bubble gives a **** about us, and honestly would prefer that we weren't talked about at a league level. People HATE that the Bombers are now consistently good (in the midst of a true dynasty) and can't wait for this to end so they can go back to ignoring us.

I'd just like to turn on my tv and have my dominant team be given some respect 😆

Part of it’s that. Just winning and being good for so long will do it.
We have had a few guys who would be “love to hate” types on the field, if they were on another team.
Harris, Willie, Hardrick, Woli to name a few.

I don't think the bolded is true really, I don't recall a honeymoon period the bombers (& us fans) got to enjoy when the winning began at all.  At the start of this run most the talk was around Hamilton and their super team, then the media shifted to Toronto, and BC last few. It is strange, because you could say it's big market bias but if its was the gappers on this run they'd be fully celebrated... Its.... annoying.

And half of the media is picking Montreal to win lol. The same media types that all fully supported Argos in the East Final, and the same media that would've been united in crowning the Argos right now if they had got past the Als.

You guys are knit picking here.

I totally let Choke Kelly off the hook on that one- i for one would never want nor expect to see Zach running down a defensive player on a pick... Dude's role is to pilot the offense and sling the rock... not chasing down and tackling an opponent.

I for one would screaming "No, WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!!" LOL

No way, we aren't talking about him taking on blockers here, just jog the play out

  5. It was a small thing, (that's what she said) but watching Chad give up on chasing down Dequoy on that first pick 6, so early in the game made me feel there was trouble brewing for Chad and the 'best ever' Argos. Something about that visual (TSN tried to crop him out on the replays) of Chad deciding he was done looked so demoralizing. I know qbs shouldn't really be relied upon to make that tackle but at least run out of bounds or somehow get outta frame and avoid getting POSTERIZED

Dear Football Gods, we realize that these are just projections and we take nothing for granted. Your help in the coming days is and always will be greatly appreciated. Your faithful servants, amen.

Yes of course! I only post to try to pump the breaks on the "big bad Argos" discourse.

We both finished first in our divisions, East may have been stronger across the board but the Argos didn't have the Lions to contend with (head and shoulders above the other 6 teams), we beat them 2 outta 3 (loss came allllll the way back in June).

2 game difference in wins-losses doesn't mean much.

IF the grey cup ends up featuring these 2 teams it'll be another classic.

  7. West

    1. Bombers

    2. Lions

    3. Stamps

    4. Riders

    5. Elks

    No Crossover

WSF: Stamps beat BC in BC (Evans chokes)

WF: Bombers handle Stamps (Dickenson cries to refs all game and is fired before xmas)

    East

    1. Argos

    2. Redblacks

    3. Ti-Cats

    4. Als

ESF: BLM (coming off injury) finds some playoff magic and Ti-Cats beat the shockingly improved Redblacks (I got both road teams winning in the semis)

EF: Argos beat Ti-Cats in a tight one. Entire Argos front office gets in altercation with rowdy Ti-Cats fans post game (Pinball included).

Realize now this is a REGULAR season prediction thread, just got carried away :D

Great thread. I thought I'd share my thoughts now that we are a week removed from the game. I've actually been able to be pretty positive after the disappointing loss and I thought that maybe if I shared my reasons for that other people might be inspired as well.

Everything you said was true Zach. These were all feelings I experienced to psychologically devastating effects in 2001, 2007 and 2011. This time was different though. This time we are coming off of back to back Grey Cup victories. This time instead of feeling crushed by losing the one big game I am elated that we won the previous two.

I've been able to focus on all of the positives. The many, many positives. Having the most wins in the whole league since 2016, winning 2 straight cups, dominating our home games, having the best record in the league for two straight seasons, etc.

The dynasty would have been epic beyond words but not getting the threepeat doesn't diminish what we have to celebrate. What every other team in the league wishes they had.

In short, I'm having the best time of my life as a Bomber fan and the offseason can't end soon enough. I'll see you all at IGF in 2023. Go Blue!!!

The dynasty is still very much alive

  9. This loss is miniscule for me personally compared to 07, which I try not to even think about.  That one hit different.

I was lucky enough to be there in person to see the Bombers win last year in Hamilton. My heart goes out to all that travelled to Regina this year, and especially those who are struggling.

Just a note, I saw the 58-62 run mentioned in another thread, in 1960, the year we didn't win --we didn't even make it to the Cup, we had a 14-2 regular season record, the best in franchise history until this year. We're right on schedule for another back to back.

  10. On July 9th a healthy Rourke was 16/25 for 278 yards, had 3 tds & 2 interceptions against the Bombers in their cozy dome. Regardless of what he does tonight & in the WSF, he doesn't scare me and I'd love for them to knock off the Stamps in their dome and get stomped by the Bombers the next week. Stamps are the biggest threat to the 3peat imo.

  11. He's a smarter man than I, but I'd love for Walters to be aggressive and get a valuable defensive piece or 2 from edm or ott for draft picks for sure.  Never want to empty the cupboards so to speak but if there ever was a year to do it I think this is it. 3-peat in Regina, couldn't write a better script. Who knows what happens next season & beyond but man we're so close to dynasty territory...

I didn't say they were bad fans, or that we were treated overly bad. In fact I said we met some great people. We were not antagonistic with anybody, and the subtle suggestion that we were is way off.

I said it was a weird vibe, and for us it was. It was great that you were sorrounded by other Bomber fans, we weren't. So that may explain the different vibe.

I am not "'pissing on their rug" but you do what you do here.

I was at the game and live in Hamilton (a few blocks from the stadium). --I'm a Manitoba export, bombers fan obviously--.  It really sucks that you were feeling vibes, there was 26k people in one place, i'm sure there were all vibes good and bad to be found at the game. I will say this, I think Hamilton fans (and myself to be honest) were very surprised to see the amount of Bombers fans. The team had been selling the idea of a "Sea of Black" for the grey cup just like the playoff games. I took my dog for a walk during the East Semi and let me tell you it was 99.99% black. They haven't hosted a grey cup game in decades and i think the average ticats fan showed up naively thinking it'd be the same atmosphere as 2 weeks prior. (My wife estimated 10% bombers fans but that cant be right??).  Hamilton fans in general are great, knowledgeable passionate fans, and out here in the east, that's really appreciated. Not as much as i appreciate MILLER/WALTERS/O'SHEA.

  13. I was at the game and my god it was glorious. Definitely felt a real brotherhood amongst Bombers fans --the amount of us there was surprising, you can hear us on the broadcast when the bombers made plays.  I have to say that as the 4th quarter wore on the sense of dread I felt from the ticats fans kept cranking up. I was nervous of course, but not nearly at that same level. Even down 12 I never once actually contemplated us losing. That is just the energy our guys give off heading into crunch time. The stakes get higher and higher and the drama gets more and more intense and we just see if the other team can hang. That's the hallmark of a championship team. Amazing to celebrate after with all the bomber faithful. Just an amazing surreal night THANK YOU WADE MILLER, KYLE WALTERS, AND MIKE O'SHEA O'SHEA O'SHEA🎵

  14. After a night to process things, I'm actually at peace with the cancelled season. Worse case scenario would be they get the loan, attempt to start the season back up and something sh*tty happens, imagine the finger pointing that would take place if an outbreak outside the bubble happened or full teams getting outbreaks, and getting sent home mid season, or the whole league having to shut down, all would be bad for the brand. Take a step back and collect your thoughts and come back stronger than ever (please).
