I thought I heard that Lapo was one of the highest paid OC’s in the league.
True. But most of the best CFL offensive co-ordinaters are also their team’s head coach.

Our biggest problem is our American scouting. How many years and can't find a receiver or a middle linebacker. Probably two of the easiest positions to find. I would look at overhauling our American scouting and hire Cory Mace to run the defense next year. Gotta continue developing the qb's we've got. Get rid of Nichols and brining in a mobile style qb with some experience to compete with Streveler and Bennet next season.

As a kicker?
He’s be better then some of the guys we had out there lol

If we had any more injuries I think we may have had to put Ehlers into the game.

It’s pretty pathetic we didn’t have more american offensive tackles around. Nuefeld can’t get it done at tackle. As soon as Hardrick got hurt we should have brought someone in in case Foketi got hurt as well.

With Fogg out who’s going to be doing punt returns?

Flanders is a guy who flat out makes plays and we’re lacking in that department. I really don’t understand why we keep trotting out these useless import receivers when we have a proven playmaker waiting in the wings.
Plus. Harris handles a lot of volume at his age and it’s fairly common that he misses a series or two. It seems like every other week he’s being helped off the field and riding the bike just to stay in the game. Not a knock on harris it’s just that when you rush from 150 a game it’s gonna take a toll. We could just dress Flanders ahead of a useless player like Ian wild and if Harris needs to go out then you put in simonise or peterman for one of our useless American receivers.

We should dress Flanders. Even if there’s no specific role for him It would be nice to spell Harris and have a legit backup on the roster who doesn’t fumble he game away when he has to come in for a series. Hopefully once Gray is here that’s more of a possibility.

Coming up and playing in the CFL would be a good career more, having the dream of getting onto a NFL roster would be better for his pocket book but it hasn't worked out that way so far and may never.
And if he comes to the CFL and becomes dominant you can make pretty decent coin at that position as a Canadian.

well...see how this pans out now...is he willing to bounce around..or want to start a career here making most likely 100k to start
I don't really see him bouncing finding a new home in the NFL at this time. He was cut a week early and every year there's a new college crop fighting it out for roster spots. Would be great to have a guy like this actually come to the bombers after having been drafted. Typically we never see the players we draft who go to the NFL.

Against the run we are good no doubt. Does the passing yards against include the last two games?? Just wondering because we got shredded.
Yes it includes those games. This number should improve with back to back against Saskatchewan and then Montreal.

Mike said in Jan 2018 that he was taking a more active role. So that apparently is not the answer.
luckily for him, nobody was paying attention when he said that.
used up my quota of snarky comments for today, so will just be reading now.
The defense has taken steps forward from last season. But still not good enough.
2017 Passing yards against per game: 321.6, 2017 Rushing yards against per game: 96.7
2018 Passing yards against per game: 286.20, 2018 Rushing yards against per game: 95.1

Things are typically not as bad as they appear to be when things appear bad and things are not as good as they appear to be when they appear to be good. Winnipeg's defense played lights out for 2 and a half quarters in Calgary. But after so many 2 and outs by the bombers offense eventually Calgary is going to get some things figured out. The defense starts to think they need to win the game for the team with a turnover and end up cheating ect. Had the bombers offense done anything outside of the Streveler trick play to Lankford they probably would have done something that is rarely done which is win a game in Calgary. Personally, this one is more on the offense than the defense to me. The defense even came up with a key short yardage turnover late in the game to give the offense a chance. But of course, it only led to a field goal.
Saskatchewan is playing good football but by no means are they the Calgary Stampeders. Winnipeg will likely split the home and home series with the Riders and then have a bye-week before hosting Montreal. At that point the team will be 7-6 and very much still in contention for a home playoff game.

Bombers are gonna be getting their tails kicked real good again this weekend. This is something you can count on, even when they have a decent team, which this year they do not.
They had better not.

When play makers make plays and the quarterback executes I think I lot of plays calls look like great play calls. The players had their chances but blew them. It’s a different game if nichols doesn’t underthrow that ball to Adams and Adams doesn’t drop it.

We were discussing the receiver position as the suggestion was made that we should perhaps pick up Ernest Jackson. So, my answer just focused on that. Adams is too inconsistent for me as he can be a game breaker but he also disappears for long stretches as well & his production falls off. Yesterday, Nichols was off target to Adams. A couple of throws that were behind & that bomb to him downfield. He was open but Nichols should have thrown the ball a second or so earlier. He also dropped a couple of balls & seemed to be fighting his confidence as a receiver. The biggest offensive disappointment is undoubtedly the play of Matt Nichols & what has happened to our offense. Defensively, with Ritchie Hall I no longer am disappointed. He is what he is as a DC & his defenses play like it. The Bombers seem happy with him so what can anyone do?
I’m holding out hope for Zystra. He was injured and missed the first two pre-season games and didn’t get a target in the 3rd game. But he was only in when Seimian was playing so...

I would give it one more week... if this team loses on Labor Day then I’d do some sort of shake up. Either start streveler or fire hall.

Trust me, Lapolice was putting Nichols in bad situations.
When your running back rushes for less than 17 yards play action is pretty useless.

Compared with Mike Reilly no qb in the CFL seems to be up to snuff. I think Nichols is being affected by the lack of a training camp and having less mobility. Last year he took steps forward after working on his speed very hard in the offseason. Now he's having to work with less mobility than he had to begin with. He's still by far our best bet. This team can beat any team in the league if the team plays declined focused football. Something they hadn't done vs ottawa.

Nichols does need to play better but I think we would had lost this game even if Mike Reilly was our quarterback. How many penalties did Nichols take? This game IMO was lost on undisciplined play across the board. How many 2 point converts and touchdown drives by ottawa had occurred after Winnipeg got the stop only to have given Ottawa a second life through a pentalty? Most of the time it was a penalty that had nothing to do with making the defensive stop. I’m sorry but this was one of Nichols better games this season. If the defense and the offense hadn’t taken uncharacteristic penalties we’d be celebrating a win and nichols likely ends up with 300 yards passing and zero turnovers.
It doesn’t bother me that he was boo’d but did we really expect Matt Nichols to put up 45 points and win the game. He never had and never will be that type of quarterback. We can win with Nichols but not like this. With Nichols as our qb we need to do all the little things Right and we found out what happens when we do all the little things wrong.

I thought it was Lankford drawing in. Guess they figure they need someone to stretch the defense a bit
I’m actually more concerned about who will do the holding on field goals. Streveler ?

Any word on who is going to be starting in place of Weston Dresslor? Is this how Flanders finally gets back into the lineup?
So can we start talking about firing MOS yet?
