  2. Sure does feel like a reset has happened. Here’s hoping it results in us climbing back up to dominance, the gold standard of the league where we belong.
  3. Exactly whether he works out or not, be creative, be something more than hey let’s change the rules to give him and other players reasons motivations enticements etc to come to the CFL.

  7. No arguments there. Yet, like the coaches & admin cap, the league doesn't see the rookie cap as a problem. Yet the size of the field is. The priorities of the CFL are crazy.
  8. Yeah im not arguing that Elgersma will end up on a PR/Roster etc etc. Just that the rookie contracts give him (or any other player who seem to believe they'll catch on down south) little to no reason to come to the CFL.

  10. I get two impressions of Elgersma: He doesn't seem to want to play in Winnipeg or the Bombers. Even if he does sign here, he'll be gone at the first opportunity. So, don't hang your hat on he being a long term starter for us. That the CFL is beneath him. He's been told by his agents that he's an NFL qb & dammit, that's what he's going to be. Until he isn't. No matter how long it takes. A year & a half ago, no one knew who this guy was because he played for an obscure little college playing that strange 3 down football ****. In that ice sheet of a country called Canada. All they do is play hockey. When Tyler was in Grade 11, he also wanted to play NCAA in the US for Boise State, among other universities. He went to one of their high school camps in Boise throwing the ball in a workout. They liked him but ultimately chose someone else because the qb coach there felt Tyler's 3 down fooball background wasn't "real football". So yeah, I've heard the same **** Elgersma is going through with the NFL. Tyler could out throw most of the American qbs he went against. He always had one of the strongest arms at any camp he attended. He also could scramble although not a run first qb as he liked staying in the pocket & throw. This was 2011 & 12. The game has since changed, It drove some of the college coaches crazy to see that as they couldn't believe their eyes & were afraid to take a chance with a Canadian kid on a 4 year scholarship. The best he got was a walk on opportunity with the University of Oregon. Tyler got a personal letter to from HC Chip Kelly. I tried talking to Kelly by phone & left messages for him to call me as his private secretary would never put him through to me. He never called back. I wss hoping that once he found out about our finances he might have a change of heart for a scholarship. We couldn't get funding for him to walk on from Canadian or American sources. Tuition was $30000 US a year plus room & board. Unaffordable for us. The barriers that are put up seem a thousand feet tall for Canadian qbs. He signed with SFU.

  16. Can't Bobsled Canada or whatever they're called go out into the Head Office World in Toronto or even Calgary & get funding for their program instead of using used sleighs from the Germans? I started a new bantam football team here in Calgary & we desperately needed funding to buy equipment. I went to a bunch of coropoate head offices here in the O & G as well as insurance business to see if we could get sponsorship. Each time, I met with very nice people from every company's HR depts. No one would give me a penny. The cause of helping to fund a boy's football team for 13 & 14 year olds wasn't big enough. They wanted to make a big splash & have a news release. Some of these companies had tens of thousands to spend waiting for the right opportunity. In other words, don't wait for government sponsorship. go out & get the money yourselves.
  17. Elgersma's actually ******* himself over without realizing it. He hasn't had a tryout in weeks. Teams are now turning attention to college pro days, upcoming NFL Draft & college free agent qbs that probably won't be drafted. With the new qb crop, he'll slide down even further. It's his (career) funeral. I'm sure he has lots of stories about his NFL travels, how great Matt LaFleur & Jordan Love were when he's in the qb room with his guys at Laurier. They'll just gawk & go, "Wow!!" Stupid is as stupid does.

  19. What it says to me is that FIFO was way overrated with Osh. You can't expect players to fitin if certain players are coaches favourites. If a player should be benched & demoted then that is what should happen. Not given special chances or more opportunities to **** up. We saw that with a number of players over the years. You build a culture as a Head Coach then you have to make sure that it never changes. I think that's what happened to the Bombers. It went from FIFO in 2019 to Old Boyz Club in 2023-25. Younger guys saw & experienced that & wanted out. Needed a reset.
  20. We are clearly back in win now mode. We reached a bit for him, but with the nfl interest and pre season his value should be up if any thing. The draw is mainly in making a hype move, which is still valuable for half the league. I’d be happy if we took a former high pick, and got a mid round pick, or moved up in the global draft, or got other creative value. Some one like manu might be a worthy mix in for a team stock piling futures. Go out and find a qb who is quick enough to reliably make the first man miss when breaking the pocket and fast enough to out run cfl ends to the corner on boundary side. If he is coach able enough to stay low on the short yardage pack, you have a better qb3 than most teams in the league. (sad statement that is) And really put pressure on wilson, chase, and especially perkins to step up. No failing down into qb2, and 3 spots. Make one win qb2, or send them all home.
  21. I always thought Cuithbert was overated. When he was younger his high pitched voice drove me nuts. As he aged, it's got deeper so it isn't quite the shriek it was in the 90's. I like him better calling the CFL.
  22. Robert Duvall, 'The Godfather' actor, dead at 95 Lonesome Dove still a classic!
  23. Or maybe the second year player was making too many mistakes so the coach benched him. Hope Clercius can take the next step this season. Lots of tools. Look great at times, but something happened where he felL out of favour
  24. You’re right to pay up. There’s not enough trust in the world.
  25. Canada doing well. Seriously for the population size and delegation size we are doing well. USA not as good as normal. Norway just winter Olympic legends tho.
  26. Yup at this point develop Perkins Thorne Wilson or Artopoeous and trade Elgersma for a pile of picks.
  27. If anything some of you are complaining cuz you don’t know what else to do and you gotta pretend you have all the answers when you criticize O’Shea and Walters for doing exactly what you do but so be it as the off season is long. I personally don’t think Clercius or Corcoran are good enough starting Canadians and never will be. Clercius looks slow and Corcoran looked lost. Clercius and Corcoran won’t be around 9 years. So ya terrible comparison as stoddard was better and knew his role. TBH I think we start 2 Canadian receivers and Clercius and Corcoran aren’t starting.
  28. I like the new site. I'm not sure why I was asked for my credit card number and banking information but who am I to question?
  29. pretty bad dynamics that a HC would succeed to another players bitching....and that sure doesnt sound FIFO 'sh to me of ZC....Maybe some players should have berated his crap play/errors and got him parked on bench...should go both ways ....no?....sad state that apparently is
  30. yeah if he got a full 6 weeks....as his per diem and no PR after and waited around all yr...he made diddly compared to what a CFL rookie deal was And as I mentioned before...if he gets a after TC call for a workout...he will be brought in on teams dime, and hiused/fed....but if he lingers for more than 48 hours he is paying for it out of pocket...team isnt anymore I know the CFL rookie deal is bad, but if he came up last yr...he would have quadrupled his TC per diem....as he made no money chasing a PR spot, and could still have had his window again after seson to do what he did this off-season...which was basically nothing
  31. Big Air Big Win!
  32. Okay I really really want TCM to find a way around the CRTC during 31 days of Oscar because they are airing Tender Mercies in March and I want to see it (there's a site that shows what they're going to show next month including the schedule changes for Canada) https://deadline.com/2026/02/robert-duvall-dead-1236726076/
  33. Nfl tc money is not the same as pr though. Last year, players with less than 1 year service got 1850 a week. this year that goes up to 2k. For a full camp, plus the pre season games, guys with less than a year service get around 11-15k. Which is in the range of 15-20k canadian, before taxes. It only takes a couple weeks on a pr to out earn a cfl deal, but elgersma isn’t in that position. He as of yet hasn’t gotten a futures contract or camp invite even. To get that, he will now have to beat out an entire new rookie crop. This based off a preseason appearance, and a cis resume. He isn’t rourke, and rourke has basically no leverage and got barely a shot. I understand chasing nfl pr money, but he isn’t making some easy, economically sound decision. He’s gambling for more money with a pretty small chance of wining. The time to get a look now is counting down his nfl widow days after a cfl deal as well. If he kicks around for another year then comes up, he puts him self in a tight spot. He turns 25 next month, it’s going to be 2 years before he would get nfl consideration if he fast tracks to success. At that point he’s 28 for the next nfl camp, right at the end of his nfl window. I get it, but it’s long term, short odds gambling. At this point, I’d be happy if we traded his rights and sold high on him.
  34. from the 3 Down article posted on the last page. It was Collaros speaking about Clercius not the other way around. Kevens Clercius and Joey Corcoran both started games at field-side wideout in 2025, though Clercius was publicly berated by Zach Collaros for a mistake late in the regular-season and subsequently benched for the playoffs.
