25/26 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season Thread
Which is why THERE ARE TIMES (not always) when I wish the ratio would be gone so guys like Stanley Bryant can be at the top of the pay scale. I've seen enough shitty Canadian OL who'll never, ever be close to even thinking about being great except in their own minds... get totally overpaid. Think of the pylons we had playing for us on the OL in the early 2010's. We tried to build an All Canadian OL & after 3 years Walters & Osh were no closer to fininshing what they started.

NAT OL, or any other starting NAT, is going to make more than most IMPs at the same or similar position. I liked Walters presser. I like how he confirmed that we will be seeing a lot of 30 front this year and that was one of the reasons he went hard after Ceresna. It seemed like this was the probability when we signed Ceresna and then JSK afterwards. I know a lot of us here don't care for 30 front, but if you got the right pieces it can be a very good defence against the passing game. Last year we just didn't have the horses. With Ceresna here, and more Lawson, we should be able to execute it at a much higher level. I think this would give Jaworski a big edge in camp for the other DE spot as well.

Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
Elgersma will be here when he gets here. Not worried about that at all. He's got an agent blowing sunshine up his arse right now, so let's dial it back a bit about how he will never play here. Reality will set in, and he will come. We can go 3 NAT receivers but there is no requirement to do so if we go 3 IMP OL. We can make ratio in other places or even use the naturalized IMP rule.

He's a southern Ontario boy so I'm sure he'd sign with Hamilton or Toronto. We may have to trade his rights. Hopefully not & he comes to his senses.

Careful, I said the same thing a few weeks ago & got piled on for criticizing someone chasing his dreams.

Let him rot then....for a guy who\s proven nothing other than some success in CIS ball...he sure seems to think he\s somerhing special....and has poor representation....he was gonna have zero bearing on this season anyway so he is really just a big meh

He sure sounds frustrated with Elgersma's American agent. You sure get the impression Elgersma doesn't want to play in Winnipeg. Ever.

If we're sellers, it'll mean a shitty season next year as no way we're ever in the market for an impact free agent. I'd sure like to see how a more aggressive GM would handle things but we'll never know. With Chevy he has a #jobforlife because of his bestie Chipman.

Will healed up and rested help at all in making the playoffs this year? I’m thinking a hard no. Re-tool now with teams who are buyers.

Sounds like we are planning on going with 3 national receivers, if they aren't happy with Clercius I'm not sure how that will work, but the benefit of giving Zac better protection with 3 imports is definitely necessary

Our Jets season just keeps getting better & better. At least the rest of the team save for Hellebuyck will be healed up & well rested.

Mauldin signed a UFL contract yesterday. He's out of the CFL now. Wasted his best years playing for a crap organization when he coukd have been winning Grey Cup championships elsewhere.. Gittens??

I'd think that Canadians at Guard would be paid more than an American at LT. Stanley Bryant has never made $300000 a year like Woodmansey in Edmonton & he is the greatest LT the CFL has ever seen. And, where did he end up? Guard.

well I can imagine that rent will probably go up and some places will leave (A&W won't be one of them it's practically mandatory to have an A&W in the malls, except the outlet mall doesn't seem to have it but they have a KFC KP doesn't need that) I do hope we'll get a potato corner, before the bus schedule changed up in December (I knew my days of going there would be numbered because it's too far from the bus stop) and I let them know KP was going to extend the food court and the person working there they would tell their supervisor about this.

So there's a lot of juice to squeeze here. Particularly with how the salary cap was used last year and getting back to how they used the cap in previous years.... Also some frustration regarding Elgersma...

What is disappointing is that they stated that they will go from 8 tenants up to 10 tenants. I would have thought with a massive increase in seating and cutting out that full corner that they would have at least 4 - 6 more spots for new restaurants. Hopefully with the remodel it forces the crap places to leave (Chinese restaurant, Koya, Taco Time) and its replaced with something that is at least edible.

Part of the problem is that Winnipeg is over saturated with restaurants. I have no idea how some of these places stay in business with so much competition. We went to Nu-Burger on Henderson to check out the new location and including us they had only 3 customers. This was from noon when we arrive up until 1:00 ish. I think the opposite and that the chain restaurants will be closing and the one offs that offer high quality & home cooked foods are the ones that will survive.

I would've taken the shot on Mauldin too. But yeah, UFL bound. Im guessing that means no one was really interested. He probably looks to get a deal up here after a good UFL season if things go well. I don't think the call is gonna come. That season ends pretty eary too. Maybe he is just wanting to robert gordon some extra bucks AFL style. No one is gonna pay him what he got after his one good season, or close to it. For sure. He'd be a free Canadian lottery ticket. If Costello fixes him, you're laughing. Even if he's a 6th ol. If not, you cut him out of camp.

You're right, he isn't more than a stopgap. If, however, he can stop the gap, as can a DT can, you can groom a young Canadian to fill the role. Be they a CIS kid, or an NCAA kid. Honestly, the upside of the upper-tier CIS OL and NCAA OL isn't some big gap. The upper-tier cis kids are generally very toolsy athletic outliers these days. lol, listening to his and Zach's orders from McDonald's on the podcast a while back was pretty funny. Thats a good pick up, but I think the ti cats got bad info on Gittens. He never played for the bombers. Maybe they intended to sign Case instead?

Its sad to see. Chains are often mediocre and non chains are often excellent.

Oakwood Cafe will be closing down the first week of March, non chain restaurants are are a dying breed and in these economic times with razor sharp margins and a smaller customer base expect many more closing down in the future
